Decibel sat, his tail flipping at the end from excitement. "The Hyperdrake, sounds fascinating!"

"Observe..." Nyght's muscles tensed as his pupils constricted to thin lines. Shadows surrounded his body, swirling as his power grew. There was a flash, and a new Nyght stood before Decibel. Glowing red eyes and a void black body that seemed to be composed of the shadows that rose from him like smoke.
"Hyperdrake." he spoke in a demonic variant of his natural voice.

Decibel stared, wide-eyed. Nothing to fear but fear itself... he recited in his mind. He always recited when he started to feel afraid. "H-h-how?"

The shadows dissipated, leaving normal Nyght in front of the child. "Fear is your element. Channel it, build it inside you like a fury. But do not release it! Instead bond with it, become it. Become fear."

"B-but Fear...it's a terrifying power, hard to contain, I-I-I..."

"I'll try."

"Put faith in yourself, Decibel. Fear is an almighty power. You can do it." Nyght bolstered.

"Okay..." he murmured.

He shut his eyes and concentrated. Decibel searched inside himself, finding the dim red powers within. He let his few fears from the past few days leak back into his head, out from their confinement in the depths of his mind. It fueled him, his element.

The ball of power grew, glowed brighter than usual. He'd only performed a fury once, long ago when he was only two years old. It had unleashed a new level of terror for him so he had never attempted it again.

A red, smoke-like substance roiled from his scales. His power was beginning to escape him, just like a standard fury.

"I c-can't...I can't do it..."

This is good.

"Don't be afraid, Decibel. Hold on to your power. Fear is your strength and ally. You can do it." Nyght assured him.

Decibel bit his lip, trying to hold it in. He had to. At this point, if he were to release his fury it would kill Nyght instantly. His scales darkened until they were a dark crimson color. Markings that had never been seen before, symbols, appeared all over his body, glowing bright red.

His wings spread as his membrane began to shift color. They faded to white, then shifted back to black. This pattern remained consistent.

Become fear... Nyghts words echoed in his mind.

He struggled with the power, fought to keep it down and under control. You are not my master...I am yours. he growled mentally. Decibels eyes changed completely blood red, his pupils constricted into simple lines.

"H-hyperdrake?" he asked, his voice sounding like two.

Nyght grinned with satisfaction. "Hyperdrake." He was astounded at Decibel's level of power. It easily rivaled his or Dae's own, and nearly matched Malefor's. "You've done it!"

"H-how do I stop?" Decibel said, trying to keep a hold on the power. It was beginning to get to him. "I'm scared..."

"If it won't stop, just fury. I'll be okay." Nyght tried to comfort him. "Just let me know when."

"But you'll get hurt!" Decibel's voice went a bit shrill.

Nyght burst back into his own Hyperdrake. "I can take it! Just let it go." he urged in his demonic voice.

Decibel gave a little nod and let go. Large waves of red energy burst away from him in a circular pattern, each one slightly smaller than the last until Decibel was back to normal and laying on the ground, panting.

Nyght was curled into a ball in the corner, stripped of his Hyperdrake and whimpering. He took the fury full force, and he knew this was the price to pay. At the moment, he was trying not to cry like a scared hatchling though.

Decibel lifted his head, feeling like it weighed tons. His eyes widened. "Oh my gosh, Nyght, I'm so sorry!"

The effects were slowly wearing off as Nyght uncurled. "I-its not y-your fault. I should've kn-known better."

"I didn't mean it Nyght...I couldn't help it..."

This is good.

"It's not your fault, Decibel." he smiled at him, the Fear subsiding. "You're extremely powerful. Maybe as powerful as-" A loud bang and sound of wrenching steel cut him off.

Dae was tearing his way into the room, screaming profanities as timid scientists tried to calm him. "NYGHTMARE!!!" He finally ripped off the door and dashed into the room. Dae slammed Nyght into the wall and pinned him there, fuming. "Why did you kill her?! WHY?!!"

Nyght noticed tear stains on Dae's white cheeks. "Malefor's orders."

Decibel jumped back in surprise, then stepped up and stared up at Dae. "He had to Dae! She was the one who blew everything up, Ivy and Nyght almost died!"

"Stay out of this!" he yelled at Decibel before turning back to Nyght. Dae hit him hard in the gut, making him grunt in pain. "You never listen to father unless he threatens you!" he hit him again. "You knew I loved her! You knew you could have turned the other cheek!" he hit Nyght a third time.

Nyght coughed up a little blood before gasping. "You were blinded. She used you to get information."

