Why the bad guys released Spyro, Cynder and Sparx? Why not Hunter?

They released them so they could be sacrificed to the golum (Apparently), and thoes green things were probably the thing that keeps Spyro and Cynder together.

The release date for DotD is still being decided in Sierra, so we don't know when it will come out until they give out the official announcement.
