Spyro vs Spyro [CLOSED]

LOS's eyes stand out more though.

Its the eyebrows, old Spyro has heavier eyebrows that:
1) make his eyes look smaller by comparison
2) in many pictures his eyes are narrowed, so you see less of them

Ugh. Did this topic really need to be revived? Here, I'll solve the argument for everyone right now:

Neither version of Spyro is real. Whoever you like best, regardless of "evidence" presented for or against him, is who will win. Arguing doesn't change anyone's mind, it just reaffirms what they already thought.

If you've read back further in this post, y'all know already that I think old Spyro would win, but I also don't like LoS Spyro, so of course I'd compile "evidence" to support my claims. When it boils down to it, though, we're all literally wasting our time over something entirely pointless.

^ He may have more powers, but they are limited, giving original spyro the advantage. TLOS may be able to fly, but original Spyro can drive a UFO. And Legend of Spyro won't fight anyone who is on his side, just like how he wouldn't fight Cynder in TEN. Original Spyro wouldn't back down from a challenge. Plus, original Spyro has the advantage if they both crash into each other (you can see it just by looking at their horns).

Just pointing out something here.

No it's not! They're both very kiddish but at least original Spyro never tried to be anything but. LOS is so full of cleche ideas and over the top seriousness it's like it started as a joke representation of Spyro but ppl liked it all the same so they kept it (I know this not to be the case but I almost wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true). LOS takes itself so seriously when really it's not all that dark or deep that I couldn't take it seriously even when I used to like it. And now? Tch, it's like a crappy joke the makers tried to play on the fans.

Pfft. Hardly. The old games had a villain who outright said he was going to kill every single fairy, nearly fed one live to a monster, and was generally violent and savage. And let us not forget the other villain who had no qualms against ripping the wings off baby dragons (aka, maiming children), possibly killing them in the process. There are also a large number of accidental and intentional homicides (played for laughs, but still murder) in the original games.

By comparison, LoS is just wishes it could be that dark (and tries way too hard to be so). There are some implications in the games that they're supposed to be dark, but when it comes down to it, the villains are little more than Saturday-morning caricatures and their evil schemes are more two-dimensional than a piece of paper.

Ripto - power hungry Napoleon wannabe with a penchant for violence and savagery; he's petty, mean, cruel, and throwing him into lava is very satisfying

Sorceress - also power hungry but in a semi-motherly, very abusive fashion; she's vicious in that subtle, manipulative way, making her pawns (especially Bianca) feel like it's their own fault when she abuses them

Red - not a particularly engaging villain, but he was at least a mad scientist who dabbled in robotics and genetic engineering

Malefor - wants to take over the world ("Of course!" */M. Bison*) and/or destroy it and that's pretty much his entire character; Gaul and Cynder had a lot more personality than he did, but even they are just trope cut-outs from the same over-used fantasy themes we're all getting sick of

LoS takes itself so seriously so hard that it comes out the other end. The first time I played ANB, as soon as Ignitus started speaking, I started laughing. It's so epic it hurts (because you'll find yourself laughing so hard). LoS is the thing that the original Spyro games parodied, and that makes me sad to know that something so fun and innovative in its day has come to this.

Three years, starting 2005 after SL, to do the LoS game trilogy before the merger between Activision and Sierra. If the merger was held off, then the trilogy would've been complete.

If they did try to continue the LoS games after the merger happened, taking their time and adding what's missing in the story which makes the games longer, Activision might've done something stupid, like stopping the trilogy from completing, and leaving one major cliff-hanger and plothole in the recreation of the Spyro franchise.

Given that old Spyro fought a lot of enemies in groups, I think he'd be fine. Since he has unlimited fire breath, he could set most of his enemies on fire, charge the ones with armor on and then set them on fire, and head bash the little ones.

Quote: NEW_SpyroLUVA
LOS Spyro fights large groups too. Then again it takes him a long time to kill ONE enemy, old Spyro could probably kill a whole TEN sized hoard in the time it takes new Spyro to kill five.

Legend of Spyro is cool, but the original wins. These are reasons why.

I think HIR speaks a lot of sense. Like I said much earlier, the Spyro you like best wins.

LoS could have been a lot better than it was and it's a shame DotD did what it did to the trilogy. But, cest le ve. We don't live in the universe where Krome was kept on as the developer.

Also, apologies for the bitey rant I did above. I'm not fond of LoS for many reasons (the things it teaches kids, it's transparent attempt to be epic, the pointless pop culture references that instantly date it, 95% of its fans...) but I don't have anything against people who like it. To each his own.

