It;s Cynder. And it isn't wrong. A name ccan be any letters aslong as it's a name. Cinder is what some people thought it was spelt like, but they're wrong.

It's just to match 'Spyro' I should think.

........Or they secretly ripped off Dragon Rage from Cael Cyndar, rofl.

I think the name is meant to reference the term "burn to a cinder".

I think they meant why it's spelt 'Cynder' instead of 'Cinder'.

Well, Spyro's name comes from a combination of "spiro" and "pyro", so maybe Cynder's name is something similar?

Cynder: Because poor literacy is cool!

It's a play on the word "cinder", which is the burning ashes left over from a fire. LoS likes to be uninventive and name its characters after obvious physical traits (Ignitus, Terrador, Mole-Yair, Volteer, Gaul, etc.).

Would fit the theme of the names. Because you have Spyro and Cynder related to fire. Ignitus is obviously a gimmic of Ignite. Terradoor = Terracotta?. Volteer = Voltage. Cyril = Some ice thing.

It's a word-play, like Spyro-pyro (fire), Cynder-cinder (something like ashes). Easy.

There was actually a philosopher named Voltaire in the 1700s. I facepalmed when I first heard about him and made the connection. -.-

...I believe Cyril was a saint/missionary of sorts way back when. I saw the name in one of my...many dictionaries. I don't remember what religion he/she/I forgot their gender was part of, however. So, I don't think Cyril's name is reference to Ice...

As for Cynder, I think it was to match with Spyro. But for what its worth, when it comes to using 'cinder' as a name, I find the spelling with a 'Y' easier to swallow, but that's just my personal opinion. smilie Some might disagree.

It's spelt Cynder. If it was spelt Cinder, then that would mean that Cynder from the Legend Of Spyro games would be easily confused for a dragonfly from Spyro 4: Enter The Dragonfly.

Evidence.

Actually, I agree! I don't know why, I just think the spelling "Cynder" looks more feminine.

i'm not completely sure but in DotD when they first touch the magic crystal, the Chronicler doesn't say "Cynder you have ths power, plus these ones because of being exposed to the darkness" but just that she has the powers because of being exposed to it. so basically, we wouldn't know what power she would have originally had; we would probably just assume poison, which has nothing to do with fire (none of her powers do), so i don't believe that her name was corresponding to her dragon type.

her name is just to match spyro's.

sidenote: she was raised by evil apes. maybe they liked fire?

Fire has more uses than ice or earth or electric for them... And now I imagined them using her as a convection heater... [User Posted Image]

There is a phrase "burnt to a cinder". It's most like likely a reference to that, just like Spyro means "to breathe fire".

The person asked what the correct spelling was for Cynder's name. What if this person didn't ask and accidentally said Cinder? Odds are he would be insulted by everyone, and things would've turned out worse. The person just wanted to be sure. Is that such a problem to you that you have to make a random outburst?
