RotI ch. 36 pt. 1

There’s always a first

Zoidius threw Phoenus off of him and quickly stood up. “Phoenus, what are you doing?!” he asked.
“You are letting the slaves go, I cannot allow that!” he replied.
“Phoenus, please, my mate is pregnant!” Zoidius begged.
“All the more reason to keep her here.”
Zoidius growled and said “I will not let you keep them here!”
“Then that only means one thing. For your betrayal your punishment shall be death!”
The rest of the prisoners gasped. “And what makes you think I will allow that to happen?” Zoidius asked.
“Oh, I know you won’t accept it, but I will force it upon you!”
Some of the male prisoners stepped up to Zoidius’ side, but Zoidius said “no, you are not strong enough to take him on. Run!”
The women and children immediately ran off, the men being hesitant but eventually left from Zoidius’ glare. All that remained was Relic. “Zoidius, please don’t fight him!” she begged.
“I’m sorry my love, but I have to in order to keep you and our child safe. Go, I will catch up once I am done.” He calmly told her.
Tears ere forming in her eyes but she nodded and gave him one last kiss before saying “be careful” and running after the others.
Once she was gone he looked back at Phoenus, only to find him not there. “What?! Where’d he…”
Again Phoenus jumped down from above and pinned down Zoidius’ head. “Fool, you should have brought them back, you might have had a chance to live.” He said.
Zoidius growled as he tried to break free but Phoenus’ grasp was too strong. “It’s better than letting them suffer!”
Phoenus chuckled as he said “they will suffer even more. Once I am done with you I will hunt down every single one of them, starting with your precious mate.”
The black dragon went wide eyed at hearing this. “You… will not… touch her!” he shouted as he stood up and threw Phoenus off and pinned him onto a tree.
Phoenus chuckled and said “very good, I can see the anger building up inside of you. Why don’t you use that anger against me?”
Zoidius raised up a claw to strike at Phoenus but slowly put it down. “I… I can’t kill you.” He said.
“Just as I thought, you are weak! But I…” Phoenus said before kicking Zoidius off of him. “…will be strong!”
Zoidius stood back up and faced his adversary. “I can’t kill you, but I can defeat you!” he said before lunging at Phoenus’ neck.
Phoenus dissolved into the shadows, avoiding the hit and reappeared behind Zoidius, creating a boulder around him and smashing into his back. Unknown to Phoenus though was that Zoidius had planned for that to happen. Once Phoenus was on top he wrapped his tail around his leg and smashed him into the nearest tree. Without wasting any time he unleashed his black flame onto Phoenus. With only a second to react Phoenus hid behind his wing for protection. Zoidius continued shooting his fire at Zoidius until he figured he had completely cooked the kid. Once he stopped though he saw Phoenus slowly stand up laughing, his eyes redder than ever. “That was alright, but let me show you a real blast!” he shouted before releasing an ear splitting screech, causing Zoidius to clutch his head in pain.
Back at the castle Demetrius was awakened by a loud noise outside of his window. He looked out and saw red shockwaves shooting out of the forest. “What could that possibly be?” he asked himself.
He opened the window and heard the screech even clearer. He flew out and met up with Leonidus, whom was also flying towards the source. “What could it be master?” he asked.
“I’ve heard this screech once before. It sounded exactly like Cynder’s fear attack.” He answered.
Before either of them could say anything else it stopped. “I have a bad feeling about this.” Leonidus said as they both flew towards the spot.
Phoenus shut his mouth after several seconds and watched as Zoidius fell to the ground, completely paralyzed. He walked up to him and lowered down so he was eye to eye with him. “You know, if you had stayed I wouldn’t have done this. But now that you have betrayed both of our masters I guess the only punishment you deserve is death.” He said as he brought his tail blade up to Zoidius’ neck.
Seeing the approaching death Zoidius made many attempts to move out of the way but came to no avail. With the blade inches from his neck he focused on trying to move his mouth. “D… don’t…. let it…. control you.” He managed to say.
Phoenus chuckled and said “it has no control over me. I am in complete control over the darkness. Whereas you…” In an instant he cut along Zoidius’ neck. “… Betrayed it.” he finished.
Being able to do nothing Zoidius just watched as his blood spread across the grass, each second feeling weaker. In a couple of minutes Zoidius could feel death approaching. With his final breath he whispered “…Relic…”
Phoenus looked down at the lifeless body of Zoidius and couldn’t help but feel satisfied with his kill. He heard someone land behind him and saw that it was Demetrius and Leonidus. “Phoenus! What happened here?” Demetrius asked.
“Zoidius was escaping with the slaves. I caught up to him and he challenged me.” He told them. He looked back at Zoidius and said “and he lost.”
“What… have you done to my apprentice?!” Leonidus asked as he slowly walked towards his lifeless apprentice.
“He was running away, betraying you. I had no choice but to kill him.” Phoenus answered.
Leonidus collapsed next to Zoidius, trying to hold back his tears. “Is this true?” Demetrius asked.
“Yes master. I saw the prisoners with him, but he told them to run while he fought me.”
Leonidus examined the body in disbelief. “All of these years, wasted!” he growled.
“One of the prisoners was pregnant with his child though.” Phoenus added.
Demetrius and Leonidus went wide eyed in shock. “Really? Well, there’s still hope then. If we can get that child then we can teach him the ways of darkness! Which way did she go?” Demetrius asked.
Phoenus pointed deeper into the forest. “That way.” He said.
“Alright, we’re going after her, but we need her alive.” Demetrius said as he took off running, his apprentice right behind him.
Leonidus got up and turned to the direction they had just gone and with one last look at his dead apprentice ran after them as well.

RotI ch. 36 pt. 2

The feast in Pyry had gone until the early hours of the morning. All that remained now was the Queen, Glacia and Murghus. “Now, tell me more about what the earth kingdom is up to.” Krystal said to Glacia.
She told the Queen everything they knew about the earth kingdoms plan. “We expect that they will be sending someone to convince you to join their cause.” Glacia finished.
Krystal was shocked at the information but knew what she had to do. “Pyry has always been loyal to Warfang, so it shall stay loyal. You have my word that we will join your armies if you need it.” she said.
Glacia was overjoyed to hear this. “Thank you my Queen. The other guardians will be overjoyed to hear this!” she said with a bow.
She nodded then looked at Murghus. “And to prove of the treaty I will send one of my own to Warfang with you, Murghus.” She said.
It was Murghus’ turn to be shocked. “Really your majesty?” he asked.
“Of course. You are my second best guard with only Brohn surpassing you and he’s already been to Warfang.” She told him.
“Th… thank you my Queen! It will be an honor!” he said with a bow.
Glacia was overjoyed to hear of Murghus accompanying her to Warfang. “If I may ask though, I would also like to take Eirlys with me as well. You see, her mother…”
“I knew you would ask, which is why I sent them off to prepare to fly with you.” Krystal told them.
Behind them a door opened and in walked Eirlys and Tundra. “So aunt Glacia, when do we leave?” Eirlys asked.
Glacia smiled and said “as soon as we are ready. I want to at least get past the blizzard before morning. After that we shall get some rest then continue our flight.”
“Alright then, let’s get going.” Tundra said as he stepped up next to Eirlys.
“What? Why is the prince coming?” Murghus asked Krystal.
“I want him to get to know his mates parents and get their approval before their wedding. And, he’s always wanted to visit Warfang.” She answered.
“Very well then, I shall keep him safe.” Murghus told her.
“Only until you get to Warfang, then I want you to focus on the treaty. But after that have fun in Warfang. It’s your vacation, do as you wish.” The Queen told him.
“Thank you my Queen, But I shall return when the treaty is all done with.” He said.
“Thank you. Now go and keep peace between us and Warfang.” She said.
Tundra walked up to her and hugged her tightly, saying “bye mom, and thank you for this opportunity.”
“Of course my son. Now go, and be nice to Eirlys’ parents.” She told him.
“I will.” He said.
With a final kiss on the forehead he ran back to the others and made their way out of the castle. With a sigh Krystal decided to call it a night, but was interrupted when a guard came into the room and said “there is another dragon wanting to meet with you.” He said.
“What did he say his name was?” she asked in a sleepy tone.
The guard replied with “Adrian.”
Krystal froze on the spot. She knew that name. She was so speechless that she couldn’t tell the guard what to do. “Uh… bring… bring him to me.” She finally said.
“Yes your majesty.” The guard said with a bow before leaving the room.
Krystal began to pace back and forth with excitement. She had not seen Adrian in a long time, the last time being… “Krystal?!” a dragon said from the doorway, taking her away from her thoughts.
She turned and surely enough a green dragon was standing in the doorway, it was none other than her “Adrian!” she shouted with joy as she ran down and hugged him tightly. “Where have you been? I have been waiting to see you for the last thirteen years!”
“I am sorry, but the earth king wouldn’t allow anyone to leave Volos. I wanted to come out her again, but I couldn’t…” he began but was interrupted with her lips.
“It doesn’t matter, you are here now! And have I got some news for you.” She said after releasing from him.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Adrian, you have a son.”

