Miles decided to start walking back to Bryan and Delgato. He descended the mountain.

Alyx stood and followed Miles. She reached and held Miles hand as they descended.

As Miles walked back to camp, he lied down, on the ground.

Alyx sighed and sat down beside Miles.

Bryan awkwardly stepped back. "Want a fire or something? It's getting late, and we should probably eat." He almost whispered, he was always quiet.

Delgato nodded.
"I can get the wood." he said.

"We also have matches. We should be careful though, fire can attract unwanted attention." Bryan said in a hushed tone.

"As for food, what do we have to eat? I didn't bring any rations." Miles informed the group.

Alyx nodded in agreement with Miles.

Delgato nodded.
"Yeah. We have to set up a small fire." he said, then he ran to fetch wood.

"I will have to check the bag." Bryan said, shuffling towards the large backpack.

Miles searched through the small knapsack he brought with him, seeing if he could scaveneg anything. Nope. Just his dagger.

Alyx looked up at the stars as Delgato returned in the blink of an eye with a stack of firewood.

Miles was amazed at how fast Delgato got the firewood. Miles tried to break the lack of conversation. "So, uh....." He began as his mind became a complete blank.

Alyx smiled at Miles' efforts.
"So where will we head to tomorrow?" she asks to help him out.

"If we make it through the night." Miles added in, laughing a bit.

"We have a few options." Bryan said in a quiet voice, barely audible. "Luckily, the food was sealed, so it's still good. We can have either chicken, fish, or deer, with either blueberries, or raspberries. Pretty good selection. But we will have to cook the meat."

Alyx smiled. Miles seemed to always make her laugh. She looked at him with her soft blue eyes.

"Hey, Bryan, why are you being so quiet? I know you were never one to be loud, but something about you seems a bit.... off." Miles asked, lightly punching Bryan on the shoulder to cheer him up.

"I don't know, I just kinda... It just kinda..." Bryan started to trail off.

"Kinda what?" asked Alyx.

"Tell us. You can trust us." Miles said, assuringly.

"I... I don't know." Bryan whispered. He tried to change the conversation. "So, what do you guys want to eat tonight?"

"Do you honsetly not know?" Miles inquired, refusing to give up on this discussion without an answer.

Alyx stared at Bryan.
"Trust is everything ya know." she said.

"Can we just drop it?" Bryan raised his voice a little, but not much.

Alyx slightly shook her head.

Bryan turned away, looking deeper into the bag. "We don't have all night, we need to eat something."

Delgato nodded.
"He's right. Drop it for now, Alyx. Bryan." he said.

Miles sighed. "Ok. I guess this can wait for another time." Miles said hesitantly.

Alyx nodded.
"Yeah." she said reluctantly.

Bryan pulled the matches out of the bag, desperate to change the conversation. "Who's going to start the fire?"

Miles volunteered. He took the matches from Bryan.

Delgato set up the wood for Miles.

Miles started striking the matches. A small spark leaped from the match to the wood, and created a little flame.

"I can't cook, and Delgato can't either. Trust me." said Alyx.

Delgato elbowed Alyx in the ribs with a laugh.

"I can cook. I cooked a lot when I was little." Bryan said.

"Thank goodness." said Alyx.

"Cooked a tiny bit." Miles said. "Wasn't much good at it."

Alyx smiled and laughed.
"Don't feel bad. I have never cooked." she said.

"Well, what do you guys want tonight? We have chicken, fish, or deer. I can show you guys how to cook it too, in case we ever get separated." Bryan offered.

"I'm not a picky eater. As long as there's food, I'm happy. And teaching us how to cook would be handy." Miles said, smiling.

"Same here, but I think I'd prefer fish." said Alyx.

Delgato nodded in agreement with Alyx.

Miles stood up and stretched. "You know, if we did get seperated, what do you think would happen? I'm sure somehow we'd meet up again, but it's a weird thought."

Alyx nodded.
"I wouldn't survive on my own. I've always had Delgato with me." she said.

"I've always been alone." Bryan said with a shrug. "Fish it is."

"I haven't had anyone by my side, and I'm not a great survivalist either." Miles shrugged.

"You have camo though. Must make it easier." said Alyx.

"Well, I'm cooking a fish now. Don't know about you." Bryan said quietly as he stood, a large carp in his hand, sealed in a temperature bag. "We should hold onto the bag, though. It could help us store food later." Bryan said quietly as he walked towards the fire.

Alyx nodded.

Delgato leaned back against a tree and drifted off.

Miles tossed some pebbles into the air. He walked off a bit, not planning to go far at all.
