As I said before, "Spyro" sign in Japanese looks like "Ripto", so maybe Spyro is really called Ripto? Who knows smilie

Maybe in Japanese sign "Ripto" is same like "Spyro"? If this is true It would be the most bizzare thing I`ve ever seen smilie.

Nah, it's スパイロ - The kana for 'Supairo'. The idea for Ripto was gained from the title font used.

Ripto is リプトー 'Riputo'.

Whoa, Razz! smilie . . . I thought you left this forum a long time ago.

Anyway. Cool find there. This could work for wonders for some users here who wanted to know a lot about Spyro's Origins.

GREAT pictures. Thanks for posting. The storybook-style manual is amazing. Lucky Japanese. Also

Quote:
BEHOLD, the cover! Let's compare and contrast, shall we? Compare to the North American cover. Spyro is much cuter and rounded-out in Japan, and seemingly and less ~dangerous~. I think he's adorable like this, but it's really amusing to see how he's portrayed differently between the cultures. Japan likes cute mascot-y things and America likes wise-cracking "badasses", I guess! And Sparx is always green in this version.

Interesting.

I hate the Japanese Spyro games.
They edited alot of unwanted things, and now it sucks. >:c
They Japanese even said it was the worst game they had ever had! D:

Reasons:
1. Unwanted signs.
2. You just fade in and fade out when you go to a whirl wind or portal.
3. They edited all the awesome things out of levels. In the Artisan Home, you know the little tower you use to get to Town Square? Yeah, that has no roof.

What? Are there rules in Japan to add such things?

And GamingMaster_76, that means your copy isn't 100% sadly. Most games don't come with them, mine neither smilie
Did yours come with the Ape Escape demo?

Ah, my seller actually admitted it was missing the card. He also said it was dirty, but it looked minty clean when I got it o_o

I think the one with the demo is a 1st edition, from what I know smilie

Yeah Japanese Spyro is Epic I also own a copy got it a few months ago off Ebay for £24. Mine is incomplete but just comes with the cute story art manual and Ape Escape demo. I Also have a incomplete copy of Spyro 2(just disc and case no manual, or front cover) off Yahoo Japan and I must say that it is harder to get in comparison to Spyro 1.
I Love Spyro's Japanese voice 2nd place to the English ones and the signs in the games didn't really bother me.
The manual however is awesome and I love the style smilie.

Who was the colorblind dude who said green would be a good color for Sparx?

Everyone knows green Sparx is a symbol of imminent death.

This is cool, anyway. Thanks for sharing. smilie