Murghus led the others through the castle but was stopped at the main door by a blue dragoness. “Where do you think you are going?” she asked.
They turned and saw Alexis standing close by. “I am escorting lady Glacia and Prince Tundra back to Warfang.” Murghus told her.
“You can’t honestly be going with her! You belong to me!” she said.
Glacia glared at the dragoness but Murghus patted her shoulder to calm down. “I will take care of this.” He told her. After Glacia nodded Murghus walked up to Alexis and said “Alexis, you are a very nice dragoness, but I am not in love with you. I have fallen in love with lady Glacia.”
Tears instantly formed in Alexis’ eyes. “How… how could you? After all the time we spent together you fall in love with a dragoness you hardly know?!” she cried.
“I have learned enough that I think she is the one for me. You are a good friend Alexis, but we can’t be more than that. I am sorry, but you will find a worthy dragon someday.”
“But I want you! I love you Murghus!” she told him.
Glacia heard that last part and felt her heart sink. “Alexis, it was not meant to be, but I do wish you…” Murghus began but couldn’t finish because she had stormed off, her tears covering the floor as she ran. Murghus walked back to everyone else and said “lets go.”
Glacia looked at Murghus, asking herself ‘what could he have said to make her cry like that?’
Murghus led them out of the castle and through the city in silence. When they had reached the wall He spread his wings and led the way through the blizzard.

Spyro landed on a hill close to Cynder’s castle and looked at it. “There’s no doubt, he released them!” he said to himself. He closed his eyes and used his earth powers to search the castle to see who was inside. Sure enough he felt the presence of Gaul and Ciqala in there, but only found Evil Cynder asleep. He had searched every in of the castle but couldn’t find Demetrius or Phoenus. “That is odd, he should be in there.”
He used his light powers to search the area and found a black aura leading away from the castle. It was several days old but he could still se it. “Must be Demetrius. Phoenus could be with him!” Spyro said as he got up and followed the aura as quickly as he could.

RotI ch. 37 pt. 1

Unwanted Meeting

Adrian stared wide eyed at the ice queen. "Wh… what?"
"You have a son!" Krystal replied with thirteen years of built in happiness finally showing itself.
The earth dragon almost lost his balance from the shocking news. "How… how can this be? The last time I saw you was…"
"Thirteen years ago. That's how old he is." She finished.
"Where is he?" he asked.
"You actually just missed him. He left for Warfang right before you walked in. He should be back within a month so you can see him…"
"I can't stay." Adrian interrupted.
Krystal's expression went from joy to sadness in an instant. "What? Why?" she asked.
"Because I am here on a mission from the earth king himself. He wants me to get your allegiance for the war against Warfang."
Krystal gasped in shock. "You…. You're working for the earth king?" she asked.
"I had too. It's the only way I could've come here to see you. If you join us then we can be together all we want! No more separation from kingdoms, once we defeat Warfang we can finally live together with our son!" Adrian said with a smile.
Krystal backed up in disbelief. "No, I cannot join your cause. I will not assist with an evil king taking over the world. I am sorry my love, but I have already decided to join Warfang."
The smile now changed to a frown on Adrian's face. "How can this be? How can you choose protecting Warfang over being with your mate?"
"As a queen it is my duty to think of what's best for the people not just in my kingdom, but in the world, Warfang included. If you really did love me then you will respect my decision and tell your king we said no!"
Adrian's head dropped as he said "I can't do that. The earth king has a secret weapon that will come out and destroy Pyry if I came back empty handed. I cannot allow you to decline!"
"Then we will fight this secret weapon and defend our city as we always have! I will not allow innocent dragons to become slaves or worse! We will fight with Warfang to the death if we have to!" Krystal barked at him.
Adrian backed up in shock from her sudden rage. He looked her in the eyes and just saw how serious she was. "I cannot tell him, I love you too much to lose you." He said, a tear streaking down his cheek.
For a moment Krystal just stared angrily at him but in an instant lost control of herself and fell into his arms crying. "I'm sorry I snapped at you like that! I… I just thought of my duties…" she began but was interrupted by Adrian's lips.
"I too am sorry. I should not force you into joining us. I was just too scared to lose you." He said after releasing from her.
"I am sorry my love, but I still cannot. I have already sent the ice guardian back to Warfang with my guard to sign the treaty."
Adrian lowered his head again and closed his eyes to think. When he opened them and looked back up at her he said "then I will lie to the earth king and say that you have agreed to join us, just to keep you safe."
"That's a great idea, but what if…"
"Do not worry, I will deal with it. When I leave though I might need one of your trusted dragons to go with me to help convince the earth king."
"Then I shall send Alexis, she is one of my most trusted maids. She will accompany you back to Volos."
Adrian smiled and said "very good. Now then, I have had a long journey and am requiring a place to sleep. Shall I have the guard escort me out then?"
Krystal smiled back and said "no, allow me to escort you to a room."
Adrian followed her as she led him into her room, locking the door behind her.

Murghus led the other three through the harsh blizzard with ease. Brohn had sent Murghus to escort many dragons through there countless times, he could find his way through it during the nighttime. "Stay close, it's difficult to find someone in this." He repeatedly told them.
Eirlys flew as close as she could to Tundra, whom kept his eyes on Murghus the entire time. Glacia had already cleared the blizzard but was still unaware of where she was flying, so she stayed close to Murghus as well, which she didn't really mind. 'Should I tell him how I feel?' she asked herself.
'How will she react to my feelings?' Murghus asked himself. They were both taken out of their thoughts when the snow around them began to calm down. Murghus looked up at the moon and saw that it had barely made its descent. "We shall rest here for the night." Murghus announced.
The three dragons followed Murghus down to the ground. They landed with the snow crunching underneath their feet. Tundra led Eirlys to an area where he cleared out the snow to prepare a nest for them to sleep in. "Thank you my prince." She said with a kiss.
"Anything for you my love." He replied as they both laid down and fell asleep together.
Glacia watched them with a smile. "They look so lovely together." She said as she, too, readied herself for sleep.
Murghus was lying down on the other side of the sleeping couple and couldn't take his eyes off of the ice guardian. He knew how he felt for her, but he didn't know how she felt for him. "Milady Glacia, may I speak with you for a minute?" he asked her.
She shot her head up in surprise but calmly said "yes, of course Murghus."
They both got up and walked farther into the forest side by side. They stopped when Tundra and Eirlys were just about to leave their vision and sat down to where they were facing each other. Murghus looked at the ground and ran a claw through the snow as he said "you know, ever since Kyrie died I have felt nothing but sadness, and at times I have questioned myself why I wasn't the one that died instead of her. Brohn has managed to keep me from ending my life and has taught me to be more positive for the younger students, but on the inside I still feel hurt. This sadness has been corrupting my heart, until this morning when I met you." Glacia was staring at him with her heart about to beat out of her chest. "When I first saw you this morning I felt that same feeling I had with Kyrie, I felt happy again.
"Then when we were in the gardens and shared that kiss the happiness grew. I felt something I have never felt before, love." Murghus looked up into her eyes and took her paw in his. "Glacia, I love you with all my heart and would do anything for you. I don't know how you feel but I just wanted you to know how I have been feeling."
Glacia was speechless at what the dragon in front of her just said. She had dreamt of this moment happening for years but never expected it to come true, especially on her trip to Pyry. In an instant she threw herself onto Murghus and hugged him. "Murghus, you are not the only one that feels this way. I love you too!" she said with tears of joy streaming down her cheeks.
Murghus was shocked by her sudden hug but hugged back nonetheless. For what seemed like a lifetime they hugged until Murghus backed away and sad "then there is only one more thing which I must ask." He took her paw again and asked "Glacia, will you be my mate?"
Glacia smiled wildly as she said "yes, of course I will!"
Murghus smiled as well when she, again, threw herself at him and kissed him. The kiss was just like their first one, only this time they knew the other felt the same. Unknown to them Eirlys had woken up and followed them into the forest. As she watched them continue to kiss she couldn't help but smile for her aunt finally finding her true love. She turned to walk back to Tundra but looked one more time at the two adults and whispered "congratulations you two."

