So even though the base gameplay, style, landscapes, and combat are all based off of the Classic games, it's not because of Spyro's design? You're kidding me.

... Well, I might change that thought once I am convinced that this new game has some kind of continue of the original. But I still don't like this new Spyro.

The developers themselves claim that the game is based off of the PS1 games. And if you look at some peices of gameplay footage, it kinda shows. The design also looks like of mix of Classic and LoS. In other words, they are trying to mix the gameplay of the PS1 games, with the style of the LoS trilogy. It's trying to satisfy everyone, but nobody is taking it, mostly because of the design and lack of Cynder.

I think some people are just making accounts to do this now, or being idiots.

A mix? That seems a little extreme. They should have stayed with one, problably the original.

I don't think it has much resemblance to Classic in terms of gameplay at all. It just looks like it's own thing.

And it does sound like a risk, but so far it's looking ok. And sometimes it's good to try and mix things. Like I said, they're trying to get the kids interested, along with both sides of the fanbase.

My mom and I are really LOVE the spyro series, but will have to wait and see. It Looks interesting though a definate must play to find out.

That would actually be a good thing. That means they have creativity and they want to be orginal. I dunno. We can't tell how the gameplay feels until we play the game.

That's because of the different developers. Krome/Sierra wanted a different take on the franchise rather than Insomniac's, and Toys For Bob/Activision wanted a different take on all of them. You're acting as if there's been one developer the entire time, when there's been several.

Well if those several want something new, they should at least keep up with a same storyline, even if some things do change quite significantly...

Look guys, here's how it is:

TLoS and Classic are finished, or at least "on hold".
Both could of been easily continued, but it doesn't look like that's happening.
Skylanders is different from both of these, but seems to have throwbacks and coincidental similarities. However, it is not original as a stand alone game.

No, what I meant was, they are not being very creative. Heck, even compared to other Spyro games, this is pretty unoriginal.

But Activision stated that this game is the start of the Skylanders franchise. Spyro is merely a cameo as of now. So it's essentially the start of a totally different franchise.

Skylanders is going to be it's own franchise after this game, but if people respond well to Spyro's cameo and want more, odds are Spyro will get his own game.

The last game in the entire franchise was DotD. LoS is done.

The last game in the Classic storyline was Shadow Legacy. All developers that worked on Classic games after Insomniac all either shut down or merged with another company.

The last game in the Insomniac trilogy was YotD, which was released 11 years ago. Insomniac isn't going to make the games, therefore the Insomniac trilogy is out of the question.

How can the Classic storyline still continue?

Well if Shadow Legacy was really the last one, then it really must have a continue. Don't you remember the ending of that really means a continue?

And you are right about Insomniac, they did the original trilogy, but after that, the storyline continued from that precise point, even if Insomniac wasn't part of Spyro anymore.

Well that's the thing. The next developers on the title were told by Sierra to make the games darker. If you noticed, SL was darker than the previous Classic games. From here, the developers (Krome) decided to follow these directions. The producers made up the story as development moved along, and with that ANB was made and LoS was born. When the developers and Publishers change, they will most likely want to take the franchise in a different direction, rather than continue what was done before.

Me neither. I don't have a preference when it comes to tone, but I love when darkness and light-hearted stuff are mixed. That's essentially what LoS is to me, at least from TEN onward.

Doubt it. I think the game is going to try and strike a balance between the light-hearted feel good sense of Classic games, along with the angsty, dark, depressing sense of LoS. So far, that's how it looks.

I know right? D: Some dark games are cool, but I like the old games better. Even if the graphics suck. It doesn't look dark at all to me. But I could be suprised. I'm not going to make a judgement on that until I see some cutscenes.

I m not meaning DARK in that category, I mean like violent, bloody, ect. Spyro hasn't reach that category, it is quite dark TLoS trilogy, but at least is enjoyable.

Strike a balance in the sense of going in between dark and light-hearted. It's not dark enough to be LoS, but it's far from light-hearted enough to be like Classic. It's hit in the middle.

Don't get me started on the Darkness started in the Spyro series.
To say all, the Darker games don't feel like Spyro, and more like something like Final Fantasy.

I already said it. The Spyro fanbase is now worse than the Sonic fanbase during Sonic 4. I was in the Sonic fanbase, and people weren't making accounts just to vote down the game or trash it.

I think people should stop being n00bs and wait untill it comes out and see if they like it or not
