i like them both the same but i prefer the legend trilogy. probablly cuz their based a little more around my age(or teens if u prefer). but the old 1's were gr8t aswell.

I like Old a bit more, but DotD made me change my opinion of the new.

I love the old ones! LOS was really fun, but I miss what Spyro used to be.

I much prefer the old ones, specifically the games by Insomniac. They had fun, simple stories, memorable characters, creative art, great music, and were fun to play to boot.

Next on the list is AHT. Not particularly fun to play or good on story, but the voice acting is so bad and the humor so self-deprecating that I find it all quite hilarious.

LoS really isn't on the list for me anymore. It was never fun to play and what little good there was to the story and characters was destroyed by DotD. The art and music is still sometimes nice, I guess.

EtD isn't even a game. It's some obscure form of torture. It has one good song in it and that's the nicest thing I have to say about it.

i like DOTD but i prefer ANB. I H8ted 10 it was 2 dull n gloomy for my tastes.

Bad Graphics? What? Unless you're playing the DS/Mobile version, the Console version has the best graphics out of the 3 hands down. Combat was WAY better, it wasn't repetitive and your breaths weren't extremely overpowered.

Also, what were some of the plot holes?

I've got to say that it cracks me up that people think DotD is the first time Spyro could really fly and that their flight mechanic was done well. For my money, the flight levels in the very first Spyro game (especially Gnasty's Loot) were far superior to the entire flight mechanic of DotD. You weren't restricted by any invisible barriers once you got that last thief and the controls were much smoother and less buggy. It's pretty sad when you can say that about a game that's two generations older than the latest one.

Actualy you were restricted in Gansty's Loot... You had to make your way up to higher levels, just like DOTD...

Except that in StD/Gnasty's Loot, once you made it to that higher level you were free to fly where ever you wanted and in the time challenges, there wasn't really a fixed ceiling anywhere. In DotD, no matter what you do, all levels have fixed ceilings in every area, which is annoying because you basically have to memorize where the invisible ceiling is and it can change abruptly, knocking you from a high position back to earth when you least expect it.

Z. I like 'em both the same, which ain't all that much anymore, so how about you people stop whining and comparing them!? You act as if there's some barrier between the two, in which no one can like both equally, you have to choose one or the other. Plus, this is, what, the 50th topic on this? And that's NOT an exaggeration >.>

Well, it is a forum...

It's more than acceptable to like both series equally. If that's how you feel, great! But not everyone feels that way. Some of the older fans hate seeing what the franchise has become, some of the newer fans just don't understand how anyone could enjoy the old games. Both sides are right and it really is silly to argue between the two. Threads like this, I imagine, are created as a place where old fans or people who liked LoS until DotD have a place to air their grievances, something they are not permitted to do in other threads. And that's okay, just like it's okay for people who do like DotD and all of LoS to make threads about their favorite parts. Those threads will always outnumber the negative ones.

I personally was a fan of LoS until one too many bad things happened within the fandom and the games failed to live up to my expectations. Having played the Insomniac games since they were just demo levels on Playstation Underground discs (among other things) has, naturally, colored the way I look at this franchise. None of the new games could ever compare to the old ones for me and I always knew this, so I didn't compare them. What ended my general liking of LoS was that, at least for me, it couldn't even live up to its own low expectations.

But that is entirely my own opinion and I don't expect anyone else to share it, nor will I force anyone who does not wish to to agree with me. I respect that many people love the LoS trilogy, even over the Insomniac ones. If I were them, I would feel the same. Though I can no longer like the different series equally, I can still respect those of you who do.

And if you're finding your taste for this whole franchise has gone, I recommend taking a break. It certainly helped me when I needed it and I've moved onto other things I enjoy far more.

Original Spyro by far.

I would have to agree with the people who liked them both equally. They both had the same elements that I hated and loved. I hated being stunned then pushed off a cliff by the enemies. I also hated missing the gems or special item and having to redo the level to find it. I loved both stories and the game play.

i like being able to go back in the old ones, its annoying in TNB and TEN where you can go to specific levels... they esolved this in DOTD

DOTD was crapp though i thing it didnt have the same feeling as TeN and AnB

i enjoyed dawn of the dragon, but the story n the game itself feel a little 2 serious.

I personally thought the story of the new ones were awesome, especially Dawn of the Dragon. Only because it was so awesomely epic

But the better versions are always the classics, so I'd have to go with the old series!

yeah. it is epic i guess. which made it a little more interesting. the thing with the serious story on DOTD is when u r still waiting 2 buy it. u get the message LOL.

I like both but prefer LOS beacuse of the figthing and differnet elements system...Oh and i like the art too because spyro looks more real

Old. Spyro did NOT need the Legend series. It caused annoying eight-year-olds go onto the internet, find THIS website and sign up for the forums and post topics about this whole "Spyro X [Insert_Female_Dragon_Here]". You have to be under the age of 12 to not see that almost ALL of these topics are pathetic.

No, the developers would have went back to the original style eventually. The Legend series did nothing to the series but make you wonder what happened to the series. Remember when Spyro was fun and adventurous and not in a linear path?

Yes, I do remember when Spyro was fun and enjoyable. Ever since ETD, the Spyro games got downhill, until they came to the conclusion to do a reboot of Spyro to start over in order for the franchise to continue. I think they made the right decision. I mean, they were planning on stop making Spyro games had they not gone with making the reboot of Spyro. Most of you would rather have that, than see our little purple dragon undergo changes in his universe and story.