RotI ch. 37 pt. 2

Relic had caught up with the others and led the way with Hashara. "Which way do we go?" Hashara asked.
"If I remember correctly Zoidius said that Warfang is southeast of the castle. If we follow the stars we might find our way there." Relic answered.
They both looked to the sky and saw only the dark rain clouds above them. "… well that didn't work well." Hashara stated.
"Well then, we have to just keep walking until Zoidius catches up or we find a village." Relic told her.
"That will not be necessary my dear." Someone said from behind. Everyone turned and saw two pairs of crimson eyes staring at them from the darkness of the trees. "We would be happy to escort you to a safe place." The voice continued as the figures stepped out into the clearing, revealing two black dragons and a small red one.
The three dragons circled around the group of slaves with evil smiles spread across their faces. All of the males formed a protective ring around the women and children and readied themselves for the worst. When Phoenus circled in front of Relic she asked "what did you do with Zoidius?"
"Oh, him. He got in my way, so I had to kill him." He replied.
Relic's heart sank, she could not believe what he had said. "N… no… you're lying!" she shouted, her tears already wetting the ground beneath her.
"I wish he was Relic." Leonidus said to her. "He was a good apprentice."
"But a traitor nonetheless." Demetrius added. "Now, surrender and most of you will not be harmed. If you don't then only one of you will live." He finished with a glare at Relic.
The rest of the slaves looked back at Relic with loyal eyes. She knew that they were awaiting her decision before doing anything. She looked among each of them, several willing to fight whereas others were showing obvious signs of fear. She then looked at the evil dragons surrounding them, then down at her growing belly, thinking of her child. She looked up at Leonidus and said "we have no intention of letting Zoidius' death go to waste! We will fight our way out of here and we will reach safety, together!"
Leonidus frowned at her words. "Very well then. We have no choice but to kill most of you." Demetrius said. "Phoenus, care to have the first one?"
"With pleasure master!" Phoenus replied with an evil grin.
The men prepared themselves for the worst when they saw Phoenus prepare to charge at them. With a roar he lunged at the first male dragon he saw and dove for his neck. The next thing he knew his mouth was filled with dirt. He looked around and saw a dome of dirt surrounding the slaves. Phoenus got off and spat the dirt out and looked at his master. "It wasn't me!" Demetrius told him, confused as well.
Phoenus heard the flapping of wings above them and looked to the sky and saw a figure flying above them. The dragon lowered down and everyone saw that it was none other than Spyro. Phoenus gave an evil grin and said "hello father."
Spyro looked in shock at his son. The first thing he noticed was his blood red eyes. "Phoenus… what happened to you?" he asked.
"It's quite simple really. I found someone that can help me, unlike you." He replied.
"That is not true son! I was helping you, things just…"
"Went wrong? Of course it did, because you were hiding me from the real cure, darkness! You just wanted me to stay weak with the light, just like you!"
"The darkness may be powerful, but it is missing something important, love."
Demetrius stepped up and said "now there is where you are wrong again. Love is everywhere in the darkness. In fact the only way to be one with the darkness is to love it."
Spyro glared at Demetrius and said "I see you are back to your usual tricks. Whatever spell you put on my son I demand for you to release him from it!"
"But why would I want to take away something he loves? That would just be, evil." Demetrius replied with a sly grin.
Spyro shook away his words and looked back at Phoenus. "Son, forget about this and come home with me, your mother has been worried sick about you!" he said.
"No dad, I can't. It is with these powers that I can control my spasms, I am never going home!" Phoenus replied.
"You don't need the darkness! I have found another way to cure you!"
"Just like the last one? How well did that work out?"
"This one is different! It may take some time but soon enough…"
"No! I am done with waiting! I am cured now and I am filled with power! Power you have been afraid of teaching me!"
Spyro sighed and bowed his head. "You've left me no choice then. You are coming home with me, whether you want to or not."
In an instant the purple dragon charged at his son only to be tackled out of nowhere by Demetrius. "you will have to get through me to get to my apprentice!"

