Yeah, uhh, you're definitely asking for a flame war. TLoS has it's fans, and if you're not a fan of it, why waste your time on it and not just leave it alone? Whether you like it or not, it happened. End of story.

Why? Why do some fans always want to make a topic that will start a flame war without thinking ahead? Why? Especially if those fans don't like a side of the franchise to even care about it?

I don't think TLoS games were that bad. I mean, they didn't feel like a spyro game, but they were pretty good at times.

When I look at the STD Spyro Games and the The LOS Spyro games I can't help but think of them as two entirely different series. They just use a few similar looking characters with the same name. To me the two sets of games have equal rights to exist.

For me, if they don't make another old version Spyro game with the original characters wit the same personalities, then Shadow Legacy would be the last in that Spyro series for me.

To me ANB was the beginning of something wholy different that cannot be compared to the other Spyro games any more than other fantacy games could be.

Most fans who dislike LOS don't play them anymore now that they've beaten them. I and many others playe d them just to try it and 'give it a chance'. Make sense?

I mean, they still play the Spyro games after the original trilogy even though they keep saying Spyro is dead.

You mean they replay the old games? Of course they do, why abandon fun games just coz they stopped making them like they used to?

If you mean they play the games after the first three or something, perhaps they are just looking for the next decent installment of Spyro.

Personally, I think that, although nothing has come out that's as good as the first three games, the GBA games of the old series(with the exclusion of Spyro orange) came as close to the originals as something on a system like that can get. They stick with the same basic gameplay, the characters keep their personalities and they've got well thought out stories. Sure, Grendor from SOI was easy and the graphics couldn't get anywhere near as good as those on the videogame systems but otherwise, they were great.

Activision would have missed out on over 6 million units shifted, thus about £180/$250 in revenue from that alone.

Same here. The Spyro games went down hill when AHT and TLOS came in, AHT killing the series. ;__;

This deserves a sticky. Why? People need to blow off steam about TLOS. This is the perfect way to do it.

I've noticed that while many people here love TLOS more than the originals (and think DOTD is the best game ever made... ugh....), if you look outside the site, everyone hates TLOS, and think the series went down hill after Insomniac gave up the series.

Shows how much this site attracts people under 11, who weren't there when the first Spyro game was made. Young kids these days aren't into plat-formers, friendly characters (with a personality) and humor no more. Now it's all about emo music, horribly dramatic storyline, characters with no personality and constantly pressing that same button over and over to win. TLOS fits under all those categories perfectly.

IMO, they should have stopped the games after ether YOTD or ETD......

What I think they should have done was take time to complete ETD before releasing it. It was good but they meant it to be better. If they had finished, the original Spyro might have still had it's popularity. Heck, they might have stuck with the style that made him so popular to begin with.

Of course, on the down side that might have meant no AHT. I can't say anything for SL being that I've never played it. It would have also probably meant that the LOS trilogy would have never even been considered.

Of course, for all I know, if things had gone that way Spyro might not even be more than a memory at this point. Of course, this is all just speculation and is neither here nor there.

It didn't need the change to "survive". There were other things they could have done, like going back and remaking ETD. TLOS did nothing to the series, and it's like trying to fix a broken glass with sticky tape, it just doesn't work out not matter how much you try. If they did went back to fix ETD, and then continue the series from there again (as if AHT and SL never happened), it's like fixing a broken mug with super glue, and can work out great if done right.

Remaking ETD, remaking ETD... Sorry, but I doubt it. That game was released eight years ago, DarkCynder. You think Activision would do remake of a game that old, over an idea they have in store for the next game, possibly for money from that new game?

Read my post again. I'm talking about not making TLOS, and starting again from YOTD again, remaking ETD and continuing on from there....

Pokemon Gold and Silver got a remake, remember, that game was on the Game Boy Colour.

Different game company, DarkCynder. This is Activision we're talking about. Not the kind of game company who would do remakes, especially if they're money-driven.
