I have no idea. They are very secretive about a lot of things, so you probably wouldn't get a reply, and if you do, it would probably be an automated one.

A little vague don't you think? What kind of letter are planning to write to Activision? Also a heads up for you, and not to crush your spirits, but Activision may not read your letter no matter how much heart you put into it. But don't let that stop you if you truly believe that it will make a difference.

Despite that, you should always wright professionally (no immature, or internet slang, or slang of any sort). Be respectful and show your concerns clearly, and to the point. Also don't wright a long drown out letter, just hit the mark and tell the truth.

Without anything else to go by, that's all the. . . advice, I can give you.

Perhaps you could include that if there is no light shed on the situation, our own fear will be forced to fill in the blank darkness.

Maybe you could discuss to Activision about what you would like to see in the upcoming Spyro game that they're making. Or if Activision doesn't accept any of your ideas for this installment of Spyro, maybe discuss what you would prefer to see in the next Spyro game (if there is one).

Hmm... If I were emailing them, I'd probably ask for information, but also give a few ideas that you'd like to see.

The best odds is to give some ideas on what you want to see, then cross your fingers and hope that they even look at your letter, let alone consider your thoughts.

I should honestly do the same. I should also contact Nintendo while I'm at it....

I've sent a few emails I put a lot of effort into to Activision, and only once did I get a reply. And what did that reply say? Something like "Thank you for your interest in Spyro, but I'm afraid we cannot comment on Spyro at this time.." And so on.. Something automated like that. That's when I gave up. smilie

Yeah, I sent an email to an associate producer of Activision, and she said almost the thing Darby's reply said.

I'll still give it a shot. I'll beg for them to read and actually give it some thought. Then I'll threaten to stop buying their games. Sure I'll miss out on a lot, including my beloved CoD, but it'll be worth it if they finally reply.

One customer could mean a difference. For all we know, I could start an avalanche and then several people won't be buying the games.

^ Lol.

How about suggestions? They could say 'this won't fit' or 'this will work perfectly' and Activision might accidentally spill the beans on the kind of game in their works. I doubt it would happen, though.

I don't think Activision would care much if you sent them a letter, you're not exactly working there. I heard that gaming companies aren't really allowed to listen to feed back from customers. I guess it's kind of like cheating in a sense, just getting random people's ideas because they can't come up with their own sort of thing.

Not all game companies are like that. Halfbrick Studios regularly post on their OpenFeint forums(though they're absent at the moment). Then again, there are only 42 people working there...

I guess it just depends, I'm not sure, I haven't worked in one to find out, LOL. So you're guess is as good as mine.

Still, it's likely at this point that only a few people will be lucky enough to get any response at all, considering the current state of Spyro...
SuperSpyroFan Diamond Sparx Gems: 9329
#22 Posted: 09:56:17 19/12/2010
I don't think it's in a bad state, I reckon they could still make money out of it, you have to still remember that there are some suckers out there that would go out and buy it straight away, although you do get the people that give it a year to think about before buying it, that's what I do, I wait for about a year to think about if I really want it, and also the price comes down a little too. Call me a cheap skate but I don't care.

#23 Posted: 10:00:35 19/12/2010
Never said it was in a bad state. XP

But, yeah, what Spyro needs right now is a game that would appeal to everyone, and considering how desperate the fandom is in general, it would be relatively easy to excecute.

#24 Posted: 10:13:51 19/12/2010
Well it sounded like it to me, lol.

I agree, it needs to be something for everyone, but I think that will be very difficult to achieve, I've just got a feeling that it will fail next year, but that's just me and my negative thinking.

I have mixed feelings about the next game. Its name reminds me of the Artisan's World, but The Legend is in the title. That's a bit of a concern.

But let's not forget they've been working on this for nearly two years. It could be a massive hit, who knows.
SuperSpyroFan Diamond Sparx Gems: 9329
#26 Posted: 10:21:41 19/12/2010
Same here, it reminds me of the Artisan's World too, and I actually had a dream about it, probably where I was thinking about it too much. I just hope that this time round, the publisher won't rush the developer, it seems like Spyro has always been rushed since Insomniac Games stopped developing it. And even then, there was still improvements that needed to be made to the Original trilogy.

Well you know where the Artisan's waterfall is? I dreamt that it somehow opened up, sort of like two large doors opening, and I saw Spyro enter it, and then I just woke up. It was really weird, I also think I remember that there was a random race that you had to do before going there, it's really hard to remember though. It was a month ago.

I was imagining something sort of like the temple and castle mixed together, it was the castle in the homeworld, just less open and it was more dusty like in the swamp, next to some trees and it was on top of a not-so-high hill with other hills around it. There were some rocks and flowers like the original game on the hills. I also once had a dream Spyro was walking in it and then he flew above it and I saw a bird's-eye view of the level. One other thing, there were a couple of carvings on the bottom of the castle walls.

Interesting, I'd love to have a more detailed dream like that. I had a funny dream about Tomb Raider and Spyro, I don't even know why he was there with her, basically, me and Lara came out of this tomb, there were red water everywhere and we had to balance on these pillars that were sticking out of the water and to jump onto this wooden bridge, we made it, then Spyro was on the other side of the bridge, he chuckled and breathed fire on it, it lit up in flames and I fell in the water, I woke up laughing.

Something like that or a cameo from the TR games could actually make a good level if it was pulled off right.

I would seriously laugh if the developers had an agreement to have Spyro in Tomb Raider. It would be cool to see, and I can imagine Spyro being mischievous towards Lara, and just annoying her all the time.

I think a good idea would be to release a Classic style game and a Legend game.
Or, they could take a risk and try new things.

Maybe Activision should get two developers, one can work on the Original trilogy, and one on the Legend trilogy, but I guess it depends on the money side of it. Trying new ideas seems interesting, at least they did try with DOTD by adding flying and co-op. I think they should maybe change the genre of the game to Action and Adventure, instead of Action.
sonicbrawler182 Platinum Sparx Gems: 7105
#35 Posted: 11:15:42 19/12/2010
It says it's an Action/Adventure in it's genre description, so here's to hope!smilie

Although, I always felt DotD was an Action/Adventure.

Let's hope that the new game gives a bit of everything then.

I'd say that the earlier levels of DOTD felt like Action/Adventure, but as soon as I got to the Dragon City, it just felt like Action to me.

The Ruins of Warfang was quite explorative, and even the Destroyer was(I got lost on him!smilie). Also, the Burned Lands and the Floating Isles were quite open.

Ruins of Warfang was linear to me, it was still more Action than adventure in my opinion, you still had to fight every five seconds when you just jumped to a platform.

Destroyer was interesting and a bit different I must admit, but it's still Action as you can't really explore anywhere else, only where the enemies were, which means Action.

Burned Lands definitely was not Adventure to me at all, there was a lot more of action than adventuring.

Floating Islands was very small, it's still felt like Action to me. You were fighting more in the later levels than in the earlier ones in my opinion.

Agreed with Super, apart from the Destroyer. I got lost too! Still, fighting paths on it were very linear.
sonicbrawler182 Platinum Sparx Gems: 7105
#40 Posted: 11:39:29 19/12/2010
Most of the fights are skippable though. In the Floating Isles, there is only one fight you can't skip. And in the Ruins of Warfang, the enemies are killed extremely quickly, and there was a lot of puzzles and hidden things(the elite enemy there was hidden so deviously!smilie). Burned Lands had a lot of fighting, but had enough hidden things and was pretty open to make up for it(got lost here too once!smilie). However, in a game like this, there should always be at least one difficult fighting level, and Burned Lands was just that.