RotI ch. 38 pt. 1

Failure

Spyro got to his feet and turned to face Demetrius. They slowly started circling each other, eyeing the others movements and waiting for a chance to strike. "Back off Demetrius! I am taking my son home with me!
Demetrius chuckled and said "the only place you are going is the afterlife!"
"Not until after I send you there first!"
Suddenly Spyro charged forward and throwing his jaws wide open he sent a blaze of fireballs towards Demetrius.
Demetrius did not even as much as flinch and created a wall of stone which blocked the fireballs.
Seeing the stonewall appear in front of him, Spyro covered himself in a layer of protective stone and jumped forward head first, shattering the wall in a cascade of small shards. But to Spyro's surprise Demetrius was no longer on the other side. A whistling sound made Spyro look upwards and there he saw a large icicle heading directly towards him. Spyro jumped aside at the last second, but did not have time to stop as the whistling sound grew louder and more icicles struck the ground all around him. One of the icicles nicked Spyro's right back leg and he flinched in pain. Stopping suddenly, Spyro turned his head upwards and fired of a powerful lightning bolt which shattered one of the icicles and then jumped to the other icicles, shattering each of them in turn as it moved towards Demetrius who was hovering in the air above. Demetrius saw the lightning bolt coming and rolled in the air to get clear. He only barely made it as the lightning bolt flew past him, but Demetrius did not have long to think about as Spyro was now in the air and heading towards him.
Demetrius turned in the air, aiming to strike at Spyro with his tail blade. In response Spyro beat his wings with all his strength, increasing his altitude and the blade passed harmlessly beneath. Not wasting a second Spyro pulled his wings together and fell towards Demetrius with his claws stretched out in front of him and his teeth glistening.
Demetrius saw the danger he was in and gathering his wings he dropped towards the ground ahead of Spyro. He hoped to achieve enough speed before he hit the ground to outmaneuver Spyro and get clear. Just before hitting the ground Demetrius opened his wings and rolled to get clear of Spyro. He almost succeeded as Spyro tore a small wound through his side just as he pulled away. Spyro landed on the ground and immediately turned towards Demetrius who had landed a short distance away. Breathing heavily Spyro said "what is it you want my son for?"
"I want to only help him with his problem, just like he asked me to."
"He doesn't need your poison to get better! I know a way to cure him!"
Again Demetrius chuckled. "Not from what I've heard.
The two only watched each other for a second, before charging again. As they approached each other Spyro created four spheres of flame which flew ahead of him towards Demetrius. Demetrius extinguished them all with a breath of frost and then created a powerful localized tremor right under Spyro, knocking Spyro off balance.
Spyro sank down upon one leg from the shaking, but he was not defenseless. He quickly stopped the tremors beneath him turning the earth into a wall in front of him instead. He then quickly got to his feet, only to notice a reddish glow on either side of him. A ring of flame was spreading around him and looking upwards Spyro could see that the flames were also moving upwards, turning into a half sphere of fire. It spread fast and Spyro knew he could not get out in time.
From the outside Demetrius watched as the sphere closed and began shrinking with a smile. For a moment the small half sphere burned intensely and then it disappeared.
The ground underneath was blackened, but Spyro was not there. Demetrius looked around and upwards trying to find Spyro, but he saw nothing. His senses were all scanning for anything unusual when suddenly the ground beneath him started to shake and without warning a lightning bolt pierced the earth next to him.
Demetrius only just reached to jump into the air, before the area where he had been standing exploded and Spyro appeared from beneath the earth. Spyro quickly reached the still shaken Demetrius and lashed at him with his claws, but Demetrius rolled out of the way and quickly landed again. But Spyro was not going to let him get away this time and with a breath of ice he froze Demetrius tail to the ground and headed straight towards Demetrius again.
Demetrius quickly broke the ice, but he could not put any distance between himself and Spyro and the two were locked in a fight on teeth and claws.
Suddenly Spyro breathed a small torrent of flames at Demetrius forcing him to rear back and then in one motion turned around and swept Demetrius of his feet with his tail.
Lying on the ground Demetrius was trying to get up as Spyro reared back to bring both his claws crashing down upon Demetrius. Just seconds before he could land the blow Spyro was tackled from his left. He looked to see who his attacker was and saw that it was his son. "Phoenus, what are you doing?" he asked in shock.
Phoenus glared at him for a second before saying "it is time for you to leave, father."
Spyro stared in disbelief. He looked into his sons eyes and saw just how serious he was. Phoenus backed off of his father and helped his master get up. Once he was standing again they both turned their attention back to the purple dragon. With his heart full of sadness Spyro said "I guess you really are lost. I cannot fight you if it means losing you even more. I will go, but know that we will be waiting for your return."
"Don't bother, I am never going back to that pathetic city!" Phoenus told him.
"Then you will never see Granite again!"
Those words hit Phoenus hard in his heart. Even when he was corrupted his feelings for Granite stood strong. "That is a sacrifice I am willing to make." He said.
Demetrius chuckled then looked back at the dome with the prisoners inside. Before he could place his paw on it to break it Spyro said "don't even think about it! I am taking them with me!"
The black dragon thought about it but then said "fine, their use has been finished anyways."

RotI ch 38 pt. 2

With one last look at Spyro Demetrius turned back into the trees with his two apprentices following him. Once they were gone Spyro bowed his head and said to himself "I have failed." His tears were wetting the ground beneath him but he quickly wiped them off as he approached the dome. Once he placed his paw on it the dirt dove back into the ground where it had come from. Immediately all of the dragons inside screamed in fear. "It's alright, I'm not going to hurt you."
Everyone looked at him in shock. Once they realized Demetrius and Leonidus were gone Hashara asked "what happened?"
"I fought them off. You are all free now." Spyro answered.
Relic walked out from the middle and bowed at Spyro's feet. "Thank you, thank you so much for saving us!" she said with tears of joy falling down her cheeks.
The rest of the dragons followed her and bowed at the mighty purple dragon. "Please don't, I'm nothing special." He said.
"But you are! You are the legendary purple dragon, as well as our savior!" An older blue dragon answered.
"I couldn't just let Demetrius take you back, I can't imagine what he would have done to you!"
"But now it is behind us and we no longer have to fear him." A yellow dragoness said with a young child on her back.
"We have one request, sir. Could you please bring us to Warfang? We have heard that it's the safest place to be." Relic asked.
"Of course I will. Warfang is my home, I would be happy to lead you there." Spyro said.
A look of joy was spread throughout the group as they took to the sky with Spyro in front. They flew just a bit to the right of the rising sun, staying close to each other. The entire flight Spyro was trying his best to hold his tears back as he thought of how his son had acted towards him.

Phoenus returned to the castle with Demetrius and Leonidus, his mind lost in his thoughts. When Demetrius stopped to open the door he ran into his master's back left leg. Demetrius looked back and saw Phoenus' facial expressions. "You alright Phoenus?" he asked.
Phoenus quickly shook away his thoughts and returned to his normal blank stare. "Yes master, I am fine." He replied.
Unconvinced Demetrius said "that was an excellent job standing up to your father like that."
"I wouldn't let him take me away from the only place I can be happy." Phoenus replied.
Demetrius nodded then turned to Leonidus and said "we shall need your assistance training later, but for now we shall sleep. It was a long night and training without sleep is foolish."
"Yes master." Leonidus replied. "I have everything ready from training Zoidius. Phoenus will become an expert shortly."
"Very good." Demetrius said. "As for you Phoenus, be prepared to go through the hardest training you will ever go through."
"Yes master." Phoenus replied.
"Now, go and get some sleep, I shall wake you when it is time to train."
Phoenus walked away from the black dragons and into the room Zoidius had showed him just hours ago. He laid down onto his bed and looked out at the sunrise. "I will come back for you my love." He whispered before shutting his eyes.

Granite rested her head on the windowsill and watched the sun rising over the wall. "I wish you were here with me." She whispered with a tear sliding out of her eye.
Cynder saw her sitting by the window and walked to her and sat next to her. "Granite, are you alright dear?" she asked.
Granite took a deep breath and said "I just, really miss Phoenus right now."
"Well, I know my mate, he will find him and bring him back here in no time, you'll see."
"I sure hope so." Granite said with a sigh.
Cynder watched her expressions and asked "you must really love him, don't you?"
Granite nodded and said "with all of my heart."
"I am sure that he must feel the same way to you, after all of the time you spent together."
"I know he does, but he believes that whenever he gets close to me I end up getting hurt."
"I can understand that. I used to think that same thing."
"Really?" Granite asked.
"Yes, when I was a couple of years older than you are now I had lost my mother and my life mate. I couldn't deal with the pain in my heart from losing them both. So when I was old enough I lived away from the rest of the village, so I wouldn't hurt anyone else, your father included. It wasn't until Ember talked to me that I realized what I was missing out on. I almost missed her wedding because of that thought." Cynder told her.
"That's awful! How did you lose your mother?"
"I'd rather not speak of it young one. It hurts just to think of it." Cynder told her.
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"It's alright, all that matters now is Phoenus' return."
"I just wish it were true." Granite sighed.
"He will return Granite, just have faith in the love you two share." Cynder told her.
After a minute Granite looked up at Cynder and gave a weak smile. "Thank you Cynder, I will."
"Of course Granite, anything for my future daughter in law." Cynder said, causing Granite to blush. After chuckling for a minute Cynder stood back up and walked back to her bed, where her dark blue egg rested. "And someday I hope to see one of these from you." She added.
Just the thought of her and Phoenus having a child made Granite feel happy. "I hope so to." She said.
Cynder smiled as she curled up around her egg. "You can go on home now and get some rest, I will be fine now."
Granite nodded and headed for the door, leaving Cynder alone with her egg.

