^ It really depends on the time frame. If they get it early, they sell for extra, if they put them on when others are up for sale, or you can walk into a store and buy them, they sell for either the same, less, and a buck or two extra.

Its a an item link with no subject tags. This makes it so it will not come up on searches of the site. Companies place an item on a site without activating its tags as a time saver for when the item goes active but keep tags deactivated to keep the item secret.

Your next question is how someone would get the link in the first place and the best answer is quite obvious. MAGIC.

Ohio Walmarts had gotten them in, I called the Dover one and the Massilon, according to the employee, they received them but sold out within the two hours they received the orders. Take this with a grain of salt but maybe he is out in the East Coast

Walmart employees, for the most part, are ditzes. I wouldn't believe them for a second.

This statement is not true. I'm not saying you're lying about what you were told, but I can say without a doubt that no store has gotten these in yet.

More than likely they will all be exclusive. I would be really surprised if any of them are not.

Of Polar Whirlwind and Scarlet Ninjini, one could be Best Buy and one could be GameStop...

I have a doubt that Best Buy would be forking over the money for an exclusive. I think more likely scenario is Target and Gamestop. Best Buy is in some pretty bad financial times right now.

I'm sure they could get as many exclusives as they were willing to shell out money for.

Wal-Mart has had two already. They are going to have atleast three.

Scarlet Ninjini better NOT be exclusive to Walmart or Target. I can deal with TRU but hopefully it's GameStop or BestBuy (poor Best Buy hasn't gotten anything).

The Legendary line of variants are exclusive to TRU.

Best Buy is closing stores and not doing all that well, I don't see them getting any of the remaining variants. Originally I thought that Polar Whirlwind was a lock for a Target exclusive, but if they are getting Jade Flashwing...who knows.

I think some of you misunderstand how some of this works. Best Buy's current earnings have little to do with their ability to get exclusives. They're still getting exclusive DVD/Blu-Ray packs - so they could still easily score an exclusive Skylander deal.

Does it cost money? Sure. But, it costs money to make money. And, right now, Skylanders makes money.

Yes, I understand that. However getting a BLU-Ray/DVD exclusive is not the same as getting an exclusive skylander. I don't think when you are in as much trouble as they are in right now you would throw that kind of money around to get an exclusive.

Very true. Skylanders are a very small market despite all of us posting here in the forums, compared to the much broader group of people that can be sold an exclusive Blu-Ray. The money put into the DVDs is going to have a much better chance of being returned compared to some random single "accessory" to a video game.

Plus the margin on DVD's is much greater then the margin on Skylanders.

Best Buy isn't hurting as much as people think. They are simply taking big box stores, and turning them into what they call mobile stores, which are just smaller, but still in big buildings. They just don't display as much as they would normally.

While they're closing certain stores, they're opening others. Best Buy is doing just fine. You won't see them going the way of Circuit City. And, they did get the Best Buy exclusive Giants guide with double-sided posters. They're still gonna get exclusives.

I don't think they will close. I have a friend who up until a few months ago worked for them. They would do things such as not turn on lights or heat in certain parts of stores (Yes, they had people working in all parts) to save money. Now, I am all for saving money and what not but, if you are not hurting in a major way. Then I doubt they would go that far.


Anyways, my opinion, could Best Buy get an exclusive. Yep. Do I think they will? Nope.

Let me assure you, from what I've seen of Skylanders sales, a single figure could easily outsell some of the DVD/BluRay exclusives that BBY gets. They've sold more than 100 Million of these things. There's roughly 100 different figures out there, which averages out to a million each (That's *assuming* a 3-pack is counted as selling three figures, which it might not be). Some movies don't sell that in first-run DVD..

Also, the terms of most exclusive agreements like this aren't "Give us $10B for exclusive!" - quite often, the arrangement involves things like ad space,floor space, future orders, etc.

Think "We'll feature the Starter packs in one printed ad a month for three months, highlight it on the dot-com for the three month period and guarantee an order of X-units per store over the three months. Also, we'll have an endcap display in our top X stores in every major market."

Look at the GameStop ads and website from around the time they had the Battle Pack exclusive. Look at how much Toys R Us has thrown towards Skylanders advertising. To Activision, selling a million of a figure exclusivly through one retailer or through all major retailers makes little difference to them. But a major retailer giving them free advertising for the brand? *that* is what they like.

Sorry for getting us off track.. but back to discussion....

I understand that. However, you have to take into effect the amount that each item will cost to buy and then what the sell it at.

I am not sure of exact numbers but, for ease I will use even numbers that are easy for me to do in my head.

DVD Example....

DVD 1 cost 1.00 to buy... They sell for 15.99. They make 15.00 off of that one DVD.

Skylanders Example.....

Regular Figure cost 5.00 to buy and it sells for 9.99.

The point I am trying to make here is that you may sell more of the Skylanders but they cost more to make and sell for less. So you would have to sell more Skylanders to make as much of a profit as they do on DVDs.

Keep in mind that is why if you go into a store to buy a computer they try and sell you all of the other things that go with it. As with TV's, they don't make much if anything on the actual computers. It is virus and them coming into set up. Or on TV's it is the HDMI cords that they sell for 80 bucks that they paid 8 bucks for.

Either way in the end they may get an exclusive however, I just don't see it. Yes, they did get a Strategy guide exclusive. So did everyone else. Also I am pretty sure that the guide didn't come directly from Activision. For as many errors as it has, it is pretty sad if it did.

I'm just using history as my guide, Best Buy has only landed low tier exclusives. They had the Volcanic Vault for SSA and a strategy guide and that craptastic goodie bag for SG.

Then compare that to

Target: Whirldwind for SSA, and for SG (So far) Granite Crusher and the LC 3 pack.

TRU: SSA: Legendary 3 pack and L Trigger Happy, and a 30 day on Dragon's Peak and Darklight Crypt. SG: L 3 pack, L Bouncer, L Stealth Elf, and upcoming L LC Chill

Walmart: SSA: Drill Sergeant and Red DS SG: GID Starter Packs and Molten Hot Dog


So Best Buy doesn't have a history of landing the top tier Character Exclusives

Those number shown above have little reflection on my experienxce dealing with markups and profits re:Skylanders/DVD New Releases.. My dealings with them have been quite the opposite, with Skylanders having a much higher markup than new release movies. There's a reason TRU runs them on sale every two weeks...