Well i have to agree the original has "spunk" and the legend has more power legend can turn dark any time place of choosing. original can drive fly ect. vehicles but whos to say legend cant in fact drive fly ect.
and plus legend can fly anytime he chooses and has more elements and dont forget for legend fury attack. im at a draw with this one right now well New spyro luva i have an interesting thought the 2 could indeed fight each other BUT it would be the players choice to see who wins ether pick original or legend say i pick original legend would fight me or the other way around its how much skill you have to win say if this really WAS a game

^sounds cool, but as I said:

Quote: NEW_SpyroLUVA
What if they worked together? I forsee many comical clashes of personality, maybe a nice blend of attitude meets ridiculously over powered, versatile gameplay; you can fly and button mash or use tools, vehicles, weapons and power ups along with basic abilities.I'd play it!
A fight between old and new would be a really bad move on Activision's part. If the fight progressed through more than one game, the time in between would be filled with flame wars. If one won over the other, the fans of the losing version would be indignant, angry, and maybe stop playing Spyro all together, depending on how much they loved the losing dragon. The fans of the winning version would make things worse with gloating and "I told you so's". Another slew of flame wars would ensue. As interesting as the idea may be, the two eras should never meet. Who agrees?

EDIT: Unless we combine aspects of the two, but still have just one Spyro.

There wasn't even water in TLoS, so we wouldn't know. The water-like liquids in TLoS were all poisonous or acidic or whatever. And TLoS Spyro doesn't depend on a dragonfly to stay alive.

But he has to do something to trigger it. And it has to be something really bad. I doubt fighting original Spyro will trigger it.

I'm just going to point out as much things as I can in this post.... so... yeah. xD

People keep on saying that TLOS has more powers, but I think they're equal.

TLOS Spyro has earth, ice, electricity and fire. Original Spyro has Electricity, fire, ice, water AND bubble. He can trap Sparx in a bubble. 8D

TLOS Spyro has secondary attacks for his breaths, and so does original Spyro. Just play AHT.

TLOS Spyro has all thoughs melee moves. Original Spyro has head bash, charge.... he can SWIM as well as climb and he can spin around on a poll. And I'm pretty sure there are other moves that I've missed.

TLOS Spyro's breaths are limited. Once he has run out of power, he can't use them anymore, and he is helpless. Only original Spyro's secondary attack is limited. He can still use his breaths.

TLOS Spyro can fly (which killed a joke in the Spyro games. Spyro wasn't supposed to fly). But original Spyro can drive a UFO.

Original Spyro can use his horns. TLOS can't. You might as well just rip TLOS Spyro's horns off since they are no use.

TLOS has to attack over and over to take down ONE enemy. Plus he has to do a long dance in the air. Original Spyro and take down one enemy by simply charging into them. By the time original Spyro takes down 5 enemys, TLOS would have only taken down two.

Heck TLOS Spyro won't even fight Original Spyro. He is too soft.

Actually, original spyro is more powerful then TLOS.

Well, original Spyro only got ice, eletricity, water and bubble from the stone thingys (ETD) and from the faires in AHT.
TLOS also has fury atttacks, too.
I think LOS would win.

So? He could still use them, and it's unlimited. TLOS Spyro's breaths are limited.

TLOS Spyro can only use his fury if he collects enough purple gems. Original Spyro just has to destroy the purple crystals around the field, if there is any, and TLOS Spyro can't use his furys. Even if he did have enough power to do a fury, he wouldn't do it. He would just say, "I wouldn't fight you!" or something around thoughs lines, giving original Spyro the chance to kick his ass.

Wow... I'm actually ENJOYING this. O.o *sips ice tea, then walks away* .........

EDIT: *Facepalm* Sorry for double posting. I keep on forgetting that there is a multy quote button underneath anyone's post. >.>

Me, too, but then I realized I was arguing about fictional dragons from a good to mediocre series of kids' video games. If I'm going to expend time having nerd rage, I at least want to do it something worthwhile, like mythology or the proper use of psychiatric disease terminology. smilie

Both the Old and the LoS Spyro are aweome in their own way.

Think of what you think of both of them. If you love Original Spyro, love him. If you love Legend Spyro, love him. If you hate one of the two, hate 'em and his games all you want.

I for one enjoy both Spyro(s). smilie I love the original's bad-ass cockiness and Legend's compassionate and kindness.

Support which you ever want to support, and if people don't respect your opinion--well, it's their loss. Your opinion should only matter to yourself no matter what other people think of it. smilie

Agreed with pretty much everything said there. I like both, and it depends on your taste. If You like Original, play original. If you like TLoS, play TLoS. The reators both had entirely different personalities in mind for Spyro, and different abilities.
I try to think of it as this: Original Spyro and TLoS are completely different dragons. Same concept, but everything else is different. People are going on and on with their opinions because nobody is ging to give up their own, and we don't like hearing crap about things we like, so it's just going to go back and forth. We all have our own reasons to like each Spyro, and that's not going to change.

hmm I don't really think he has been trained for a long time in combat...
He just kinda accidentally triggered his powers in ANB ...
In TEN he had to recover them via some wierd dreams and then he was trapped in a time crystal for 3 years lulz
Sure he was taught some moves but but not trained for a loong time
And in DoTD he knows everything :l some wierd shoop da woop ability (now where did this come from?, oh and Cynder can do it too for some reason...=/ )