The sun had just passed the horizon when its beams awoke the ice guardian from her peaceful sleep. She looked down at the blue paws wrapped around her. She smiled as she rolled over to face Murghus, whom had just awoken from her movement. "Good morning." She said to him.
He smiled and said "good morning my love. Did you sleep well?"
"It was the best night I ever had." She replied with a kiss. After a minute of their kiss Glacia backed away and stood up. "I guess we should get moving, Warfang is still a long ways away."
"Certainly. Eirlys probably can't wait to see her parents again." Murghus said as he, too, got up and stretched out his sleepy muscles. As he did so Glacia became intoxicated by each of his muscles, losing all thought to her new mate. Murghus noticed her staring and asked "is everything alright Glacia?"
She was brought back to reality and said "yeah, everything's perfect."
He smiled and gave her another kiss before they walked to where they had left Eirlys and Tundra several hours ago only to find them awake and chewing on a sheep carcass. "Good morning aunt Glacia, good morning Murghus." Eirlys said after swallowing her bite.
"Good morning you two. Did you both sleep well?" Glacia asked.
"Well I was awoken by a strange noise in the forest." Eirlys answered.
Glacia and Murghus both began to blush from what they thought she meant but Murghus quickly shook it off and said "we need to get moving. Your mother wants us to get this treaty taken care of so that you can return home."
"Alright then, let's go." Tundra said as he and Eirlys stood up.
Glacia and Murghus quickly finished what was left of the sheep, Murghus and Tundra immediately taking off. Eirlys was about to fly until her aunt stopped her and asked "what did you hear last night?"
Eirlys giggled and said "it's alright Glacia, I know what was going on. I am actually happy for you."
Glacia blushed even more before saying "was it really…"
"Yeah, it was." Eirlys said before taking off.
With her cheeks as red as fire Glacia took off as well, flying next to Murghus the entire time.

Reuniting Mother and Daughter

Within an hour of flying the scenery below the four ice dragons quickly began to change. It was no longer snowy but now was a vast mountain range with green trees covering them like a blanket. “It’s so beautiful! It has been so long since I have seen these mountains!” Murghus said as he examined each of them.
“When was the last time you came this far away from Pyry?” Eirlys asked.
“The last time I can remember was just before arriving at Pyry.” He answered. “I found Pyry to be a safe and beautiful place, I never wanted to leave. That is until I met someone even more beautiful.” He added with a smile to Glacia, making her smile as well.
Eirlys flew closer to Glacia and asked “aunt Glacia, have my parents really missed me that much?”
“Of course they have Eirlys! Why wouldn’t they? You meant everything to them!” she replied.
“I just… wanted to make sure. Has anything changed with them?”
Glacia was about to tell her about her brother, but said “you will have to wait and see.”
Eirlys looked at her confusedly but shook it off and returned to Tundra’s side. Murghus heard the entire conversation and saw the look on Glacia’s face. He got closer to her and whispered “what are you hiding from her?”
“Just the fact that she has a brother.” She replied.
“So your brother has two kids?”
She nodded with a frown and said “while I have been left with none.”
He reached over and nuzzled her cheek, saying “someday my love you will bear a child, and I would be honored to be the father of it.”
She couldn’t help but smile at him. “Thank you Murghus, I am sure you will be a great mate, but an even better father.”
He smiled and gave his mate a kiss. “I have been waiting to hear that for so long!” he said in excitement.
After a quick nuzzle they continued their flight to Warfang, everyone trying to keep the flight interesting by making small talk every now and then.

Around midday the ice queen awoke from her sleep. She rolled over and faced the earth dragon sleeping next to her, giving a sigh of relief that last night had not been a dream. She gently licked his cheek and whispered “I love you.”
Adrian only stirred a little in his sleep and mumbled gibberish. Krystal nearly jumped when she heard a knock on her door with a voice shortly after. “Queen Krystal, are you alright?”
She got off of her bed and quietly opened the door a crack to see that it was Malaxius waiting outside. “Malaxius, I am fine, just really tired from the feast last night.” She told her.
“Well forgive me for awakening you, your majesty, but it is nearly midday and no one has seen you.”
Krystal’s eyes widened with shock. “Oh my, I have overslept! Thank you very much for awakening me Malaxius.”
“Of course. May I get you something milady?”
“Yes, I would like some breakfast to be brought to me please.”
“Certainly your majesty.” Malaxius said with a bow before leaving.
Once she was gone Krystal silently closed the door and walked back to her still sleeping mate. She gently laid back onto the bed and cuddled up to Adrian and started humming a tune, stroking his paw gently. Within minutes he woke up and looked at his dragoness. “I recognize that tune.” He said sleepily. “It was our song from thirteen years ago.”
“I’m glad you remember it. I have sung it every night, and every time I did I would dream of you and the times we had together.” She told him.
“Yes, it does bring back a lot of memories.” He said as he brought her lips into a kiss.
In the middle of their kiss the door swung open and in walked Malaxius with a basket of food hanging out of her mouth. When she saw Krystal and Adrian kissing she went wide eyed and accidentally dropped the basket of food on the ground, the noise bringing Krystal and Adrian back to reality. Malaxius quickly began to put the food back into the basket, repeatedly saying “I am so sorry your majesty! I should have knocked first!”
Krystal and Adrian got off of the bed and helped her pick up the food. “It’s alright Malaxius, no need to apologize. I want you to meet my mate, and Tundra’s father, Adrian.” Krystal said.
Again Malaxius’ eyes went wide as she looked upon the earth dragon helping them. “It is an honor sir!” she said with a bow.
“Please, I am just a messenger, nothing special.” He told her.
“But you are the queen’s mate, which makes you the king of Pyry!”
“She’s right you know, and as the king you are needed here in Pyry.” Krystal told him.
“But I already told you, the earth king needs me to report back. If I don’t then he will destroy Pyry!”
The queen sighed and said “very well, but you must promise me that you will come back and visit more often.”
“I promise. I will make sure that I will be back in less than thirteen years this time.” He said, getting a laugh from Krystal.
Krystal turned to Malaxius and said “please go fetch Alexis for me, I need to speak with her.”
“Yes your majesty.” Malaxius said before leaving them again.
Once she was gone Krystal turned back to Adrian and said “you will like Alexis, she is one of my most trusted servants.”
“As long as she can keep the lie going to the earth king I will be happy. And I will try to convince him to send me back to Pyry, in order to ‘keep you truthful’.”
“Do anything you need to in order to get back here. Seeing you again has brought me happiness I thought to be long gone!”
“I will my love, I promise.” Adrian said as he sealed it in with a kiss.
After they had finished their kiss the door opened again, this time allowing Alexis to walk in. “have you summoned me my queen?” she asked.
“Yes I have. I have a very important mission for you. I want you to travel with Adrian here to the earth kingdom of Volos and convince the earth king that we have joined them.” Krystal told her.
“But I thought we were joining with Warfang.”
“We are, which is why it is vital that you keep the earth king convinced that we are with them in order to protect this city.”
“Yes your majesty, it shall be done.” Alexis said with a bow before leaving the room.
Adrian walked up to Krystal and said “I guess this is goodbye.”
“Unfortunately, yes, it is.” She replied, a tear already falling down her cheek.
He wiped away the tear and very gently said “I will return to you my love, and I will finally get to meet our son. I promise.”
She smiled and said “I know you will.”
With a final kiss Krystal led Adrian out of the bedroom and towards the man entrance where they met Alexis waiting for them. “Ready to go?” Adrian asked.
She replied with a nod and walked out of the castle with Adrian and Krystal right behind her. With the sun shining brightly over Pyry the two dragons stretched out their mighty wings and shot off of the ground and into the sky, leaving the queen behind. She watched as the dragon she loved flew over the gates of Pyry and into the blizzard defenses.

