Correction: He was 12 in ANB and TEN so...if he was stuck in a crystal for 3 years...well then he would be 15 now. |

Gawd, not this again. The people who wrote the game and produced it, Mike Graham and Chris Wilson, have said that he didn't age in that thing. It was a time crystal and he was stuck in time for those three years. He only looks older because they changed the art style.

Well, chronologically, they are 15, but physically, they SHOULD be still 12. Although, I like them as teens anyway. *shrugs*

Whoa whoa whoa, the makers said they didn't age inthe crystal?! Can you post a link to this information please? Oh man, I now have hope for thier designs if they keep LOS! Why would they mess up thir designs so badly if they're still kids?!

It was in one of the interviews that I don't have the links to anymore, I think. Or possibly in one of the Q&A's Chris and Mike did with us back at the VUG forums (that are now gone D: ), but I'm pretty sure it was said.

But why not just give them muscle rather than fat, possibly stronger, bigger wings, and more realistic textures?

I never understood why they just didn't leave them the same. Their attempts at "epic realism" in DotD were laughable and made no sense.

^pretty much this :/ it was quite laughable xD even in TeN and ANB whenever Spyro does those kicking in the air moves, just looks so silly... |

I just prefer the old cartoony design of Spyro.

Yep. When he's cartoony, some of this stuff (like him being able to fly at all or kick butt Matrix style) is a bit more forgivable and less laughable.

The thing with LoS is that most of the moves tend to look silly on such a tiny dragon. Whereas classic doesn't take itself seriously anyway, so.....

Yeah, you seem to be able to do more with a non serious character than a serious one. If your character is SUPER serious, you can't have them act goofy, but if they're goofy already, you can incorperate a little seriousness as long as you adhere to the silliness for the most part. To see a funny character act all serious with super destructive fits of rage directed at the enemy adds to thier comedy, IMO.
NVM my example sucked, find one later.

Spyro's changes can be explaines. His time in the crystal would have been like he was comatose, meaning loss of muscle from lack of use. And he could have aged a bit.

I really don't know, but in my opinion, I think I actually prefer his design in DotD, it's just that to me, his mouth and his back legs are kinda weird. So maybe the ANB/TEN style and DotD style, compliment each other? |

I just think that the "crystal" actually had the properties of a protective cocoon.

Well, they never did explain it. I love when storylines leave a lot unexplained, actually. It lets me use common sense to work things out.....it's like a detective game comes with the game!

Hmmmm... His legs are very short and stumpy and barely hold his body but that somehow passes... BUT why are the front ones so muscley and the back ones so scrawny?!? It's neither artistically nor scientifically correct- which is a shame, since the whole idea behind the pose is fantastic- c'mon, Spyro facing the light of a raging fire, poised to battle until the end? AWESOME.
