Because Poison, Fear, and Shadow are all evil-like things that aren't even exactly elements.
(Unless the term has been changed so people don't have to say 'breath' anymore. )

...And Wind sounds like something an unaltered dragon can control.

Cynder was saved by Spyro but somehow she was able to keep her dark powers.

Maybe she didn't have one, like a normal dragon. All she could do was BREATHE fire, like a dragon. Not use it like an element, but just breathe it.

I don't think she is a wind dragon. If she is, then why isn't she white? I used to think poison was her original element, but now I think it is shadow because Cynder and the element shadow are BOTH black.

There are lots of diffrent elements like eath fire electricity and ice
and cynders only normal element is wind and she only would have had wind if she hadnt been corrupted by the dark master so its not shadow poison or fear

I used to think Cynder's original element was Shadow but it changed when I realized that the breaths Shadow, Fear, and Poison are all evil-like and Cynder was never necessarily evil.

Also, sometimes, color of a dragons skin has nothing to do with it's element.

Shadow, Fear, Poison are believable elements, for crying out loud. She also used fire back in ANB. Wind is just blowing hot air.

I always thought Cynder was a wind dragon since she's blue-ish in DotD/storm cloud gray in TEN and parts of ANB, she seemed to have no problems flying in TEN, wind is the only one of her listed elements that is a) an element and b) not a result of corruption by darkness, wind was specifically mentioned as an element in TEN, and her egg was a storm-cloud gray. But that's just me. I can see where others have different thoughts on the matter.

I have and, while she makes some good points and I can see why she thinks them, I respectfully must say that I don't see things the same way as she does.

The only thing I think of as valid coming from the Wendy's toys is the statement about Spyro and Cynder's ages, since it is the closest to an official source on that information that we have. But when it comes to her powers and natural-born element, the games themselves suggest otherwise.

Of course, that's just the way I see things on this issue and I understand and can respect that not everyone else interpreted this stuff the same way.

Well, the only way to find out is to e-mail the company and asked them if Cynder's element is wind or shadow.... I would do it, but I don't know how to send an e-mail lol. xD

The toys listed Shadow Fire as her favorite element, not as her natural element.

It's wind, not shadow.
Shadow, Poison, and Fear are not elements, just darkness. Wind is her original breath type. Wind isn't a dark element. And how do you know if a Wind dragon is white? Just 'cause she's black doesn't mean or original breath is Shadow. It is wind for crying out loud.

Forget not that the games imply that black is not a normal color for a dragon, too. Cynder being black is likely a result of her exposure to dark forces all her life. And then she was blue in DotD (or purple, depending on the viewer; whatever she was, it wasn't black).
