Miles pulled his dagger out, and threw it at a tree that looked to be about 20 feet away. The knife hit nowhere near where Miles aimed. "Guess I need t work on my aim." Miles whispered, walking over to pull the knife out of the tree.

Delgato rubbed his eyes and wiped away his tears before walking back to camp where the others were.
"Back." He said, his face red.

"That's good." Bryan said. He coughed again, but not much blood came out.

"Doing any better?" He asked Bryan.

"Not really bleeding much anymore, but it's getting hard to breathe." Bryan replied.

"Hang in there." Choked Delgato and he walked off.

"He's out of character. I'm worried." Whimpered Alyx.

"I'm kinda scared myself..." Bryan replied to Alyx.

"Of Delgato? Same here." Said Alyx.

Bryan managed a small laugh. "Yeah... He's really starting to scare me."

Alyx weakly smiled.
"He seems to be in a stupor or something. I wonder what we did to upset him so much. I mean he has never cried." She said worriedly.

"Everyone's cried at least once." Miles said, examining the mark where the knife hit the tree.

"That's Delgato's first. He was beaten as a kid, ya know? It's why he's usually so cold." said Alyx.

"Cold? He doesn't seem like that to me." Miles stated. "Anything I can do to help you guys?" Miles asked, walking back to the dead campfire with his kinfe.

"He is. You just have to see through his fake kindness. He has a dark, cold heart." said Alyx. "All thanks to his past."

"Then why does he help you? Anyone with a truly dark heart couldn't even fake kindness." Miles sat down upon the stump of a tree.

"I don't know. But he helps me and he fakes the kindness. He was a thief and liar." said Alyx.

"I will never thieve. I would rather die than do that. Crime is an awful thing." Miles scratched his gash.

Alyx nodded.
"I don't think he liked it, but he had a bad past that changed him. A lot." she said.

Miles was in deep thought. "It's time I leave this group." Miles said aloud.

Bryan stared at Miles in shock. "What? Why?"

Alyx's eyes opened wide.
"Why?!" she said in shock.

"Let him go. I don't care." Delgato muttered in his stupor.

Alyx did what she had never done. She punched Delgato. Hard.

Delgato whipped around and shoved Alyx.

Alyx collapsed to the ground.

"I can't carry on like this. It's the first day, and all of us have been horribly injured.If I'm gonna die, I'd rather be alone.' Miles explained.

Bryan stared in horror at the rest of the group. "Miles is leaving for a reason. Maybe I should go off on my own as well." He used a tree to support himself, and slowly stood up.

"I'm ticked at Delgato, but I can't leave him. We've been childhood friends. Friends are family. They stick together. It upsets me that we are friends, but it seems more like we're enemies. I guess I'll hope to see you two sometime later in life, but considering that we're like enemies, I don't think any us will see each other again." Alyx said. She got Delgato to stand, and the two started off, Delgato helping support Alyx.

Bryan grabbed the backpack he found by the tree earlier, and stumbled off, occasionally using a tree to support himself.

At one point, Delgato clenched his head and fell to the ground yelling. Alyx would soothe him and help him to stand again.

Bryan didn't make it far before he fell to the ground. He managed to make it to a tree, and climbed as high as he could manage. He was having serious difficulty breathing, and was almost hyperventilating by the time he stopped climbing. He settled on a think branch and opened the backpack, and pulled out the rope. "I learned my lesson." He said aloud as he tied the rope to his waste, strapping himself securely to the branch. "If only things were that easy. I should've known it was never going to work out. That's what I get for trusting people again." He used the backpack as a pillow, and fell asleep in the tree.

"Death will befall us all. Death!" Delgato yelled.

"Delgato. Delgato. I'm right here. Settle down." soothed Alyx.

Miles set off on his own. None of them could be trusted. They were liars, all of them. I'm glad I'm away from them. They were all stupid liars. Miles glared ahead. He paced forward, stopping occasionaly to examine his wound. Miles knew deep down he made a mistake leaving them. But he couldn't go back at this point. They were my only chance at survival... Oh well. If I'm gonna die, so be it.

Bryan didn't sleep well. He had a terrible nightmare. He was standing alone, in a dark room, and he could feel that someone was in there with him. "Hello? Who's there?" He called out, in a normal tone of voice, not his usual quietness. All of the sudden, a shape took form in front of him. It was a boy, a teenager, in one of the Peak Tribe's standard army uniform. Bryan recognized him immediately, and stumbled backwards. "Leave me alone! I want nothing to do with you!" Bryan ran through the darkness, trying to find an escape, when he felt cold hands clamp down around his neck. Bryan went to scream, but couldn't hear a thing, not himself, not anything. His silent panic was engulfed into the hazy blue light that covered the edge of his vision, and engulfed the dream, replacing the nightmare with the standard blackness of sleep, but leaving the pure terror of the scene clear in Bryan's mind.

Alyx had finally gotten Delgato asleep. She left for the mountains, hoping she would find Miles there. They had made a mistake splitting up.

Delgato shifted a lot in his sleep. There was blood everywhere, he could barely breath. He shot awake, and looked around. Alyx was nowhere to be found. He stood worriedly. He looked at a bruise on his arm.
"How the heck did I get this?" He wondered, not knowing Alyx had punched him in his stupor.

Miles walked further, heading straight to the outlands.

Alyx reached the mountains. She didn't see Miles, but when he had taken her here, the place had made her more relaxed. She sat down and stared out over the cliff.

BTW Bridget is a character of mine I am going to use when people possibly get near that area. Or I might just not use her at all. I haven't really decided yet.

Miles found a glistening horn in the grass during his travels. He decided to see if it still worked. It made a huge resounding noise. Blast! Every single person in this land could've heard that!

Alyx heard the sound of a horn. She struggled to keep he balance she she started falling off the edge of the cliff. She clenched the edge with one hand and yelled out really loud for help.

Bryan woke up with a jolt from hearing the sound, and would have fallen out of the tree, if it wasn't for the rope he had tied around his waist earlier. "Who would be such an idiot as to do that?" He said sleepily.

Alyx scrambled back over the edge of the cliff painfully and gasped with relief.

Miles heard a loud cry for help. It sounded about a half a mile away. Miles called back. "Hello?"

Alyx heard Miles' hello.
"Hello! Were you the one who blew that horn? I fell off the cliff. My leg made it painful to climb back up." She called back.

"Yeah, I blew the horn. Do you need help?" Miles called out again.

"No. I managed to climb back up but it was really painful because my leg is injured!" Alyx called back.

"Alright then. If you don't need anything, I'll be on my way." Miles shouted for the last time. He continued his walk.

"That was Miles no doubt. He's not far away either." said Alyx. She started down the mountain in the direction the Miles went.

Delgato sighed.
"She left me. That's fine. After all I've done to help her." he said. He stood up and started in the opposite direction that Alyx went.

Miles whistled a cheery tune, thinking of his childhood.

Alyx limped up behind Miles.
"Miles!" she called to him. She winced at the pain in her leg.

Miles turned to see Alyx. "Hey! What are you doing here?" He asked, looking at her leg.

"I heard you from the mountain. I hate that we split up. I want to travel with you, if that's okay." Alyx said.

Delgato walked through forest toward the desert. He was ticked right now.

Miles shrugged. "What ever floats your boat." He said, ruffling his hair.

Alyx smiled at Miles' humor and limped up to walk painfully beside him.
