I prefer Spyro as a regular dragon who has this special destiny. I like to think of him rising out of nothingness to become the savior of the world. I love that kind of story.

I do like that kind of story too. Just a laid back dragon who suddenly hears of evil and saves the world. Out of nowhere...

I've always preferred Spyro being a regular dragon (like he was in the old games). It meant that anyone could be a hero and you didn't have to be born special to be somebody. LoS Spyro annoys me because he is literally only a hero because life dealt him the right cards. That's not how it works in reality and it really gets under my skin that we are telling our kids they can't be special through their own hard work. */soapbox*

I prefer Spyro as a rare breed. In my opinion, in The Legend of Spyro trilogy, Spyro acted more like a dragon. At least in The Legend of Spyro trilogy he didn't have to pay Moneybags every time he had to learn something new (evil Moneybags!).
Also, in the original series, it almost seems like all of the other adult dragons are completely helpless, while Spyro is superior (like when Spyro has to rescue all of the eggs from the Sorcerer, and when all of the dragons are turned to stone except Spyro). However, in The Legend of Spyro trilogy, Spyro wasn't the only one being heroic. I know in The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, all of the guardians stayed at the temple while Spyro went out rescuing everyone. However, Ignitus, Volteer, Cyril, and Terrador are really old then. I mean, three years later (in Dawn of the Dragon) Hunter says that Ignitus is an elder dragon. But Ignitus did confront a bunch of apes while he and Spyro were first at the temple (even for an old dragon, you got to admit, he had some awesome moves). This is just my opinion, but I think The Legend of Spyro trilogy Spyro is more realistic.
