Eli nods at Lone.
"I like it." He said.

Lone smiles.
"I'm sorry for attacking. I can't much control my wolf side."

Both boys shrug.
"It's okay." Jackor said. "No hard feelings."

Lone sighs.
"I wish I could control it, but it controls me. I am but a creation."

The boys again nod.
"When you say creation, do you mean like from a test tube or something?" He asked.

Lone cocks his head in thought.
"Yes, I mean, I remember living life in a column filled with a special liquid to keep me alive."

Eli and Jackor both raise their eyebrows at this.
"Really?" Eli asks.

Lone nods.
"I had no family except Aradia. She took care of me like a sister."

Eli just frowns at this.
"That sucks. At least she helped you." He said.

Lone smiles with scarily sharp fangs.
"You pushed me around a little, though." He laughs.

Aradia smiles.

Jackor and Eli laughed a little.
"I bet she did." Jackor said heartily, laughing a little.

Lone smiles. He then lifts his head towards the sky and growls.
"I smell fire."

Eli and Jackor both looked at Lone.
"Where from?" They asked.

Lone narrowed his eyes and looked at Latula.
"She knows."

Latula bites her lip. He meant Hakan.

Di and Jackor turned to look at Latula.
"Where is he?" Eli asked, any light of friendliness gone from his eyes.

Lone howls and takes off without another word.

"Let's follow him." Karkat says to Eli.

Latula disappears.

Eli and Jackor nod, racing after Lone.

Lone streaks through the woods in a more wolf than human form. His muscles ripple beneath him as he reaches a field filled with flames. Hakan lay crumpled on his side, a blade protruding from his shoulder. He had put up a fight against something fierce.

Eli and Jackor were on,y a few minutes behind him, showing up, surprised at what they saw.
"What happened?" Eli asked.

Lone howled loudly again, his eyes wide in fear and despair.
"The atmosphere. It's s-so dark and c-cold. Something lingers here. Something of despair." He trembles.

Eli grabbed his knife, his sword having been melted.
"Take my extra knife." Eli said, handing his back-up knife to Jackor.

There was a yowl and Lone yelped, cowering behind Aradia.

Eli looked at Lone.
"What's wrong?" He asked him.

"It's coming. What killed Hakan." Lone trembles.

Eli and Jackor look at Hakan.
"Well then." Eli said.

Terezi screams. A cloaked figure has a blade at her throat, the sharp blade digging in slightly.

Eli and Jackor look behind then to see the knife to her throat.
"Let her go." They say.

"I have no desire to." The low voice of the figure says. His voice is dark, sounding a bit like Darth Vador's.

Eli starts to slowly circle around the dark figure.
"Why not?" Jackor asked.

"I have my reasons that follow a mission. That you shall not interfere with." The figure says. Vines wrap around Jackor and Eli's ankles, forming tight bonds.

The two boys curse.
"I'll make sure you fail." Eli said, kneeling down and beginning to cut the vines.

"Oh? But I have already been succeeding." The figure says.

Lone lay bleeding on the ground. Aradia was clenching her shoulder where there was a deep gash. Karkat had disappeared, and Equius was knocked out.

Eli and Jackor cursed as they looked at their friends, and the missing-ness of Karkat.
"What do you want with all of us?" Jackor asked.

"I want nothing but the death of the little lab-rats, disgusting creatures. I have succeeded in killing one." He says.

Eli curses.
"And that'll be the last one." He says, slicing through the vines and charging at the figure.

The figure disappears and reappears behind Eli, driving the dagger into his shoulder.

Terezi crumples, coughing.

Eli gasps in pain as he feels the knife stab through his shoulder.
"Eli!" Jackor yelled, cutting the vines and running to him. "You'll pay." He said.

The figure laughs and steps away from Eli, appearing behind Lone.
"This one. He dies next. It's but easy to kill him. All I need is this," he says, yanking the necklace from Lone's neck. It snaps easily in his grip and he disappears after retrieving it. "Bye, puppy." He says as he fades.

Lone howls long and sad.

Jackor looks at Lone as he starts to howl.
"Lone..." He says, turning to face the bleeding Eli.

Aradia struggles to Eli.
"Are you okay?" She asks, clenching her shoulder.

"Karkat!" Terezi coughed.

Equius was dragging Karkat. The boy was gashed up all over and his eyes held no light.

Eli coughs up a little blood, and tries to sit up, but fails.
"Not really." He said, coughing again, more blood in it than the last time.

Jackor looked at Karkat.
"That bastard will pay." He said, clenching his fist.

She struggles to stand, lifting him. She bit her lip at the pain of the struggle, but determination helped her bring Eli to the group.

Equius laid Karkat back against a tree.
"He can't breath well at all." He says gruffly.

Eli cursed as he felt the pain course through his shoulder into the rest of his body.
"Damn, that hurts." He said, biting his lips to ease the pain as much as he could.

Jackor walked over to Karkat and looked at him.
"Was everyone but me injured?" He asked sarcastically.

Aradia smiled sympathetically at Eli and laid him back against a tree.

Karkat fixed his dull eyes on Jackor for a few seconds before they shifted to Lone, who lay deathly still.

Eli nodded his head in thanks at Aradia.
"Thank you." He said, dipping his head down, the snapping it back up.

Jackor looked at Lone.
"We'll avenge him." He said.

Aradia smiles.
"You're welcome."

Karkat's voice was soft.
"He's alive. But not for much longer. He needs his necklace to stay alive."

Eli smiles at her.
"Well, at least I'll have a story to tell when we get back." He joked.

Jackor looked at Lone.
"And we definitely aren't in shape to go after.....whoever that was." He said.

"We aren't weak. I'll still stand." Equius snarls.

"Me as well." Aradia says, gritting her teeth in pain as she clenched her shoulder.

Jackor looked at Equius.
"Well, the others aren't." He said, waving his arm past all the others. "And if anyone would go after them, it'd be me and you." He said.

Eli smiled a bit.
"At least someone is in as much pain as me." He joked, coughing up some more blood.

Aradia crumples beside Eli. She looks at him worriedly.
"You need help."

Equius nods.
"Then let's go."
