There has be goo from some enemies in the other games, particularly bugs. That is what this could be.

Goo or blood...I'm hoping for the latter.
To Zacoda1: True, but parents will also likely know Spyro from previous games, and won't pay too much attention to the rating.

Well, the Teen rating does range from a cartoon like fantasy game to the kill as many enemies as possible with some other content. Some teen rated games had content like Blood and Gore, sexual themes, strong language, and drugs or the combination of any of them. but some teen rated games were generaly mild. so I would be looking at this game very carefully for any strong showing content if you are younger than 13. okay?

The Eragon game was 'M'. It had barely anything that could be considered inappropriate (and the graphics were so poor that if it did nobody would notice anyway ).
If it's 'T', from what Chris Wilson said, it will be fairly mild.
We don't even KNOW the rating and people are getting worked up. Jeez.

It's even on their freaking official website. E-E10+. Probably E on the handheld stuff and E10+ on the consoles.

Like I said, owned. Sorreh if this seems like a sudden reaction, but they way people have been practically looking for pixels in so-and-so place to find a reason for it to be rated T was irritating. Though in a sorta funny way. xP

Where on the official website? From what I can see it is still rated RP (Rating Pending) and says something about "May contain content(?) inappropriate for children".

Find a T rated game and see if it says 'May contain content inappropriate for children'. I cant do that cus I don't have ESRB in our country (We've got PEGI)

To DarkSpyro1 and MorningStar: That's not the official rating. ERSB (or whatever) hasn't given Sierra the rating yet. (Trust me, I asked that on the Q&A). And it would've said the rating on the boxart.

Still, there were many teen rated games that aim at the younger generation. Like the games that have just crude humor but doesn't have all that much violent content. Or games like Naruto the ninja, dragon ball-Z and smash-bros. You might want to put that into consideration.

I WANT TO PLAY IT!!!!!! I'm only 9 and i'll be 10 when the film comes out. the company that is making DOTD made athur and the invisables so there hope yet. I REALLLY WANT TO PLAY THAT GAME

EDIT: It would seem they have only updated the splash page so far. They probably just haven't gotten around to changing the rating image on all those other websites for each language.

The rating on Spyro's Lair says E for TEN, and the DotD website says RP for its own game.

yeah, well I think that the game makers will try to keep it at E+10 because tweens are probably their biggest consumers.

Definitely. The new games are quite a bit more intense then the originals where one flame or charge took care of most of the baddies.

what HAPPENED to the old wholesome Spyro games we all used to love?? The games where it was rated E and kids of all ages could play and experience the awesomeness of Spyro!!! Its junk made by retarded companies that keep getting switched around and changing so much of it. They made the Spyro that goes into different and exciting levels to help the helpless citizens of Avalar and all to just walking around a really long, endless level kicking butt!!! Seriously!!! I bet Insomniac didn't expect Spyro to be turned into this crap! This is NOT the Spyro I've known since I was a little 3 year old!!!!

And Spyro NEVER had any blood!!! Thats what I LOVED about it!!! No matter how much you beat up a bad guy; or anyone for that matter, there was never any blood!!! Its so WRONG!!!!
My #1 wish right now...... if I could have anything in the world right now... I would wish that Insomniac would get Spyro back and start making awesome games again... and never selling/giving Spyro to any other company. That would be heaven.

How do you know that this game is going to be very Dark and violent? Last I checked we dont even have game footage yet. How can you even say that this could be 99% chance of T rating? I am not against T rating but I would rather not have it.

I do apologize if I am coming out harsh in any way and I am just trying to prove a point and I can get pretty cranky when I have a bad migrane.

OMG! I can take the mild blood and gore, and the violence, and the suggestive themes, and the mischeif, and the mild language, but......um.

I don't think my parents would like me playing a spyro game with mild language. I mean, I don't mind it, but, ..........aren't spyro games supposed to be fun for everyone? What if a little kid could beat it, and they would hear all that language.........I dont know..... if that would be a good game feature for younger spyroxcynder lovers.........wwjd?

Spyro wouldn't be the same with language. I don't feel very comfortable with this whole "mild language" thing, even though I am 13. I can take the language in reality, but, in spyro? This...th...this just isnt right!

i read some were that this game is gonna be really intense but staying everyone level

but who knows the voilence could be so intense that i would cause a teen rating to pop up there without the showing blood or language i definetly this is not gonna have language i mean they wouldnt do that out of nowhere with so many kids playing this plus not to mention this would anger parents who fans as well as there children are
but since you mentioned blood.......well there is a chance of some blood coming up somewhere i mean really what do you think that pops out of the bugs in TEN when they die.........isnt that blood?

Well Dragon King, ESRB and other companies look for every single content that is in a videogame. There could be visible blood or real violence. But to get you strait I did see some possible blood on the floor next to that tourchered figure on the wall.

According to ESRB:
Animated Blood - Discolored and/or unrealistic depictions of blood
Blood - Depictions of blood
Blood and Gore - Depictions of blood or the mutilation of body parts

I don't think they would use realistic blood in a Spyro game, so if this game has blood I think it's probably animated blood.

Ah thank you. From looking at de pictures and from what RenanSpyro said that looks more like Animated blood than just Blood. But they are not finished with de shading and stuff.

Do remember what happened in Ecco the dolphin, it all looked okay in the beginning. Eccept when you go later into the game, you start seeing content and many creepy things. I bet near the end of the LoS DotD you will start to see lots of stuff that nither you or your parents will want to see. Eccept the beggining of the game already has stronger content than an E rated game could contain. well there was shadow the hedgehog, yet much of the beginning seemed rather violent. And I do believe that this game starts out very violent. And remember this, the spyro series keeps progressing on getting darker. This means that you should probabilly start getting worried about this spyro game being too dark for you. this is another reason why this game may get the Teen rating. Oh, if Ecco had been violent, it would definetly have been Teen rated.