RotI ch. 39 pt. 2

The moles in Warfang had their hands full with rebuilding the turrets and the wall, as well as the school. Granite watched from a distance as the moles were scurrying around, trying to fix it as soon as possible. Many other dragons had volunteered to help by flying heavy loads to the top. Granite sighed as she remembered what had happened there several days ago. She got so lost in her thoughts she never realized that the former fire guardian was sitting next to her. “They are making great progress.” Infernes finally said.
Granite jumped in surprise but quickly regained her composure and said “but the memory will linger there forever.”
Infernes nodded and said “as it will with the parents of the students.”
“It wasn’t his fault! It was…”
“I know Granite. It was because of your brother, but everyone else is blaming Phoenus for it. You will understand their thoughts when you have a child of your own.” Infernes interrupted.
“But the only one I love is gone.” Granite said, her head bowed in sadness.
Before Infernes could say anything else a horn blew in the distance. She knew it meant for the guardians to head to the wall but she felt like she felt like she should be there. “I am sorry Granite, but I have to go.” She said to the moping dragoness.
“It’s alright, you have your duties to do.” Granite told her with a weak smile.
Infernes smiled back before flying towards the wall. She found her son and Statica already there. After she landed she asked “what is going on Flame?”
“The moles have spotted Glacia’s return!” he replied.
“Good, I hope she comes with good news.”
Surely enough an ice dragoness approached the city with another male ice dragon. Once they had landed Flame said “welcome back Glacia. Were you successful?”
“Yes I was Flame, in more ways than one actually.” She replied.
“How so?” Statica asked.
“Well, first of all Queen Krystal has agreed to join us. Secondly I would like you to meet my mate, Murghus.”
The other guardians stared in amazement as Murghus stepped forward and bowed to them. “It is an honor to meet the guardians!” he said.
“The pleasure is all ours.” Flame said.
“He will also be representing Pyry in the treaty signing, along with prince Tundra.” Glacia added.
Tundra stepped up from behind Murghus and looked up at the guardians. “Hello, I am prince Tundra, son of queen Krystal.” He announced.
“Welcome to Warfang your majesty.” Infernes said with a bow, the other two following her lead.
Once they had risen back up Glacia said “there’s one more thing. This one is for you, Statica.”
She stepped to the side to reveal a young white dragoness standing behind her. She looked up to Statica and said “hi mom.”
The electric guardian froze on the spot. It has been more than three years since she last saw her daughter but she instantly knew it as none other than Eirlys. Making sure this wasn’t a dream or a sick joke she asked “are you… really… my daughter?”
Eirlys walked up to her and said “yes mom, it is me.”
Statica immediately fell to the ground and hugged her daughter with tears of joy hitting the wall. “Eirlys, my sweet Eirlys, where have been?! We have missed you so much!” she said, in-between sobs.
“I am sorry mother, I wanted to come home but…” she began.
“It doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you are home!” Statica interrupted, still hugging Eirlys tightly.
The other dragons watched with smiles on their faces as the mother and daughter hugged and cried together for the first time in three years. Even the moles working on the turret next to them couldn’t help but stop and smile. Blink, whom was standing as a lookout, was watching as well. When he returned his focus to his job he spotted a big group of dragons flying their way. He ran over to Flame and said “we have a group of dragons flying our way!”
Flame looked up and saw them but recognized that Spyro was in front. “It’s alright, let them land.” He told Blink.
Blink nodded and returned to his post. Flame watched as Spyro landed with twenty other dragons behind him. Before Flame could say anything Spyro said “I found these dragons on my journey, they need to be fed and housed.”
Flame was shocked by how his cousin had spoken, he couldn’t sense a happy tone in him. He tried to look into his eyes to see if anything was wrong but Spyro kept moving his head away. “Yes, of course we will.” Flame said, still curious.
Without looking back Spyro flew off of the wall and into the city. Infernes had seen the entire scene and looked at her son for answers but only got a shrug. Spyro landed at the corner of his street and walked towards his home. “How am I going to tell Cynder?” he asked himself.
“Tell me what?” a voice asked from behind.
Spyro jumped around in surprise and saw Cynder standing behind him with a basket of food hanging on her neck. “Cynder! Why are you walking around in your condition?” he asked.
“I am fine Spyro, I laid the egg shortly after you had left.” She answered.
“You did?! Where is it?”
“It’s at home with Granite.”
Spyro wasted no time in turning around and running into their home, startling Granite as he swung the door open. He ignored the young green dragoness and looked for his egg. He found it bundled it up next to his and Cynder’s bed. He looked down at it and smiled, even though his heart was full of sadness. He carefully picked it up and examined it, making sure that it was in good condition. He sighed in relief after finding nothing wrong with it until Granite asked “where’s Phoenus?”
His frown returned as he gently laid his egg back down. Cynder had just walked in when he looked Granite in the eyes and said “I am sorry Granite, but he is gone.”
Granite stared at him in disbelief. Cynder walked up to him, tears already beginning to appear. “Wh… what do you mean?” she asked.
“He has chosen to join the darkness. I saw it for myself. He was defending Demetrius.”
Cynder gasped at her mate’s words. “No… he can’t be! He can’t be working for that monster!” she said. “You must be lying!”
“I wish I was, Cynder, but all I can say is that he is gone.”
Cynder shook her head, repeatedly saying “no! This can’t be!” until she fell over onto Spyro’s shoulders and began bawling. Granite walked up and joined them in crying, for the only dragon she will ever love was gone.

