"Because." Silvara stated, throwing a third branch.

((I'm going to make them easier to identify for the other characters.))

"T-thanks, I'll be glad to have the help." Alex said, before giving Ki a tight hug.

"Pussycat." Xander said, scoffing as he walked towards the rescue group, rolling his crimson eyes.

"Excuse me!?" Alex retorted, his azure eyes lighting up as his gaze snapped on Xander.

"If you both don't shut it, I will do it for you!" Shadow growled. He was getting a headache from everyone's arguments.

Varedis groaned, "Guys, can we stop bickering and get to work, we need to get a move-on!"

"Yesss, we don't have very long." Bimcal replied.

"For the last time, who's coming?" Varedis asked.

((Welcome back buddy))

Ki hugged Alex back "Its ok, don't listen to him" He said

Kihei started going back to the lab "Come on guys!" He yelled

Silvara threw a fourth branch.

Bimcal quickly caught the fourth branch with his tail, "Would you ssstop that?" He hissed in annoyance.

Silvara launched a volley of branches at Bimcal.

Bimcal scowled and with grace unmatched, dodged each of the branches.

Silvara smiled and by defying some law of physics or something like that threw a tree at Bimcal.

*Just waiting for something to happen so we throwing stuff*

(I think we are waiting for the group that is going back to the lab, to go back, of which Bimcal is being delayed at.)

Bimcal shot out poison at the trunk and went through the hole made.

((Yeah, both groups have been ready for a while (unless anyone else wants to join the rescue party), and the branch-throwing is just slowing them down.))

"So, if we're all done here..." Gabe said, dodging part of the tree that went right over his head. "...let's head into town. Just call if something goes wrong, and we can try to help out."

"Ok Gabe!" Kihei said as he continued to walk back to the lab

Ki picked up Alex "Come on buddy" He said as he followed Gabe

Bimcal flicked his tongue out, and slithered after the others.

((Anyone notice our titles are still here?))

Varedis walked with the group towards the lab.

"Eh? Why're you... Hey, I can walk on my own, okay?" Alex said, as he broke free from Ki's grip. "I mean, it's not ideal, but I can do fine without my brothers."

"Okay, what's the plan so far, guys?" Xander asked the three with him, as he pulled a lighter and a cigarette from the pockets of the coat he'd 'commandeered' from the lab.

"Go in, get your brother, get out" Kihei said

"Still, I want to make sure you're ok" Ki said

"Good, it looks like we have the same plan." Xander replied, before lighting one of the cigarettes. "I hope you guys don't mind, but I need to recharge a bit before we get there." he continued, before taking a puff from the cigarette. His irises seemed to light up, transitioning from a dark crimson to a brilliant orange in mere seconds, before he exhaled a jet of clean air.

"Listen, um..." Gabe said, pausing when he realized he didn't know which of the brothers he was talking to.

"Alex" the twin responded, crossing his arms. "Blue eyes, easiest way for others to remember."

"Um, right. Well, just realize we're all in the same boat... and we'll do whatever we can to help each other out."

*Um?*

Ura woke to darkness. Looking around, she saw a switch. She pulled it and a light came on. Ura was in a metal room with no door, only a glass section really high up on the wall.

Silvara went towards the town.

((So is Ura in the lab again?))

"That's good to know" Ki said

"That's good, but why do your eyes change like that?" Kihei asked Xander

"Yesss, do tell." Bimcal hissed curiously.

"Oh, right... not sure how long you guys have been in the lab, but we've been there for quite a while... longer 'an I can remember." Xander said, flipping the lighter closed and pocketing it, before taking another puff. "You stay there long enough, and the scientists get brave, and when the scientists get brave, the experiments get more severe, more... inhumane." Xander said, holding out his hand. Orange energies began to swirl around the inside of his hand, as the surface of his skin began to... to fade away, almost as if becoming smoke itself. "Typhokinesis... it's a hell of a power, but one they were prepared to deal with... at least, they thought they were."

"Woah... That's insane!" Kihei said "I got my powers when I changed into this form the first time"

"I guesssss I'm the ssssame, though I woke up like thisss, and with no memoriesss." Bimcal said.

*Ura is in the emergency lab built with extra security.*

Silvara heard a rustling and turned. She grabbed a branch and threw it at the bushes.

"I don't doubt that ye've been able to shift since before you were captured, though... it's rare that they capture a non-shifter." Xander said, trying to comfort Bimcal. "I doubt they've had the time to completely replace the ventilation system in the past day, so we can probably get in fairly easily."

Alex turned towards the rustling bush, holding his hands up defensively.

A strange winged girl with golden snakes for hair and a long tail jumped out of the bushes. She had blue scales instead of ordinary skin. "A gorgon!" Silvara cried. "Hide your eyes!"

Pilila closed her eyes, using the wind to feel around.

The gorgon looked around, and became an ordinary girl with messy, short brown hair. She wore a slightly torn black tracksuit. "Sorry, I thought you were scientists. The name's Lia, by the way."

Silvara smiled at the newcomer. "I'm Silvara, nice to meet you."

Pilila blinked, "Um, hi, Pilila is my name."

Lia waved, grinning enthusiastically. "Hi!"

Gabe started shifting his form to be slightly less human, willing a canine nose and batlike ears to appear on his otherwise human frame. He held his hand out, eyes still closed, as he introduced himself. "My name is Gabe, pleasure to meet you."

Alex covered his eyes as quickly as possible, still trying to avoid the Gorgon's gaze. "Name's Alex... I'm just curious, but is that turn-to-stone thing something you always do, or...?"

"Don't worry! Only when I'm not human." Lia smiled.

"Um... are you?" Alex said, keeping his hand over his eyes.

"I don't think she is." Gabe said, having gotten a pretty good idea of her current form through echolocation. Feeling brave, he opened his eyes, seeing her now human form. "Yep. You can open 'em."

Lia reached into the brown leather bag hung over her shoulder. She pulled out a pair of goggles with reddish lenses, putting them on after becoming a gorgon again. "These will stop me from turning you to stone."

Experimentally, Silvara looked at Lia's face. Nothing happened. "We're good!"

Pilila looked at her, "Yeah, that works."

Lia smiled. Digging through her bag, she pulled out a small container of worms. Opening it, she popped one into her mouth. "Want one?" she asked, holding out the small box.

Pilila blinked, "No thanks."

Lia smiled sheepishly. "I guess this comes with odd eating habits. No wonder I suddenly only wanted to eat bugs."

"No thanks." Alex said, his eyes finally open, as he looked curiously at the gorgon. "Still, your gorgon form looks pretty cool... but I've been pretty fond of Greek mythology myself anyways."

"Mythology." Pilila giggled, waving her tail as she did so.

"What?" Alex asked, not quite sure what was so funny about his comment. "I mean, there are plenty of things in those stories I haven't seen yet, like Hydras, Manticores, even Chimeras."

"Well, it's just that mythology isn't exactly much of a thing right now. And just because we haven't seen them yet doesn't mean we wont. After all, we have myths right here; griffins, gorgons, a friend of our that just left was a snake with feathered wings. In other words, nothing is a myth right now." Pilila replied.

"I'm Ki, nice to meet you Lia" Ki said

"Yeah... I hate to add another one to the list, but I'm kinda a chimera, myself." Gabe said, rubbing the back of his head. "Maybe all of those myths were just people trying to rationalize shifters' existence before they were actually well known."
