Its just a made up element in TLOS series, but in ANB the second boss level is also called convexity...

Dark Spyro has the ability to breath it. It's like a powerful, purple beam and they used it to defeat Malefor. It's also called Purple/Dark Fury.

Convexity is the final level in ANB. You fight Cynder there after she sets in motion its destruction with the crystal containing Ignitus' powers.

It's a small dimension that exists to keep Malefor from escaping. I always assumed that it had been created by Guardians in the past to keep Malefor trapped in the spirit realms after he died. Cynder's goal in ANB was to destroy Convexity, and she succeeded.