A Difficult Decision

During their walk home Eirlys told her mother all that had happened in the last three years, starting from when she got lost to before her proposal. "The dragons there were very nice to me. They treated me like a princess." She finished.
Statica smiled and said "I am glad that you were taken care of. It could have been much worse."
"I know, and I am thankful that Prince Tundra rescued me. If it wasn't for him it would've been much worse."
"You mean that prince was the one that saved you?" Statica asked. After Eirlys nodded in reply Statica added "then I owe him a lot for saving you."
"I sure hope so." Eirlys whispered to herself. "I did miss you guys every day though, every night I would dream about you and dad. Wait, where is dad?
"He's, busy right now. We can surprise him when we get home." Statica answered.
Eirlys smiled and hugged her mother again. "I missed you so much mom!"
"I missed you too my child." Statica replied with a nuzzle.
"Eirlys? Is that you?!" A voice asked from behind them, causing Eirlys to jump in surprise.
She turned her head to see her old friend Blazelight standing twenty feet away with Dash floating over her head. "Blazelight!" she shouted before running towards them.
The two friends reunited with a hug, followed by Blazelight asking "I can't believe it, you're back! Where have you been these last three years?"
"It's a long story that I will tell you with Granite and Phoenus. Where are they?" Eirlys replied.
A frown came upon Blazelight's face as she said "Granite's here, but..."
"Phoenus ran away a few days ago." Dash finished with a frown on his face as well.
Eirlys, too, began to frown. "What? Why?" she asked.
"Long story short it was because of Stone." Blazelight answered.
Eirlys growled and said "now I really, really hate him!"
"You aren't the only one." Dash added.
"Well, we will talk more about it later, right now I need to go home, see you guys later!" Eirlys told them as she turned and ran back to her waiting mom.
"See you later Eirlys!" Blazelight replied. "Come on Dash, we need to go tell Granite!"
Eirlys continued following her mother back to their home, all the while Statica was now telling Eirlys of all that had happened to the city in the last three years, all except for her younger brother. She stopped after telling her about the earth dragons attacking, for they had arrived at their house. The memories of her first seven years flooded back into her mind, from playing with her parents to learning her element to even every time Granite and Blazelight came over for the night. "Welcome home Eirlys." Statica said as they climbed up the steps.
When she opened the door and entered her house she saw that everything was the same as it was three years before. She looked over everything to get a feel for her surroundings again. She was so focused on the room she jumped when someone from the kitchen say "back so soon Statica? I would have thought Flame would have more for you to do."
She recognized that as her father immediately. She walked into the kitchen and sure enough a white and blue dragon was standing with his back to her, preparing what smelled like dinner. After taking a deep breath Eirlys walked closer and waited for him to turn around. Soon enough he picked up the tray of food with his right claw and turned to deliver it to Statica, but when he spotted Eirlys sitting in the doorway his eyes went wide and he dropped the food onto the floor. "Hi dad." she had managed to say.
At first Glacier just stared at Eirlys in disbelief, but after realizing he was not hallucinating again he walked closer to her and fell to the ground to her. Tears were already falling down his cheek as he cried "Eirlys! My daughter, you are home!"
Eirlys hugged him back, trying to comfort him. "I'm sorry I left dad, I really missed you." She whispered.
"Where have you been? Your mother and I thought you ere kidnapped!"
"It is such a long story, I don't even... who is that?"
She was pointing at a young yellow and blue dragon sniffing at the dropped meal. Glacier smiled and said "that is your brother, Thunor."
Now it was Eirlys' turn to be shocked. "My... brother?"
"Yes, I found out I was pregnant with him shortly after you had disappeared." Statica told her.
Eirlys let go of her father and walked up to her brother, whom was still too busy eating the food to notice her, until she had tapped him on the shoulder. He looked up at her and their eyes met, studying each other. After a minute Thunor smiled at her then continued eating the dropped food. Eirlys looked back at her parents with a confused look on her face before Glacier said "don't worry, that means he likes you. Just wait until after he's done eating, he'll want to play until morning."
Eirlys nodded and walked back to her parents and hugged them both at the same time. After a minute they let go and Eirlys announced "there is something I have wanted to tell both of you ever since I returned, something amazing that happened to me in Pyry."
"What is it dear?" Statica asked.
She paused for a minute to take a deep breath before announcing "I'm engaged!" The smiles disappeared from her parents faces quickly after her announcement and were replaced by frowns, which caught Eirlys off guard. She had expected them to be happy for her. "Mom, dad, are you guys alright?" she asked.
They both looked at one another with the same confused face, as if asking each other what they should say. They looked back at Eirlys and Glacier asked "you... you are?"
Eirlys nodded and said "yes, to Prince Tundra."
Statica's eyes widened with shock. "You mean the one that Glacia introduced to me?" she asked. After Eirlys nodded again she said "I can't believe this! We just got you back and yet we are going to lose you again!"
"Mom, you aren't going to lose me."
"You don't understand Eirlys, since he is a prince his duties to his kingdom will keep him in Pyry, and when you get married to him you are bound to stay with him the rest of your life." Glacier told her.
Eirlys' heart sank, she never thought about it this way. She loved Tundra but also loved her parents and did not want to lose any of them. Before anything else could said there was a knock at the door. Glacier walked towards the door and opened it to see his sister Glacia standing outside with two other blue dragons. "Glacia! Welcome home!" he said.
"It's good to be home brother." she replied with a quick hug. "I assume you like what I brought back for you?"
"Yes, thank you so much!"
"Of course, but I also brought back something for me as well." Glacia said. She placed her left wing on the dragon next to her and announced "this is my mate, Murghus."
Glaciers eyes yet again widened with shock. "You... you found a mate?!" he finally was able to say. After both Glacia and Murghus nodded a smile swept across Glacier's face. "This is wonderful news! I am so happy for you! When is the wedding?"
"We wanted it to be soon, we already sent a messenger dragon to get your parents." Murghus answered.
"That's great! What about your parents?"
Murghus bowed his head in sadness. "I do not have any parents. They were killed by Demetrius when I was very young." he answered.
"Oh my, I'm so sorry. I know from experience what Demetrius is like." Glacier said, looking at his scars from ten years ago.
"It's alright brother, it is all in the past, I have moved on." Murghus told him.
Glacier nodded and said "please, come in."

RotI ch. 40 pt. 2

The three ice dragons walked into the house and into the kitchen where Statica and Eirlys were waiting. "Hello Statica, enjoying your time with your daughter?" Glacia asked.
"Yes, very much. I assume you are enjoying your time with your mate as well?"
Glacia nodded and said "yes, we just walked around the city a bit."
"I must say that Warfang is amazing! Even Pyry doesn't stand a chance against its beauty!" Murghus told them.
"But from what I have heard Pyry is a beautiful place." Glacier said.
Murghus nodded before answering with "it is, but it's all ice. Warfang has everything! Fire, electricity, earth, water, everything!"
"I guess that is true. In each of the kingdoms only one element can thrive inside the cities." Statica thought out loud.
Glacia looked down at the young blue and purple dragon next to her. "Prince Tundra here was anxious to meet you two, he wanted to meet the parents of his future mate."
Glacier looked at the prince and asked "so you are the one that proposed to my daughter?"
"Yes, I am Tundra. It is nice to finally meet you. Eirlys talked a lot about you guys over the last three years." He replied with an extended paw.
Glacier reluctantly shook the young dragons paw and said "nice to meet you too. Forgive me for not having any food prepared, little Thunor here ate all of it."
The stuffed dragon looked up at the adults and smiled innocently, making everyone else chuckle. "It's quite alright, we have already eaten. Glacia took us to one of the best restaurants in the city." Murghus told him.
"Only the best for my mate." Glacia said, followed shortly with a kiss from Murghus.
Glacier smiled at the sight of his twin sister finally happy again. They all moved into the living room and sat down in a circle with everyone next to their mates, except for Thunor whom was fast asleep next to Statica. After Glacia finished telling Glacier and Statica about her trip to Pyry and how she and Murghus met Statica said "wow, that is so romantic!"
"And I couldn't have asked for a better dragon to share it with." Glacia added.
"I just hope Alexis will take it alright." Murghus said with a sigh.
"Who's Alexis?" Glacier asked.
"A dragoness that has been madly in love with me for many years. She even thinks that I agreed to be mates with her when I never did."
"Oh my, I hope she doesn't try anything to separate you two."
"Nothing can take me away from Glacia's side!" Murghus stated with a kiss.
"Very good, that's what true love is like." Statica said, nuzzling her mate.
After the nuzzle Glacier looked at the ice prince and asked "Tundra, may I see you in the kitchen for a minute?"
"Certainly." Tundra replied.
Once Glacier was already in the kitchen Tundra got up but was stopped by Eirlys' paw. "Good luck." She told him.
Tundra nodded and kissed her cheek before walking into the kitchen. Once he was in Glacier shut the door and Tundra asked "is there something you wanted to talk about?"
"Yeah, just as a dragon to dragon talk." Glacier answered. After he sat back down in front of Tundra he asked "how was it that my daughter ended up all the way in Pyry?"
"I was with my guard exploring a forest one day when I spotted her. She was weak and needed help, I couldn't have left her there." Tundra answered.
"I see, then I am thankful that you found her, but not so much that you kept her in Pyry."
Tundra was about to tell him what Eirlys had told him three years ago but instead decided to say "I am sorry, but I loved her from the moment I saw her. I was afraid I would never see her again."
"And you must understand that I am in that position now. Since you are the prince your duties to your kingdom come first, and if Eirlys is your queen she will have to remain at your side. If I let her get married to you I will never get to see her again."
The ice prince bowed his head in sadness, he knew where this was going. "I understand, I won't take your daughter away from you any more than I have already. Please forgive me…"
Glacier interrupted him with a chuckle and said "but what kind of a father would I be if I took my daughter away from the dragon she loves?"
Tundra looked in shock at the ice dragon. "But, you just said…"
"I know, but it doesn't mean I will force her to stay. It is her decision to stay with you or not, all I want is for her to be safe and happy."
A smile swept across Tundra's face as he said "thank you, Mr. Glacier, and I promise to do anything I can to allow Eirlys to visit whenever she wants to."
The adult ice dragon patted Tundra's head and told him "please, call me dad."
"Thank you, dad."
Glacier nodded and opened the door to let Tundra walk out while he remained in the kitchen. He sat there for several minutes, rubbing his head every now and then, until the door opened again, letting his mate walk in. She sat next to him and said with a smile "Tundra told us your answer."
"That was possibly the hardest thing I had to do. I would have rather gone through Demetrius' tortures a thousand times than let her go." He told her.
Statica nodded and added "but it was the right thing to do."
Glacier smiled and gave her a kiss. "That's what I love about you, you always know how to cheer me up."
His mate giggled before kissing him again followed by a hug.

