"Going back to Spyro -- way back, I was lobbying a lot of studio heads to make a Spyro movie. And I got the door shut in my face every single time, because at that time, the studio execs didn't afford games any value at all. They didn't believe the franchise we were creating had mass appeal, and they believed that games were toys, as several speakers alluded to today. And that's changed; now, the opportunities to create cartoon series or movies or anything else are out there. And we're seeing it -- several other Sony properties are being announced as mainstream."
-- Insomniac Games' Ted Price, responding to our question about building universes rather than single games, all of which seems especially appropriate given Activision's announcement of a physical toy-based Spyro game this morning.
Wouldn't be interesting if there was actually a Spyro movie way back then? I would love to attend a movie screening and see Spyro and his friends going through a magical adventure. Too bad movie studios didn't accept this type of thing back then.
