Chapter Eighteen: At Last my Brain Remembered the Rest!

Dentro shrugged. "You weren't gonna let me go otherwise. I ran out of ideas." He said.
"Really?" Venia glared at him, then blushed slightly, not from exhaustion. He was silent. They sat that way for a while, on the bank of the stream. The sun was going down.
"We certaintly got farther than you thought we would, didn't we?" Dentro asked, leaning back on his elbows, swinging around so that his head was in Venia's lap. She flicked him in the nose. He rubbed it. "Ow." He blinked up at her with his giant puppy dog eyes. "that hurt Ven." he whimpered.
"Serves you right." She grumbled, but then relented and sighed. "Okay, sorry. Uncalled for."
"thank you." He muttered, still not getting the message. Venia glared at him in silence.
"Um, think you could move now?" She asked. He blinked at her sleepily, again with the big puppy dog eyes, and she caved in imediately. "Oh never mind. Go to sleep already. I've got first watch." She grumbled, taking a sip from her water bottle, filled with stream water. He smiled and fell asleep imediately, twitching as he dreamed. Venia watched Dentro for a while, then gently stroked his hair back from his forehead. He's cute when he's asleep... she thought, then blinked suddenly, in shock. What the heck am I THINKING!? He's a Domestic DOG! I'm a Wild Tiger! What is wrong with-
Her thoughts were cut off by the sound of a twig snapping in the trees. She tensed up. "Dentro. Den. Hey, wake up." She poked him in the forehead. Nada. Our cold. "Yo! Wake the heck up!" She hissed, slapping him upside the head.
"Wah? Wha's dat?" He muttered, rolling over suddenly, then jerking up, slamming his head into Venia's chin.
"Ouch! You idiot! Shush!"
"Sorry sorry sorry! My fault!"
"Yes it is, now zip it!"
They snapped at each other in hush voices, then Venia motioned for Dentro to stay there and leaped into the trees, jumping silently from branch to branch, vanishing. Dentro stared after her. "She's pretty when she's stalking something." She muttered, having absolutely NO shameful thoughts whatsoever.

Chapter Nineteen: ......... Oh I Give The Heck Up With Titles. Sorry This Took So Long.

Viana circled around slightly, and came to- A road!? Noooo!! We couldv'e been on a road the whole time!?!?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! she wailed silently, mentally slamming her head into a tree. In reality she stood on a branch, frowning like Death itself had come and told her that she was going to die, and she was going to rip it apart for that. Then she whipped around as she heard a loud SNAP!, followed by a groan. She tensed... but nothing happened. "Hmph." She murmered, jumping silently twoards the sound. She landed in a tree right above where the sound should have been, but nothing was there...
There was another groan bellow her and she almost jumped out of her skin, looking down. A girl with black hair and pale skin was lying there, covered in cuts and bruises. She looked in bad shape, barely alive. Viana jumped down next to her, and found herself nose to claw tip with four metal blades.
"Oh my." Viana squeaked.
"Here to kill me?" Viana blinked in suprise. The girl was definitely still consious. Up close, she looked about 17 or 18, and definitely dangerous. Especially since the claws were attached to a metal glove on the girl's hand.
"Er... no?" Viana said, going cross eyed to keep track of the blades. ...Silver!?
"Feh." The girl gave a harsh laugh. "Lies. You came back to make sure I was dead, didn't you?" she then proceeded to cough up blood and pass out, blades shrinking back to a fingerless glove that went up to her elbow.
"................Well that's unexpected." Viana muttered, then picked the girl up carefully. She ran back towards Dentro and the stream. The claws appearing out of nowhere, the silver, the claws shrinking again into a glove- all pointed to one thing. The girl was another Melder. Viana's eyes narrowed. Why had she thought Viana was going to kill her? Finish her off? Heck no. Maybe hurt her in self defence, but not kill her. Pff. Even a single scratch more and she'd die anyway. I could just take a half step back and be fine. She thought, glancing at the girl's face. It looked familiar... "Meeh!" She muttered, shaking her head.

Dentro relaxed against a tree, just watching and waiting. If they'd been found, the best thing to do would be to be ready. And he was. His silver bow was out and ready, a silver arrow being twirled like a baton in his hand. If anything so much as twitched, Dentro could have an arrow aimed at it in half a second, and if it attacked, it would be dead in less than that. So he watched and waited...

Chapter Twenty

Venia landed on a branch above Dentro, perfectly silent. She was still carrying the girl, and STILL managed silence. Suddenly, Dentro whipped around, arrow loaded and aimed at her face. She stared at it. "Whoa! Sharp! Put that away!" she snapped, blinking. her heart was pounding and she was shocked. How'd he known she was there...?
"Oh! Ven! Sorry!" Dentro said, lowering the bow. The silver arrow vanished into his pocket, along with the bow. "I saw your shadow on the ground. Sun's still up enough for shadows to stand out you know." He smiled, then saw the girl. "Who's that?"
"No clue." Venia jumped down from the tree. "She's seriously injured, though." Dentro helped her lay the girl down under the tree, then sat back, watching her. Venia picked up the girl's hand. "Look."
Dentro stared at the silver guantlet the girl was wearing. "Whoa... Um, are those what I...?"
"Yup, solid silver. Set of silver martial artists claws. Seems familiar to me..." she muttered the last bit, letting the girl's hand drop. Dentro stared, unblinking.
"Hm...." He was silent.
Venia sat there to. "...Now what?"
"Can't let 'er die after you found her. That's not right." He muttered.
"No, it isn't..."
"...We can't take her to the city. That's a bad idea. I'll patch her up." Dentro said, and Venia nodded.
"Okay. I'll go find some herbs to stop infection and pain, you clean her up." She said. Dentro turned red and looked away. "What?"
"Er... I.... I can't... do.. that......" He mumbled, rubbing the bridge of his nose awkwardly.
Venia blinked. "Why not?"
"She's... a girl."
"Excuse me?" Her voice was biting.
"Ah! Not that she's a girl, but... she's a GIRL. I'm a GUY. I... can't clean her up! It..."
"...Oh! Snap! Sorry! I understand now, yeah, YOU go find the herbs." Venia muttered, also blushing a bit. She hadn't realized it at the time, but some of the cuts WERE in embarasing places for a girl... "Shoo! Get! Find poppy for the pain, and-"
"Yarrow? Yeah, I know. I'm not an idiot." He muttered, cutting her off. "Yarrow for stopping infections. Going." He was still red as he got up and dashed off. Venia sighed, sweat dropping.
"Touchy..." she muttered.
