Scott helped Lila to the alcove and helped her lie down. Lila fell asleep, but Scott went out and sat beside Delgato. "I'm sorry I dragged you guys into this," he said after a while. "I never meant to hurt anyone."

"You're fine. Look. Alyx escaped any injury with her agility, and my scrapes are like nothing." Growled Delgato.

"I know." Scott replied. "But still, it's my problem, and I shouldn't have dragged you guys into it."

Alyx padded up to Scott.
"You didn't drag anyone into it. Delgato followed you. He's the one that dragged us into it." she said with a smile.

Scott smiled also. "We should get some sleep," he said. "Who knows what'll happen tomorrow."

Alyx nodded and smiled.

"I'll keep watch. I'm not tired anyway." growled Delgato.

Growl decided to go hunting. She trotted along, tasting the air for scents.

Delgato sighed as he sat.

Alyx snoozed away.

Scott headed back into the alcove and laid near Lila. "Can't sleep?" Lila asked. "No," Scott replied. "But I will soon, because I'm exhausted." "How's your leg? It looked pretty messed up." Lila smiled and replied, "It still hurts, but it'll get better." "Now get some sleep, you look tired."

Delgato kept a close watch on everything. He jumped and growled a "Who's there?" at every noise and kept on the alert at all times.

Alyx awoke and took the next watch shift, protesting that Delgato needed some sleep.

Scott and Lila still slept, but Scott kept waking up to check on the others. Finally, he could not stand it anymore and got up to hunt. He walked outside and whispered to Alyx, "I'm going out, but I'll be back soon."

Alyx nodded to Scott.
"I'll come with." she said.

"No, you can stay, you're needed on watch." Scott said. "I'll be back very soon, I promise."

Alyx was unsure, but she nodded.
"Alright. But I'm sending Delgato after you if you don't come back." she said.

"All right." Scott replied. "I'll be back." He took off running.

Alyx watched Scott run off.

Delgato kicked in his sleep as he was running.

Scott followed the scent of a black horned buffalo. He knew they were close by, so he was very quiet. When he spotted the herd, he looked around until he found an old and weak one. He waited for a moment, then ran toward it. The herd saw Scott coming and fled. The old one could not catch up, and Scott took it down easily. He killed it with a swift blow to the neck and began dragging it back towards the alcove.

Alyx noticed Scott and ran to help him.

Scott found it easier to drag the buffalo with Alyx's help. "Thanks." He said to Alyx once they got into the alcove. He nudged Lila to wake her up. "Lila," he said. "We brought food."

Delgato lifted his head at the scent of food.
"Buffalo?" he growled.

Alyx nodded.
"Come eat with us." she said.

Delgato shook his head.
"I'm not hungry." he growled, turning over with a quiet moan of pain.

Alyx worriedly padded to his side.
"Delgato, what's wrong with you?" she asked anxiously

Lila stumbled over to the meat and began eating. Scott went over to Delgato. "What's wrong?" He asked. "There's plenty of food for everyone."

Delgato moaned quietly again.

Alyx noticed a small pool of blood. She nudged Delgato over to reveal a long huge gash across his stomach.
"Delgato!" she yelped.

"Alyx, do you have any of the supplies that you used to fix Lila's leg?" Scott asked.

Alyx nodded. She ran off and returned with the leftover herbs and supplies.
"Here." she said quickly.

Scott grabbed the herbs and chewed them into a paste. He spit it back out and rubbed it on Delgato's wound. He then used cobwebs to hold the paste in place. "Don't move around too much." He told Delgato. "If you do, the cobwebs will fall off."

"Don't worry. I'm too weak to move. And too pained." moaned Delgato.

"Delgato you idiot. Don't hide such horrible wounds. I need to take care of them." said Alyx.

"I always hide these wounds." moaned Delgato.

"How did we not notice that when we were on our way back here?" Lila asked from the other side of the alcove. Scott gestured toward all the fresh blood on the floor. "Something tells me he opened it when he laid down, so he must have scraped it against something." Then he said, "Ladies and gentlemen, I present the master wound disguiser, Delgato!"

Alyx shook her head.
"This is nothing to goof around about!" she woofed in frustration.

Delgato painfully smiled.
"A dog in the pack chasing Scott injured me pretty bad. I worsened the wound."

"I'm sorry, I apologize." Scott said. "I sometimes just feel a need to add randomness to our everyday lives." Lila limped over and said, "You guys should eat, I can watch over Delgato."

Alyx nodded.
"I understand. If you could watch him Lila I would be grateful." she said.

"Alright." Scott said, walking over to eat his share of the buffalo. Lila walked back over to the buffalo, tore off a meaty bone, and gave it to Delgato. "You should eat." She said, laying the bone in front of him.

Alyx followed Scott.

"I told you guys already. I'm not hungry." moaned Delgato.

Matilda scented the air. She could scent the heavy smell of fresh buffalo meat, but dogs around it. She continued to pad on, searching for food.

Lila laid down near Delgato. "Well," she said. "I'm going to leave it right here in case you want it later."

Delgato nodded painfully.

Alyx finished eating and laid down beside Delgato, laying her head on his neck.

Matilda chased down a buffalo calf and killed it.

Scott also finished eating and laid beside Lila. Lila laid her head on her paws and fell asleep. Scott smiled and watched the entrance to make sure no one came in and stole their food.

Matilda ate as much as she could of the buffalo, then she cleverly hid the rest. She set out to find nearby water.

Delgato was gently snoring.

Alyx yawned and snapped awake.
"Here. I'll watch." she said, standing and padding over to Scott.

Twilight's stomach growled. The sun was rising, so lots of prey would be up and about.

Scott nodded and lay down to sleep. Lila was still asleep, breathing softly.

Alyx sat, keeping watch.

Matilda padded softly to a small oasis and took a few drinks before heading back to her kill.

Alyx scented dog and began to follow it. She spotted a white wolf with blue eyes padding toward them. Planning to chase the wolf away, she silently ran toward Matilda.

Matilda whipped around at the last second and snapped her jaws ferociously, catching Alyx's leg.

Alyx cried out.

Delgato snapped awake at the sound of the cry and struggled to his feet.

Scott woke up with a start when he heard Alyx's cry. Lila woke up also, only to see both Delgato and Scott standing up, alarmed. Lila also struggled to get on her feet and stood in front of Delgato. "You need to stay here," she said. "Scott can find Alyx." Scott nodded and turned to Delgato. "If you open your wound again and make it worse, chances are, Alyx won't be pleased about it."

Delgato shook his head.
"I'm her brother. If she dies, I won't forgive myself. I must protect her." he growled and he took off.

Matilda pinned down Alyx.

"Lila, stay here." Scott said. "Well," he said to Delgato as he left the alcove. "In that case, I'm coming with you."

Delgato nodded.
"Alright."

Alyx tumbled with Matilda, the more muscular wolf having a better advantage.

Lila went over to where Scott had been laying to wait until they came back. Scott asked Delgato, "Do you know where she went?"

"No. I was sleeping. But I can scent her. Follow me." Delgato growled and he hared off.

"Wait for me!" Scott called.

Delgato and Scott reached Matilda and Alyx. Alyx was knocked out. Matilda whipped around and snarled.
"You getting in my way too?" she snarled.

"Woah, woah, just calm down." Scott said. "We're just here for her." He gestured to Alyx.

Matilda was immediately calm. Her shy side taking over.
"She attacked me so it was only natural for me to defend." she said softly. "Who are you?"
