Chapter 47~
We stood at the entrance of the castle. It was more intimidating than ever. We were on edge. An ant couldn’t have crawled over a stone without us noticing.
We were in out human forms. No one would recognize Kelp, and only my friends would recognize me.
I took a step forward, but Kelp didn’t follow. I looked back, confused. We had been in the castle before, what was keeping him from entering it again?
"Oh, that's right. You like her."
Fyre’s words came back to me. Wow, I was an idiot. Kelp had a crush on me the entire time, and I had never stopped to notice. Too many things were happening too quickly. It felt like yesterday that I had discovered being a dragon. I looked at the doors again. They were different. Darker. It seemed like once I stepped through them, my life would end. And yet I didn’t imagine really dying...
So that was how Kelp felt.
Crap.
We stood there, keeping a distance from the doors. I knew neither of us was going to enter, unless one of us said something. And I had absolutely no idea what to say.
But I had to say it anyways.
“Kelp?” I asked. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
“I know.” He interrupted. “I’ve never been able to tell you. How could I? All of my family, except for Rose, is evil. There wasn’t a possibility. I held on to the hope that you’d say something. But for a long time, you didn’t. So I decided to ignore it.” There was pain in his eyes. I once again felt like heartless idiot of the year.
I grabbed his hand. He looked at me, surprised. “Kelp...I love you.”
I looked down. It was a while before he responded. “I love you, too.” I looked up at him, and he kissed me. My heart skipped a beat. I felt like I was on top of the world.
But then, I realized, we were alone. Shadow was trying to kill us, and I had betrayed my friends. Kelp and I were dead meat if anyone found us.
I started shaking in fear. I couldn’t face Shadow, or my friends. So much was happening...
Kelp read my mind. “No one can blame you for what happened.” I was still scared out of my wits. “Listen, you aren’t alone. You’re never alone. Someone will always be there to help you.” I finally calmed down a bit. “And I’ll always love you.” It felt like 5 tons was just lifted off my chest.
I looked at the doors again. They suddenly didn’t seem as threatening as before. I felt a little braver. I welcomed whatever was lying beyond them.
We finally went inside, ready to fight, ready to back each other up, ready to die if needed.
Kelp tapped my shoulder. We both stopped. The others were close. We moved slowly. Being seen=thumbs down.
We slowly followed the five dragons until they came into an open room. I stopped. That room was where Shadow had taken control of me. I felt a hand grab mine. An unspoken message.
We're working together. We are one.
We slipped into the room, ducking into the shadows.
“Where is she?” Rose asked.
“Right here.” Shadow walked in.
“One against five? Too easy.” Karen muttered.
“Wrong.” A voice said. It sounded familiar, but there was something different. “Two against five. And two very strong dragons at that.” RC stepped out from behind Shadow. She was older, and there was an evil glint in her eyes.
Karen and Alondra looked petrified. Meghan and Kaitlyn looked at her in disbelief. And Rose was glaring at Shadow.
“You will never stop with corrupting dragons, will you?” She asked.
“Well, it seems that my old allies have either died or betrayed me. And Renee is more powerful than you ever were.” On cue, RC shot a ball of shadow at Rose. She barely dodged in time.
RC jumped forwards, pushing over Meghan. Rose lunged for Shadow. Shadow sidestepped quickly, and yawned.
“You’re going to have to do better than that.” She said, then swiped at Rose and backed off quickly.
RC was between Karen, Alondra, Meghan, and Kaitlyn. She smirked, and started to glow. I threw myself at her, already in dragon form before she fell to the ground. She looked at me for a second, confused. Then she tried to bite my leg. I lashed out with my front leg, hitting her head. She growled and stood up, pushing me off her. Alondra attacked while RC was still focused on me. Once she was turned around and focused on Alondra, Kaitlyn attacked. Then Karen. And Meghan. I glanced back at Kelp. He had obviously seen the tactic and planned to copy it. He silently walked around the room, trying to find a good position to attack. I figured that he was fine, and then turned my attention back to the battle with RC. Before I could attack, I was pushed over. I turned to see Kelp lying on the ground where I stood a second before. Shadow tail-swiped him. Then she turned again towards Rose. I ran over to Kelp. I knew what had happened. He saved me from being killed by Shadow. Again. And she had made sure to give him another fatal blow in addition to the first.
He wasn’t breathing. He was dead. I knew it. A puddle of blood grew bigger every second. But it didn’t matter at that point. It wasn’t possible to save him.
I growled, then barreled into Shadow. She was taken off guard. I ran under her and scratched her stomach. Blood spurted onto me, and I didn’t care. Shadow barely had time to figure out what had happened. My attack was so sudden and fierce. I breathed fire, and it hit her shoulder. She tail-swiped me, and it hit my front leg, but I didn’t feel the pain. She threw an earth boulder at me. I ducked then bit her neck. She shook me off, and I fell with a thud.
Suddenly, the room seemed to change color. That or it was just me. But everything became red. I knew what this was. I had been through it before. But I wasn’t able to resist at all, and I barely noticed the change. Something more powerful than Shadow.
Shadow looked up, expecting something. Then, she looked at Rose. She smirked, and Rose ran to attack. They were covered in a black mist, and after a minute it faded. Rose was the only one that remained.
I slowly felt myself turn back to normal. No one had noticed me. I had turned dark without anyone knowing. I felt relieved.
I saw RC return to her normal form, too. Everyone stopped fighting. The room was quiet. We were all still for a second. Then I remembered Kelp.
Since he had died, I had only felt rage. Rage and something else. At that point I still had no idea what that thing was. But once the fight had ended, I was hit with an overwhelming sadness. At first the thought of Shadow’s death made me feel better. But after she was gone, I realized it hadn’t helped.
I realized Kelp’s body was right next to me. Shadow had flung me right next to him. I turned into a human without really meaning to, but I didn’t notice. I kneeled down next to Kelp’s body and started crying. This could not be happening.
Rose had come out of the room, and when she entered again Spyro and Cynder were walking alongside her. They were weak, but Shadow must’ve been doing more than under feeding them, because they were stronger than last time I saw them.
Meghan and Kaitlyn hesitantly went over to see them, while Karen and Alondra went over to me. Thinking back now I realize that they had no idea who Kelp even was. But they still tried to comfort me. I saw that Rose was trying not to cry, too. He was her brother, after all. And, all that time...she thought he was dead. The one time she saw him, he did die.

(sorry for the double post, i went over the limit for one post)
We went towards Warfang, but none of us talked along the way. I was still crying my eyes out. We passed by Sonata’s house, and stopped there. She was surprised to see me with seven other dragons(including Spyro and Cynder)but she let us all in. I went up to the guest room where I had spent the night in. I sat on the bed Kelp slept on, while Rose sat on mine. No one came in.
“I wish this had never happened.” I said.
“Everything, or just Kelp’s death.” Rose asked me.
“Everything, since it includes Kelp’s death.” I answered. Rose sat next to me
“Shadow is dead. Everything is alright now.”
“No, it’s not. One, I feel like I was hit by a freaking car. And two, nothing will be the same without Kelp here. I would give anything to turn back time, have me be the one dead.”
Rose sighed. “There is one thing that I can do.”
“You can turn back time?” I asked.
“No. But I can make you forget all of this and send you back to the human universe. It won’t bring Kelp back from the dead, but it’s something.”
I sat in silence for a moment, thinking it over. How could I forget Kelp? But...I was in so much pain I felt like committing suicide. Which might have make me forget Kelp, depending on what exactly happens when you die.
“I’ll do it.”
