Probably so they don't steal it.

To clarify, one of the portals which was wireless in SSA will now be wired in SG portal packs.

Wait, did they actually say that in the video? I thought you were referring to portals on display (I have to admit, I didn't watch the vid because of my **** internet).

It is logical to assume that the 3DS one will remain wireless for obvious reasons so that leaves either the Wii or PS3 one, based on "some".

I think that the PS3 is going to be wired. For me, I really can't think of any reason that the Wii portal needs to be wired.

Hopefully this doesn't mean the Wii U version has a wired Portal.

As long as our old ones still work wirelessly though it doesn't really matter...

Supposedly Activision listened to the vox populi about battery usage.

If they make everyone use the Game Pad as a Portal replacement I would be so sickened. Looots of wasted batteries.

You're right, it's not the same technology, but it'll still work. The way the Skylander's work is, the portal emits a signal, the Skylander's receive the signal, the signal is then returned back to the portal with all the figures information. You can do this with the Wii U gamepad to - it's not the same signal but that doesn't matter, as long as they can code the Wii U version of the game to use the gamepad in the way the portal worked it should be fine.

That said, they will probably still use the Portal and have the gamepad as the controller.

So console versions may have wires what makes me wonder is about the wii if it has the usb slot used or will they make it special to work with the gamecube connecter ports so then it can be only used on the wii (which I doubt for online interaction of universe)

I am happy to be wrong and it is moot to me as I will not buy the Wii U, but my understanding is that Wii U's NFC uses a different frequency to RFID so there is no way to make it work. Coding is one thing but a physical incompatibility would be insurmountable.

The Wii has two USB slots; not a crazy number but also not generally used given that the memory card is SD.

I was surprised to see Jet-Vac move that large stack of blocks in the first video (1:48). I would have guessed only a giant could do that.

Except the Skylanders figures aren't specifically designed around the frequency of the portal. As long as there is code in the software to use the portal/gamepad to recognise the data on the figure, it will work.

I'm going to guess this is right. The NFC even connects with credit cards apparently... And we all know they didn't base them around it

I don't think it's going to be on the wii u because that's not getting released til December
So unless they re-release the game next year it won't be on the wii u even though it would work

Credit cards which work with NFC are designed to do so; normal credit cards do not, not even chipped cards.

As I said before, I am happy to be wrong but all literature I have read on RFID describes how the circuitry "resonates" (not the correct term but it will do for my tired 12:39AM brain) when it receives a specific frequency band and NFC uses a similar concept but is not compatible. The analogy I read was AM radio versus FM.

That said, I do expect a Wii U version sooner or later. For example, a Wii U version of Arkham City will be released soon after (or coinciding) the Wii U does.

I'm sure it was a mistake that it was available on the site. I was able to preorder one and it shows up in my order history. But if I click on the item in the order, it shows an error page. If it was simply sold out already it wouldn't behave like that.

Crossing my fingers that AEGFS (Amazon Exclusive Gold FlameSlinger) is available for preorders again..

Oh! Each level has a 'do X in Y level' achievement/trophy. Something different. Also, this pretty much confirms 16 levels.

Edit: Also, wasn't the achievement/trophy for completing SSA called 'Savior of Skylands' too? Or was that just the accolade?

Hmm. Looks like each level has a treasure piece that adds to the ship. And I think we talked about it before and guessed right- the Fist of Arkus will be used (probably) to defeat Kaos.

Also, one of the difficulties is Nightmare. hah

Looks like there's also "Skystones" to obtain (and I guess at some point- use in a game), there's Heroic Challenges AND Arena Challenges. Different Feats of Strength (probably for Giants). Also appears to have different "mini quests" to do similar to the 3DS version of Adventure.

So, looks like 15 chapters with a probably 16th for Kaos Battle.

We've known about the difficulties for a while - if I remember correctly you have to complete the game to unlock Nightmare difficulty so more replay value . The Skystones, from previous videos, appears to be a mini-game. Like the card game in pirate seas, but I guess we'll hear more of it in the future. Again, we saw the arena challenges in a previous video. They're handed out by Brock on the Hubworld-ship - I'm gonna assume that they'll just unlock with progress rather than having a new challenge arena challenge for each Skylander since the requirement to complete all is an achievement/trophy.

They aren't closing down. They might because of sale drops. It was from this aol thing anyways so look there.
