I don't think the chain works like that. It only binds them together, it doesn't interact with any other objects. :/

I think it passed through things like bushes, grasses, trees, rocks and pillars. Maybe the same happens to living things.

I won't be able to choke enemies, as NEW_SpyroLUVA said. It does actually pass through enemies. But yes, it would be cool if that happened!

Wait, what do you mean I won't be able to? Are you one of those kids who thinks/pretends they are Cynder.Spyro?

Ironicly I used that as an idea in Dub of the Dragon... Anyway, yes... I think that should have been a good idea... Maybe not to strangle enemys but to kinda like... Tie them up... |

That would probably bring the rating to T. But still a cool idea

If the chain were solid, they would have killed each other just by flying. While it'd be neat if they could strangle their enemies, the chain is not solid. All it does is hold them together but allows everything else to pass through it.

If the chain is not solid, how come Cynder bit it in the cut seen at the end of twilight falls, it didnt go through her and shes a living thing.

If you look in that scene, you'll see that Cynder was biting the collar that held the chain to her neck and not the chain itself. The chain won't pass through Spyro or Cynder because it's designed to hold them together without strangling them, which means they can fly around without being hanged on everything that comes between them.

Okay, she is biting the chain itself, but, again, the chain is only solid when it is holding Spyro and Cynder together. Once she stopped chewing on it, it's physical appearance disappeared. It's designed so that they can't get it off but so that it won't kill them if they hit something. You see things go between them in the game all the time.

I don't know how a magic chain would know the difference between trying to get it off, and running into something...

You just answered your own question. It's magic. If you really must have an explanation, here's one off the top of my head: the chains were created by Malefor specifically to bind Spyro and Cynder, and only those two, together without killing them (kind of a dumb evil thing to create, but Malefor struck me as the kind of villain who didn't think anything through in DotD). Because the chains are made to fit their bodies, they can tell if either dragon is trying to get free while not having any effect on other solid objects or living creatures. |

Actually it is possible to come up with a reasonable explanation for everything Malefor does, except for why the chain does not hurt Spyro and Cynder. Basically it existed largely for game mechanics (keep Spyro and Cynder together). |

What I want to know is why he didn't just kill them when they were frozen in time. He knew where they were, they were helpless, and he clearly had the power to do it. And yet... He's not as bright as he was leading us to believe in the other two games.

Simple: ritual sacrifice. Now what he would gain from that is up to debate. Clearly something that out wieghed the risk. (Say, more power for him?) |

well his plan wasn't really to kill spyro and cynder because he left them for the golem but his plan was to destroy the world wich is really silly because he is on the world so he would die yer i suppose he is pritty stupid

Malefor planned on sacrificing Spyro and Cynder to the Golem in the Catacombs when he ordered his minions to find them and shackle them with the tether, since he has no more need for the two dragons. But they escaped, and they were stuck with the green tether still on them until they defeated Malefor.

Nah, clearly he planned to remake it before he died. After all, he surely knew that a new world was to come about after the Destroyer did its thing... and he planned to be the one to make the second part occur in a way that suited him. Villains typically look stuiped unless you think that their actions are meant to achieve something bigger than their stated goal. |

What was implied by Malefor is that he would destroy the world, himself included, and it would be reformed. That was the goal of the purple dragon, according to him. He already died once, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't care if he died again. He probably figured he was powerful enough to overcome a second death or he outright didn't care since he firmly believed that destruction was his destiny.

That's what I said to begin with. It's magic. But a few folks wanted a logic explanation, so there you go. *shrug*
TEN implies strongly that Malefor died, crushed under a mountain that he brought down on himself with his own evil. His spirit was powerful enough to break free, though, so Convexity was created to keep that from happening. |
