@SuperSpyroFan: It's the GBA version I'm talking about!smilie
Although, I could probably make that time in the console version, if I used Dark Spyro and exploited glitches....

...Very interesting...

I completed hard mode in about 3 hours when I borrowed it from a friend. Quicker on an emulator of course smilie

Just a shame I haven't been able to unlock Cynder, which I believe could be playable somehow, looking at the game data smilie

It's only a rumour right now, let me assure you smilie

The game data just seems to have a lot of specific Cynder based data, considering she only appears a few times, and many of her sprites are only used once.

^ I think Spyroo meant hacking into the game. You can't play as Cynder without a cheat as far as I know. Recall the 1-in-5 secret? It's so unfortunate it wasn't Cynder. That would have been... EPIC!!!

Maybe she was going to be unlockable, but was cut? Sometimes, developers leave unused data in a game, sometimes for no particular reason, and sometimes because it would actually mess up the game's coding if they removed it.

Yep, that's what I meant. smilie

Playing as Cynder in this game would be just amazing. Not that it isn't already of course.

1-in-5 secret? Has the GBA version got secrets I don't know about? D:

I have encountered many things like that in Sonic games. I have even had to do it myself in my LBP levels.

LittleBig Planet Levels.

The 1-in-5 secret is an exploding chicken found in the first level, which I believe is a reference to Harvest Moon.

Exactly what it says it does smilie

In the Swamp level, go to the hill where those background trees are that follow you. 1 in 5 chance you'll see it (or just search it on Youtube if my description sucks).

What you need to do is save in the area where you learnt Wall Climb and Charge. After saving, restart. Return, save again, and repeat several more times. Also, check the hill to the left of the wall you need to charge each time. There's just a chicken sprite there which will peck the ground, look around and explodes. Spyroo has a video of it on this topic.

No luck on Cynder, but if I may post it here:

The final door really does open!

RadSpyro just sent me a message saying they'd hacked the game - And sure enough, it opens! They'll be putting a vid up later today!

Sadly though, no Cynder again. Just another 'easter egg'. But still, yay! smilie

On the topic GamingMaster linked, look down to where Bolt posted.

The final door was meant to be fake, but in fact, it's not!

So can you open it by normal means or just through hacking? What's behind it?

You can get it through normal means by achieving a 23 hit combo, which may sound easy, but is quite difficult.
Spyroo Blue Sparx Gems: 867
#73 Posted: 14:46:00 01/01/2011
I'm referring to the one that takes over 50 hits - No one has actually got any video footage, nor any mention of what's behind it.

Apparently, there's a bunch of statues of Spyro with names on them.

Is Dan Johnson there? That would count as an Insomniac reference.

Miyamoto is obviously a Nintendo reference if it's there.

And that guy who created Tetris. I think his name was Andrew something-or-other, and I'm positive it had an A in it.

Iwata is obviously a Nintendo reference.

I don't know, I didn't ask that smilie

Although I may try and see if I can hack it myself (simply because I'm not very good at long combos).

According to some other sites, cynder can be unlocked on the DS version supposedly, and from what i can tell its possible by smashing every single gem cluster in the entire game, which totals either 60 or 100.

You're thinking of ANB. She is a playable character you can unlock by finishing every puzzle. Unfortunately, her gameplay is the same as Spyro.

The last Spyro game I bought was DotD for the PS2, but I am considering getting it for the PS3 also, for the sake of better graphics... to be honest I have no idea why I didn't buy it for PS3 right away.

I don't play handheld Spyro games, I only play Spyro games for Playstation. It's not that I don't have any handhelds, I have a GBA and 2 NDS's, however I don't like Spyro games on handhelds, I like to play Spyro on bigger screens.
