Ignitus did die. He says so himself when he talks to Spyro near the end. When he died, since he was a fire Guardian, his spirit became bound up in the element of fire.
The role of Chronicler is given to a dragon who has proved himself worthy in his life. The Chronicler's job, so to speak, is to record and watch over the events of the world until the age of the world's existence that he is in has passed. The Chronicler that Spyro met was alive when Malefor was still alive (and may have been one of his teachers). When he died, he became the record keeper of the age that existed between Malefor's awakening as the destructive purple dragon and his defeat. Once Malefor was gone, that age of the world was over and new Chronicler, Ignitus, was chosen to record the events of the new age started by Spyro.

That the Chronicler knew where Spyro was. But wanted Ignitus to find out for himself giving him some experience to handle the job.
So the Chronicler's element would be time itself then?

It's an interesting theory, but I don't think it really holds up. The Chronicler seemed the sort who didn't lie. If he said he couldn't find Spyro in any of the books, it was probably true. Or perhaps by then the mantle had already passed from him and he couldn't read the books at all. Who's to say?
I don't think the Chronicler has an element at all. As we saw with Ignitus, when a dragon becomes Chronicler, his element is taken away. All he is is a keeper of knowledge who has no control over anything outside the White Isle. |

Unless experience overthrows color. (Spirit gems/ Blue color?) As of the moment Ignitus took over.
I really think the Chronicler was playing Spyro in TEN. Trying to keep him safe in a cave. Just to boost Spyro's ego. I don't think the Chronicler's stupid. He knows how everything will respond.

good point. The Chronicler is like the wisest dragon in all the lands. it had been his duty for "many mellinia" so called. which means he's ancient. surely he would have enough experiance to know how things respond and how he can help. He never did things without a purpose.

I got the impression off the Chronicler in TEN that he was manipulating things for his own ends. Because he wanted Spyro to be a certain place, he nearly killed the little guy no less than three times, and his schemes resulted in the deaths of countless creatures.

He had to take precautions. the first bit was just security. the second bit with four portals where you can only use one element was to make sure he was a purple dragon. And lastly, the bit with the worst fear was to make sure it wasn't Malefor, who's worst fear was different to Spyro's. He knew what spyro's worst fear was.

Oh, I'm not talking about the security on the White Isle. That, at least, makes sense. I'm talking about sending Spyro to the forest, where Spyro ended up killing hordes of local wildlife, nearly being killed by Arborik, and killing Arborik. Then he got abducted by pirates, all of whom died horribly because of Spyro's presence on their airships. The Chronicler also summoned Spyro into his training dreams at very dangerous moments when Spyro really didn't need to be unconscious: in a deadly forest, in a gladiatorial arena, while flying (which nearly drowned him). And then, to top it all off, the Chronicler wanted Spyro to stay with him and let the world be destroyed, killing everyone who live on it. That just sounds like an evil manipulator to me.

You do realize it was ignitus that sent Spyro to the Grove don't you? Not the Chronicler. He told him he needed to find that tree because that would lead him to the pirates, who would lead him to the map that would enable him to find him. As for all the times he nearly got killed. The Chronicler knew he would survive

Ignitus would not have sent Spyro to the Grove is the Chronicler hadn't first hinted to Spyro that he should go there. As for Spyro needing the map, he didn't use it because the Chronicler knocked him out (nearly drowning/killing him on impact in the process) and got the turtle to bring him there. The Chronicler is a master manipulator and I just can't help but see his actions as being more evil and disturbing than I'm sure the producers intended them to be.

How else would he have gotten to the White Isle WITHOUT the map on the pirate ship tho?
He wanted spyro to come to him in the forest to see if he would obey. He did, and It wasn't the chronicler. THEN he said where he was, cause he KNEW spyro would obey, and come. I don't think he knew what was happening at the times spyro was summoned in his dreams. He wouldn't have done that to spyro (nearly killing him) deliberatly. The turtle just happened to be there, just like in ANB, leading spyro to Dantes Freezer. |

the Chronicler i don't think could see him until Spyro actually came to white Isle. he didn't know that Spyro was flying or in the arena when he pulled him into unconciousness. It just happened to be inconveiniant times.

Actualy, every time Spyro fell unconcious it was always for a reason. 1. To wait until the temple would be attacked 2. So Spyro could make it to the underground grove 3. So the tournament would be delayed slightly 4. So Leviathon could take him to the celestial caves |

How else is he going to communicate to Spyro? But the Chronicler could've tried contacting him while Spyro's sleeping.

The Chronicler knows everything that happens in the world outside his home. That's all he does, remember? So he knew exactly what he was doing and when. It's all way too suspicious for my tastes.
And, I'll repeat, not all of us think Spyro's dead, but we don't think he's alive, either. |

Meh. You're yelling and decision to believe what you like doesn't change my mind. I don't think they're alive, but I don't think they're dead and I have my reasons for thinking that. No one else has to agree with me; it's just the conclusion I got from the game and the stuff implied in the two games that came before it.
It's only the end of the topic if no one else wants to talk about it or explore different possibilities. |

Though I don't think Spyro is alive, I think they can easily continue the franchise from this point. As I said above, I think he is now forever a child and the heart of his world along with Cynder. The two of them can go on to have lots of adventures in this state.

They could have killed him off. I doubt they did, because of the cutscene at the end, but they could have killed him off as an end to the story. They might not want to make another LOS game.
They might make another reboot if they really want to carry on with Spyro.

According to me, I don't really care what is done with the Spyro franchise. It died with AHT as far as I'm concerned, so it's been in a zombie-like state ever since.
As for how LoS might continue even though Spyro is not technically alive anymore, I think it would just be another adventure for him to save the world, only instead of being a creature who lives on it, he's the heart of it instead. Stop being lazy and read my explanations for this theory on the first page. I'm tired of re-writing it. |

Well, it has been said that these three LoS games were merely an introduction to the new characters and a new world, a start for new adventure..
Though I'm not so naive to think that game developers always keep their promises, I still think that Spyro is alive.. Maybe I'm just too childish to believe that they would actually kill off a character that has got so many loving fans.. It was exactly the same situation with Halo 3, now that I remember.. |
