They were kind of in DOTD... There were those little baskets that had spirit gems in... But yeah, I do miss them...

Yeah, they're alright. It made the game more interesting.

Spyro's animation looks more realistic than DOTD, when he is breathing in DOTD he looks like he's trying to hump the ground

Breaking containers feels fun actually. Seeing them shatter and retrieving a gem from it feels addictive. Flame or charge, it's good. :3

Ironically, while I looked at this thread, I came up a new extension of using containers. Like if you run and break 10 containers in a row without stopping, you received all the gems. If not, you have to start all over again as the broken containers reappear. Just throwing an idea. :p

Thanks for the reactions you two. I had another idea about containers, but that was like a few months ago. It's a charge-proof container -- basically the opposite of a metal container. You can only flame it to break the container, not charge at it.

If there was a level dedicated to those containers, it would consist of caves full of containers -- which each section like a puzzle to get around the stuff while breaking those objects. And the only thing that will hinder you is the low hit points you can get from the cave, since there's rarely any butterflies inside. Just throwing another idea, but as a level. x3

I miss how they used to explode when you hit them.

OH! Does anyone remember the boxes of fireworks that used to fly into the air and break when they fell when you flamed them? They should have rooms full of those containers, but instead of breaking they should fly up and EXPLODE and then rain gems down on you, blowing up one after another. They did that before with the breaking boxes and it was awesome!


Speaking of fireworks, does anyone remember the monsters in the level Bamboo Terrace from Spyro 3 which had rockets on thier backs? Remember how you could flame the rocket and send it flying into a wall? good times, good times!

those rhynocs with fireworks were fun to flame xD they just blast of into oblivion D: x3!
Bamboo terrace was a really fun level, those pandas are so cute

oh hey remember the armored containers that couldn't be broken by regular means of flame or bash? Yeah, those were awesome cuz there was always another way to break it.

Some required Keys didn't they? Like in Y.O.T.D The tiki world? there was a run way that you had chase the egg thief's and at the beginning of that level there was a container with a lock on it? Right?

I always used to run over the supercharge and just destroy the crate that way.
Anyone remember the boxes in Spyro one with the fanst on them that you had to continually flame to get them to break? Or the crates with bull's eyes on them in Spyro 3?
