Yee... my favorite Tlos game is TEN too. I actually really like that one. it had good feeling to it.

I like ANB the best out of the three because it's not as dark as the other too. The first three levels were somewhat light hearted IMO. And Spyro wasn't as serious as he was in TEN & DotD, and he still had a bit of his old spunk. He just seemed to be a bit more playful in the game. Not to mention Cynder was at her best in that game. Awesome villain, I wished she stayed that way.

To me, it would have been better if Cynder was the main villain of the trilogy. She was better at being a Villain than Malefor, and more cooler looking.

My favorite Spyro game out of the Legend of Spyro trilogy would be A New Beginning also. Probably because it was the first game I had played in a long time. When I was younger I would always play the original Spyro games. But as I got older my school basically dropped a truck load of homework on me every night (it got to the point where I would do nothing but homework all day, so I had to switch schools because since I'm a school nerd my grades were very important to me so I would spend my time making sure I did my best on every paper, which took a lot of time, to where I would spend half of the night trying to finish my homework) - well, that made me have to put playing Spyro games aside. Years later when I switched schools and I wasn't under as much pressure I wanted to go back to playing Spyro games again. It happened conveiniently around Christmastime so I looked up new Spyro games on the internet. I saw all these 'Legend' games, and I'm like, "Whoa, I have some catching up to do." So I got all the legend games for Christmas Maybe the long period of time between the original and legend games made me not as shocked toward the change...

i like them both the same......maybe the new one a bit more

I grew up playing the Spyro games since the very first, but I like the new Spyro a little bit more too..

The first ever game that I grew up with was Tomb Raider.

I don't mind the changes in the Spyro franchise, since probably I like dragons in general.

The very first game I played was StD, I believe, which is one of the reasons why I like the originals more. That game got me introduced to gaming.

When I got the Gameboy Color, Pokemon Blue was the very first game I played on there. :3

When I found out about Spyro, it was on a demo disc with Tomb Raider III, and I tried it out and thought it was great, much more fun, and a little less complicated than Tomb Raider.

I feel safe enough to say this now....

I think I'm starting to like the LoS series a bit more too. Granted, I haven't played Spyro 3, ETD, AHT or SL in a LONG time, so it could change. But I think I like the music, artwork(including fanart), charcters, etc in LoS a bit more than the Classics. However, gameplay wise, I find them about equal (however, LoS has more instant replay value for me than the Classics). I also feel that, if it were put in the right hands and made a bit more mature, LoS could go further than than the Classics ever could.

You never know if the Classics or TLOS could do better than eachother, you can't really say that really, since they are both completly different genres of games, you would say that because you seem to prefer more action than platforming in games. EDIT you have also admitted that before.

In my opinion, neither TLOS or the Classics could beat each other. They both have their good points and bad, Classic could do better if done right, and TLOS could do better if done right. Seems a bit silly if one can do better than each other.

Actually, I never admitted that. I said they are both two of my favourite genres(I actually play more explorative games then linear ones, although I don't feel linearity is the end of the world, like some FF fans do).

I don't want to explain my reasons, as this topic isn't for it, but there are certain things that make me think LoS could last much longer than Classic Spyro, and still be well received and getting good sales.

Fine I'll take that back then, but I was pretty sure that one point in one of these topics that you kind of did. In my opinion, I can't really see that one can do better than the other. To me, if Classic was done right and TLOS was done right, they both could be just as good, but we don't know.

Basically, I think LoS is the better "template" for a new developer, compared to the Classic Spyro, which is odd, seeing as Classic Spyro is kind of the template for LoS!

I always suspected that about Aura and sonicbrawler.. Haha And I agree. Ever since I've played TLoS, I've found myself to enjoy it a bit more than the original series, even though I grew up with the Original series. Even though I might favor TLoS a little, I still love both, of course. I just like the continuous storyline of TLoS, the characters, the action, and so on. But the Classics are.. well, classic to me

I still prefer the classics a bit more, probably because I'm generally light-hearted and not too keen on the whole dreary thing like most people my age. But I've lightened up to LoS too, particularly if I look at the glass as half full, so to speak :3 And besides, evil Cynder is really epic!

Do I think Legend has a better template? Hm..... Not really, I don't honestly think there's any chance he could last as long as classic for a variety of reasons (read: keeping up with today's audience for a start). But for a tv series or movie? Yeah!

As I said before, I will have to play Spyro 3, ETD, AHT, and SL to make my final decision. :3

Eh, I think many fans who like both series may prefer the Legend a little more.


The Legend of Spyro series in general is a huge 'You either love it or hate it' kinda series

I think both Spyros are like that, but it's probably more apparent in LoS. One review I read for DotD made a brilliant point:

"If you listen only to the haters, you will be pleasantly suprised. If you listen only to the fanboys/fangirls, you may be a little disappointed."

That's true. But everybody is entitled to their opinion. I love both Classic and LoS. And basically everyone that posted here does too.

We just don't need screaming fanboys/girls.

As long as only fans like both series of Spyro posts here..

I prefer the Classics, I don't see how it is a template for TLOS, it's nothing like it. Reboots are supposed to be a completly different, and it is in this case. A reason why I prefer the Classics is because you don't seem to get a cutscene every two to three minutes, and I found that they just drag it out too much, and I hate the fact that Spyro is some special purple dragon, just because he is purple, I find it stupid. Having lots of elements is like a gimmick they just thrown in, but it is also on the Classic games (later ones) and I still find it as a silly gimmick back then. I really have to disagree with you on that one.

EDIT: LOL, I'm always disagreeing with nearly everyone on this forum, it's like noone has the same opinion as me, it's really weird.

Super, if you don't agree with the Classic and Legend series still being Spyro, you don't have to post here.

But I wanted to.

As long as you post how you like both series of Spyro instead of siding with one part of the series.

It's up to me how I would like to post my opinion, people shouldn't take it too seriously in the first place.

I know it's your opinion and all, Super. But I'm kindly asking you to not post how one side of the Spyro series is superior and how you don't see the similarities and references we fans of both Old and New Spyro fans don't see.

The producers made a lot of references to the old Spyro with the New one.

Enemies laughing at you when you get him, Sparx eating butterflies in TEN, the Celestial Moons being the same as the moons in Spike's Arena from Spyro: Year of the Dragon, the resemblance of the Floating Islands to the Dream Weavers homeworld, and many more.

So, back on topic:

Wouldn't it be cool if they took the Legend universe, and injected the power ups from the Classics? Considering the whole "legendary purple dragon" concept, it would make sense.

I also think that maybe they should reconsider in using the portals again, and levels that you teleport to, would be massive.

@Aura24: Yeah, I noticed a lot of similarities too. I have to wonder if some of them are intentional or a coincidence.

I also think that in DotD, when Cynder is having a funny moment, she really reminds me of the way Spyro acted in Spyro 2 & 3.

Yeah. But that would be kinda hard to do if they continued in TLoS Universe. TLoS Universe seems to be way before technology, like in ancient times. I don't know if technology would work too well in the Universe it's in.

Portals, with the use of the Spirit Gems, the ancestor's gift from the LoS trilogy.. Hm...

Perhaps you need to find ancient gems to get the ancient portals to work again? LOL.

Spyro 3 was supposed to be ancient, and the dragons left, and it all started to dry up, so why can't it be like that?