Dae hit him full strength, denting the wall. Nyght coughed up a lot of blood this time. "Decibel, help me..."

Decibel glared at Dae. He didn't want to get involved, but he didn't want Nyght to get hurt either. "It wasn't his FAULT!" he yelled, each word like a bullet.

At the end of his sentence he unleashed a blast of Fear straight at Dae, extra careful that it wouldn't hit Nyght at all. His eyes glowed a bit from his anger.

The Fear hit Dae dead-on, making him let Nyght go as he held his head, trying to resist.

Nyght seized his chance. He launched off the wall, putting all of his momentum into one paw and punching Dae in the face with the force of a freight train.

Dae flew back a few feet and landed hard, his nose and mouth bleeding. He was utterly still.

Decibel walked over to Dae slowly, Fear crackling at his feet. "Now Dae, please listen to Nyght. Luna led her own self-destruction. The only reason that Nyght went after her was because Ivy couldn't do it herself."

His expression softened a bit. "She could have easily killed you like anyone else. She was corrupt Dae..."

Dae's sapphire eyes turned to Decibel as they welled up with tears. "She told me she loved me. She got Nyght's data so I could finally be stronger than him..."

Nyght coughed up a little more blood. "Stronger than me...?

"Dae, I'm afraid she may have used you..." Decibel stopped short and looked to Nyght. "Besides, I thought you two were equal halves of a whole?"

Nyght approached the two slowly. "We are. Right?"

Dae shook his head. "The Umbris in your veins. You're nearly twice what I am."

Decibel raised his eyebrows, looking between the two brothers. Well...this won't end well... he thought nervously.

The fear was quickly dissipating from Dae. "And you killed her!"

"I had to! Would you disobey father?!" Nyght yelled back.

"Yes I would! The only reason you obey him is because he put that spell on you!" Dae sat up. "You kept flipping out when you found out he planned to kill you!"

"YELLING WON'T SOLVE ANYTHING." Decibel said, the Fear just begging to escape with his voice. He frowned at the two and sat right between them.

"Spell?" Nyght asked, forcing his calm.

"Father hates you. He never wanted you. You're only alive because you're strong enough to kill Spyro and Cynder. After that, we don't need you." Dae turned the other way. "And you know what? I've always hated you too."

Decibel glared at Dae, then turned to Nyght. "Don't listen to him, it's just the grief of loss talking. He's your twin, he couldn't hate you." he said softly.

Ivy twitched a bit in the infirmary. It felt a bit weird when her spine slid back into its proper alignment. A few cracking noises could be heard, but that was just the broken bones snapping back into place. She'd be healed and ready to go in at least ten minutes.

"No, Dec." Nyght corrected him, "He means it. And you know what, Dae? I hate you too. I hate both you and Malefor. Ivy and Decibel are the only ones I really care about."

Decibel couldn't help but smile a bit at this. He'd never have anyone other than Ivy care about him. Especially since he irritated most of the other dragons he talked to.

Dae scoffed at Nyght. "You don't care. You don't have compasson. And you can't love. You were born a soulless killing machine to be disposed of afterwards. Its all you'll ever be." And with that, Dae left the room without another word.

"Well then, isn't he just a bucket of sunshine." Decibel muttered. "I never knew that a light dragon could be so negative."

Nyght's eyes were downcast. He had just lost his only brother, the dragon he thought would always stick by him through thick and thin. But then he looked up at Decibel. The little dragon was willing to aid and protect him no matter what. Nyght put his paw on Decibel's shoulder before drawing him into a hug. "Thank you so much, Dec. It really means a lot to me."

Decibel smiled and hugged him back. "It wasn't much, I'll always help the best I can!"

A tear slid down Nyght's black cheek as he released him. "C'mon," he said, wiping it away, "lets go check on Ivy."

Ohhh, drama and suspense... Nice.

"Okay!" Decibel said. He trotted to the door and held it open for Nyght.

Nyght graciously walked through, rubbing Decibel's head as he passed. "I'll bet she's already healed up and waiting to be released." he said cheerfully.

The medic approached Ivy. "You have one more visitor, 3. Number 12b."

"Dae?" Ivy asked. "Sure, let him in!" She rose slowly, stretching a bit. She rolled her ankles once or twice, glad her back wasn't broken anymore.

Dae walked calmly into the room, supressing his malice as he saw Ivy. "Feeling better?"

Ivy nodded with a smile. "Much better actually. I'm all healed up and everything!"
