Varedis paused in shock as Gabe appeared, "Well, hello..." he said awkwardly.

Bimcal looked at Gabe with intrigue, "Well you sssure are unusssal."

Pilila had spread her wings before she saw Gabe, "Uh, hi."

"Um... you guys wouldn't happen to be escaped shifters... would you?" Gabe said, rubbing the back of his mane. Gods, I hope they're on my side... he thought, 'cause I don't think I could get away if they gank me...

The light in the woods intensified so that Silvara had to seal her eyes shut.

The vines receded and out came a weird mixture of unicorn and dragon, with an equine body and a horn, but dragon wings and teeth. A spiked collar was around her neck. "Greetings. I am Fauna, and old associate of Ura here." She smiled, showing her pointed teeth.

"Wow, I have never seen someone like you before, nor have I seen a creature like you." Pilila looked at Fauna and the Gabe.

"Wow in a 'that's so cool' way, or a 'wow, I've never seen something so freakish' way?" Gabe said, reaching into the sling bag on his side. He pulled out what seemed to be one of many bottles of distilled water he'd stored in it, probably stolen from the lab in his escape. "Because I'm a lot more used to the latter."

Ura smiled. "Hello again."

"Umm, both." Pilila said rather sheepishly.

"Eh, fair enough, and it's good to meet all of you." Gabe said, shrugging, as he opened the bottle of water. "So... I can only assume you guys are in the same boat as me?"

"I would believe sssso, I am Bimcal, by the way."

"I'm Pilila, a green griffiness." Pilila dipped her beak.

"Yeah, I'm Ki, nice to meet you" Ki said not knowing he had and arm around Ura

"I'm Kihei! But... Shouldn't we be going to whoever screamed?" Kihei asked

"Oh, right!" Gabe said, looking around, his batlike ears twitching. "I think I heard it from... that-away!" he said, pointing towards the direction the scream came from.

"Then lets go" Kihei said

(Oh, I didn't know, guessed for here.)

"Sure, go ahead, drop your world-saving plans for a single scream," Winterra growled. "Maybe we need a better leader."

"Wait, world-saving plans?" Gabe asked, confusion in his voice. "I thought our current objective was saving our own skins... what's really going on?"

"Wait, who said me or Ki was the leader?" Kihei asked

"We escaped a laboratory and we're trying to survive" Ki said

"Yeah, I thought we were trying to do that..." Gabe said, fishing through his bag, pulling out a few smartphones in plastic biohazard bags, before finding his own. "Snagged a few of these on my way out. Doesn't look like they got past the lockscreen, too. If we're lucky, there'll at least be some reception, and if there's reception, there's a chance to find civilization."

"Find civilization? I think we were trying to hide from it." Pilila gestured in the direction of the labs.

"I wonder if maybe finding civilisation may be a good thing, become official, become accepted. Or am I hoping too high?" asked Varedis

"At the very worst, we could try to get new identities, and live in society secretly..." Gabe said, stroking his fur through his mane's beard fur. "But that didn't really work out the last time for me... if we need to live in the wilds, though, I do have some fresh water and rations, but not enough to sustain us for a long time..."

"Well, I don't know if any of you are herbies, but I can catch, kill and prepare meet quite well, and in a place like this there is bound to be lots of preyy"

"I used to go on occasional hunts, myself, so I'd be happy to help you..." Gabe said, giving a soft flap with his feathered but batlike wings. "It helped vent the stressful bits of running the pizzeria..." he said, his ears drooping, "...which I probably can't go back to... It'll be fine, though, there's a genius of a kid running it now."

"I look forward to it, but we should probably try and locate all the others first," replied Varedis.

Extra: Has an extreme case of dissociative identity disorder. When in his bestial form, his right head goes by Alex, and his left head goes by Xander. The two can split off into two smaller, individual bodies, akin to anthropomorphic dobermans.

"Now that we have all introduced ourselves, we should figure out what that light is," Shadow said gesturing his tail to the faint light amongst the shrubs.
"Perhaps it's where the scream came from."

"Yesss, let'sss go." Bimcal hissed agreeingly.

Silvara was pulsing with strange energy.

Ura looked outside to admire the view, but then spotted the light engulfing the woods. "Guys, you should probably come see this!"

"Huh? Oh, right!" Gabe said, slipping his phone into the pocket of the labcoat he tied around his waist. He followed the others towards the source of the light.

Ki walked over to Ura "What is it?" He asked

"That light... it could be fire." Ura's tone was urgent.

"Whoever it was that screamed better be alright." Pilila said.

Gabe sniffed at the air with his wet, lupine nose. "I'm getting faint traces of smoke, but not much for a big fire... " he said, continuing to approach.

"We should check it out" Kihei said

"I'll wait here," Fauna said nervously. "Fire's not good for plants." She retreated back into the cave, her hooves making as much sound as a leaf blowing in the wind.

Ura's amulet glowed a soft green. Her eyes then became the same color as she switched to dragon form. Only she had become a dark forest green instead of her normal silver.

Bimcal blinked, "Isss that normal?"

Ura looked to him. "No, it isn't." her voice echoed strangely. It was soothing in a way.

Ki smiled "Ura... You're voice... Its beautiful" He said before starting to walk towards the light

"Hey, I've got a question..." Gabe said, following behind Ki. "There's something that, well... seems familiar about you... have we met?"

Varedis debated going into dragon form but decided against it and instead faded into the backdrop, only just visible from where the light caught him.

"Maybe... But I'm not too sure" Ki said

"Just a feeling I got." Gabe said, continuing to head towards the light.

Shadow, still in Dragon form, stopped just before the light and saw a figure of someone in its centre.
"What in the name of..." He stammered. He had no idea of what to do.

Varedis stood behind a tree just outside the light, he noticed a figure in the centre, "Hmm, who could that be? The screamer?" he asked himself.

"Oh dear." Pilila said as she looked at the figure and the light.

"Ssshould we help who it is?" Bimcal asked.

Varedis nodded, "Proceed carefully, they might be dangerous.
