My guess would be that you aren't showing up in their list of friends in the game. I have had people show up in the game weeks after I saw them become friends in Activate, so I tend to not be in a hurry to spend the time going through the list figuring out who is in and who isn't. I also sometimes see the ! telling me there is something to look for with Kudos/Friends, then I go there and see nothing. No new invites, no new friends, no new gifts - and yes, I always scroll right to the bottom, just in case the sorting is wonky. My guess is that every time that happens, someone who is my activate friend but not showing in game has sent me a gift.

I know a while back you could check how many times your friends had sent you gifts compared to how many times you had sent them. I'd take off the deadbeat non-gifters but I don't know how to tell.

I've only been playing this for a few weeks but have been on it every day since. I check my phone throughout the day so gifting daily isn't a problem. I've gone on it so much I've been able to visit everyone's land for kudos each day since too with 40 friends currently on my list.
