Okay we all know Malefor was once good but then he turned evil. But the thing that gets me is why did the dragons keep his statue at the temple if they know he's evil. Why not just tear it down?
That's what puzzles me. Why did they keep the statue of the dragon that tried to destroy the world.

Well, we don't really know if it's Malefor, is the first thing. Secondly, they might not have had time for it- Malefor could have turned evil shortly before ANB. And speaking of ANB, the Guardians were caught before it took place, and Ignitus wouldn't be enough to get rid of the statue. Somebody like Terrador would have had to do it.

It is unknown why they still kept the statue. Probably to remind themselves of their foolishness when they willingly taught Malefor the elements and encouraged and believed in him without thinking of the consequences or results. This caused Malefor to be corrupted and his power was unlimited. With the statue still up, possibly to remind them, they probably didn't want to do the same thing again with the next purple dragon Spyro.

Malefor was imprisoned for a long time between his evil rule and ANB. So the statue has been there since he trained with the Ancients.

Yeah that does make sense since that had all that time to tear it down. Yeah I think what you said is why they never tore it down.

I don't rcall the game ever saying that. And again, we don't know wether it's actually Malefor the statue was crafter after. |

It is. It has Malefor's horns, and when Terrador said the Mountain of Malefor in TEN, the scene flashed to the statue briefly.
Trust me, if Krome had done the game, Malefor would've looked almost the same as the statue. And another statue of him was seen in TEN at the Well of Souls. See?

Oh! I forgot about the one at the Well of Souls.
But, we still don't know Malefor was specifically trapped for a long time in Convexity. He could have been born and then after 200+ years or so turned evil. I doubt it, but still, you need to look at it from all ways. |

A purple dragon is born every ten generations. And it was a tenth generation when Spyro's egg was brought to the world.

Yes, but we don't know exactly when Malefor was exiled. It could have been shortly before the Temple was attacked, or long before.

I doubt it was shortly before the Temple was attacked. Malefor heard of the prophecy of the next purple dragon while he was imprisoned in Convexity, and sent his Ape army to prevent Spyro from being born.
Think about it, or replay ANB and TEN again to refresh your memory of the story..

That's what I said, I doubt it too, but you can't just look at it from that angle.

Look, we know Malefor was imprisoned before the events of ANB.
So it wouldn't matter anyways, unless the producers explain, which I doubt it since one of them won't talk about the LoS games anymore.

I know, but it'd be something interesting anyway. But, then again, it doesn't really matter if the statue was torn down. Really, nothing in the universe matters, because when it comes down to it, one day it will destroy itself.
But let's not talk about the universe. Another reason they may not have torn it down is because it sinks into the ground to make a training area, and they wouldn't be able to teach any dragons the Elements or practice their abilities. |
