I agree. It's a bit rude to call someone's opinion stupid. Everyone has the right to have their own opinion about matters, and others have the right to disagree with your opinion and counter it with their own thoughts on the matter, but there's no need to call someone stupid cuz they don't share your own opinion. Everyone should respect others' opinions too.

Me too. I think there is such an interesting dynamic between them.

And that one fanfic I read that was erotic was part of a continuing story. I didn't know this chapter would be erotic or anything, but it was brilliantly written.

It's not that I'm afraid, it's just that when I remember the amount of times people try to annoy me over my opinions after typing a long comment, I just think to myself"....Ah....Effort...".

My opinions on Cynder are the things that get bashed most, so I usually just say funny things about her.

At first I use to argue with people but I stopped because I saw that basically arguing does nothing. So now I let people say whatever around me.

I'm all for a nice debate, but when it comes to Cynder, all I see people say to me is stuff like "SHE'S A MARY-SUE!" or "She's sexy and brought in a load of pervs into the Spyro fandom, so she's baaaad!". I also hate the way people talk about her as if she's a different character in each game i.e calling her "ANB Cynder" "TEN Cynder" and "DotD Cynder", and saying her personality is totally different in each game. It's understandable in some cases(such as discussing her design) but we don't have to do it all the time. She's the same character in each game, so there is no need to attach a label to her all the time. She is the only character I ever see this happen to(except for "Classic Spyro" and "LoS Spyro", who ARE actually different characters....but I usually don't even label him), and I'm not talking about just in Spyro....

I've never given up on an arguement, although I got close to giving up on my arguement about the console wars:

There is no console wars. Gaming exists as a form of entertainment, not as something to argue about and say which system is the best. It seems to me as though gaming for the sake of gaming is now gone, and we only play video games to make a point that this console is better than that one, and so on. When people debate about how the PS3 or 360 is the best console, I only think of 2 things. 1, whatever happened to the Wii? When did it stop being a video game system? And 2, this arguement is pointless and only increases tensions that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

The console wars is a stupid debate that only pisses people off for no reason. If I HAVE to say what I think is the best console, then I say the Wii. But I don't play games for that. I play games to relieve stress. It's a lifestyle for me.

Now to get on topic.

I haven't given up on debates in the past, I just tend to not get into debates about Cynder or the Classics at all anymore because the responses are usually same old, same old:

In Cynder's case, people try to tell me how:
1) She's a Mary-Sue(which is a point they rarely back-up)
2)How Cynder having an attractive design in DotD is extremely wrong(if it doesn't effect the gameplay, then I don't see how it's a major flaw....yes, people mark Cynder's DotD design as a major flaw in the game....)
3)How she "single handedly tore apart the fanbase"(The only people to blame for tearing apart the fanbase is us - the fans - the ones who decide to argue over things).

In the case of the Classics, if I say anything negative, however slight, I usually get bashed like crazy....

That's the problem about Classic Nazis. It's ok for them to bash the other series, but if you say something that was an actual flaw, then the national guard is called. That's why I perfer being a neutral fan.

Cynder's design didn't effect gameplay. People that nitpick that tend to be the same people that hated how Sonic had green eyes instead of black in Sonic 4.

And a simple character that has only been in 3 games can't kill a fanbase, ESPECIALLY when people only really started complaining at DotD.

I have often said to people who complain about Cynder's design that they are acting like those people who complained about Sonic's green eyes in Sonic 4. However, they always try to justify it by saying "sexualizing her drew in a load of perverts and spawned tons of porn", which is an absurd statement for countless reasons...

As I said, us fans tore apart the fanbase, not Cynder. WE are the ones who decide to argue and bash each other, and as a result, WE pay the consequences.

I don't see anything wrong with Cynder in DotD whatsoever. People are just looking for reasons to complain. When there isn't anything to complain about, people will just make things up.

I don't mind people not liking Cynder, that's their opinion. But when they start complaining about silly things that are of no relevance at all, and keep complaining for ages, I get annoyed.

Also, Cynder haters are always complaining about how she pops up in every topic, but in reality, it's the haters that bring her up(this topic not included!). If not that, someone might mention Cynder for a second, then a hater comes along and starts whining about Cynder, and then BOOM! You've got yourself a 2-page long Cynder debate!

People don't play video games or listen to music or watch movies for entertainment anymore. They do these things so they can find something to complain about. Granted, I'm being hypocritical here since I complain a lot and I want to make a hobby out of ranting, but I don't play games ONLY to complain about how someone has green eyes, or how someone looks sexualized, or how Hulk Hogan isn't as buff in RL as he is in Legends to Wrestlemania. The only games I play with an intent to complain/make fun of are ones that are considered universally bad(Sonic 06, for example). Otherwise, I play a game with a desire to enjoy it....sometimes I don't, but mostly, I do.

I only care about the problems in a game if they're beyond horrible. Or, in gameplay's case, beyond bad.

Yeah, there are some games that I play so I can make fun of them, but that doesn't mean that I toss aside great games like Trauma Center or Gears of War.
