Basically what happens in that comic is that Lara find out it was her cousin attempting to murder her for one of her scales. She and her friend continue to flee until Lara just gets pissed off (probably PMS, lol) and goes right in an attacks her cousin. After an "epic" battle, most Lara's soul gets destroyed and her cousin gets killed. To save Lara, they have to take the soul from someone else and place it in with Lara's. And so, they take the cousin's! Lara's scales change color, but the magic scale is still held tightly against the apple of her left cheek (right in the middle of that marking around her eye).