RotI ch. 20 pt 3

Spyro had left the house again to clear his mind and allow Cynder to sleep again. He walked to Warfangs main wall, facing towards the valley of Avalar, and sat down, looking over the horizon. He closed his eyes and focused his light powers to try to soothe his mind and heart, but the image of his son working for that monster continued to appear in his mind. He eventually just shook it off and looked over the field. "Ready to talk yet?" a voice asked from his left.
He looked and saw his cousin Flame sitting next to him, a worried look over his face. "Flame? When did you get here?" Spyro asked.
"While you were meditating. I wanted to talk with you but I didn't want to ruin the meditation, so I waited. What's up?"
Spyro sighed and replied with "my son, has released Demetrius."
Flames eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Oh my, that's not good! How do you know this?"
"I fought him."
"Demetrius?"
"Yes, and my son. He's his new apprentice." Spyro answered, his head falling again, holding back the tears.
Flame shook his head in disbelief. "He was such a good boy. I can't believe he did that!"
"He thinks he's getting help to stop his spasms forever, but doesn't realize the cost."
"Did you try to bring him back?"
"Yes, but he resisted, then Demetrius got in the way. I almost defeated Demetrius again but before I could finish him off again Phoenus attacked me. I could not fight him Flame! He's my son!"
"I understand Spyro, no one can live themselves if they had to do that."
"All I could manage to do was bring back those dragons, they were attempting to escape Demetrius' clutches when I arrived."
"So it wasn't completely a loss. You saved many dragons from suffering!"
"But I only wanted one other dragon with them."
"I can understand that, but what can you do? Phoenus made his choice, and you may not like it but you will have to deal with it for now and move on. If it's in the ancestors will he will return someday and everything will be normal again. You'll see."
The purple dragon looked up at his cousin with as much of a smile as he could force. "Thanks Flame, I really needed that."
"Of course Spyro, anything for…"
"Master Flame!" Blink shouted from his tower.
Flame looked up at the mole and asked "what is it Blink?"
"The cheetah villagers are approaching!" he answered.
"Hunter? Why's his entire village coming?" Spyro asked as he looked over the ledge for them.
"I do not know, I hope everyone's alright."
Spyro and Flame flew down to the gate and awaited the villagers' arrival. Within minutes the first cheetah made it to the gate, it was Katrina walking on a stick. "Katrina, what happened to you?" Spyro asked.
"We were attacked last night." She answered weakly.
"What?! By who?" Flame asked.
Another cheetah walked up next to Katrina with several burn marks on his fur and answered "a dragon. He came out of nowhere before everyone had woken up. We never got a good look at him, he covered the area with this black fire pretty quickly. What I did manage to see though was that he had a blindfold on him. But that was when…"
"When what?" Spyro asked.
Katrina patted the cheetah on the shoulder and said "he killed chief Prowles, his father."
Spyro's heart sank, he had known of Prowles ever since he met Hunter, and even though they were off to a bad start they had become great friends. "I'm so sorry, he was a noble leader and a true warrior. He will be missed." Spyro said with a paw on Slash's shoulder.
"Thank you, Spyro, but right now is not the time to mourn for him. My father would have wanted me to ensure the safety of the villagers before anything else. I bring them here and beg of you to take us in and…"
"Of course we will Slash. Your village is always welcome here. We will gladly find everyone a home." Flame interrupted.
The entire village cheered as they were led into the city by the fire guardian. Katrina and Slash stayed back to make sure everyone else had made it in safely. Spyro walked next to them and asked "where's Hunter? I didn't see him in the group."
"My father said he would catch up, said he had some thing to take care of first." Katrina answered as she swung her bow over her shoulders.
"Good, at least he wasn't hurt as well." Spyro sighed in relief.
"It is strange though, the dragon fought perfectly even with a blindfold over his eyes, how could he have done it?" Slash thought out loud.
"It baffles me as well. I have the exception with my light powers to fight blindly but never would I think another could do that!" Spyro told him.
"Well, all I know is that if I see that dragon again my father's sword is going straight through his chest!" Slash swore.
"Just don't go off and kill yourself, we need you as a leader now." Katrina told him.
"I know, I won't." he said, grabbing her paw in his. "I promise."
Katrina smiled and said "good, because you know how terrible I am at being a leader, which is what I would be if you got hurt!"
Slash chuckled and followed Spyro with Katrina to a place they could both sleep.

RotI ch. 40 pt. 4

The young red dragon fell to the floor yet again to the strength of his foe. The much older back and white dragon looked down at him, stating "when facing a foe three times your size you must use your mind to find ways to defeat them! You cannot just flat out charge at them, you must think!"
Phoenus tried lifting himself off of the ground but collapsed from the amount of pain in his still healing legs. "Alright Leonidus, that's enough…" he began.
Before Phoenus could finish his sentence Leonidus struck him with his tail, sending him into the wall. "It is not over until I say it is!" he barked at him.
Phoenus fell to the ground, his whole body now in pain. Not wanting him to strike him again Phoenus got up again and circled around Leonidus the best he could, looking for an opening. Spotting none Phoenus lunged up at him again, but only got the same result as the other many attempts. Leonidus' claw came up to stop the attack, but Phoenus shot fire at it and landed on Leonidus' face and started scratching furiously. Without hesitating Leonidus grabbed and threw Phoenus back onto the ground, where he stayed. "Great job Phoenus, you may make a warrior after all!" Demetrius told him. "That's enough for today Leonidus, we will continue this tomorrow."
"Yes master." Leonidus replied with a bow before picking up the fast asleep Rachelle and walking off to his room.
Demetrius made his way to his new apprentice and said "you really impressed me today young dragon. Your ability to control the elements is outstanding!"
Still breathing heavily and on the ground Phoenus replied "thank you… master. When will I get to learn…"
"Darkness? That element requires a lot of physical and mental strength, and with you already being in great shape I would say only a couple of years."
"What?! A few years?! I am ready now!" Phoenus protested.
"No, it is too powerful and you are too young, but you will be able to use the power of shadow soon, which is the most basic darkness power and is easy to control. But for now go and rest." Demetrius ordered before walking out, leaving the still hurting red dragon on the floor.
After a few minutes of laying there Phoenus was able to lift up his body and walk out of the training dojo. He continued walking until he found his room, where he limped over and flopped onto his bed, falling asleep instantly. So far during his stay with Demetrius night time was his favorite. It was the only time he could let all of his emotions out and think about whatever he wanted to. His dreams led him to anywhere he desired, and as of late all he wanted to think about was Granite.
In his dream he was several years older and twice as big as he was now. Laying down next to him was none other than Granite, the only dragoness he ever had, and will, love. They were laying together in a small house, his right wing was keeping her close to him. After a few minutes of nuzzling Granite pulled her wing back, revealing a red egg with green marks around it.
"That must be quite the dream." A voice echoed inside his head.
Phoenus' dream world went black as he looked around for the source of that voice. "Who are you?" he asked.
He jumped as a grey dragoness appeared in front of him. She had white horns and blue eyes with many scars covering her body. "If you like what you were dreaming of then why not go back to Warfang where you can live this happy life?" she asked him.
Phoenus just growled and answered "I cannot! After all of the pain she has suffered because of me, she deserves much better than me."
"You and I both know that's not true. You were the only dragon she will ever love, even with your curse! Did she not prove it when she flew after you? She is willing to be with you, to comfort you when you suffer." The dragoness continued.
"I do not want her to be there! All that will happen to her is pain, and if she's hurt then I will be too, no matter how bad the spasms hurt me!" He snapped at her. "Who are you anyways?"
"I am Spyroena, I have been sent by the ancestors to keep an eye on you." She answered.
"Tell them thanks for caring but I don't need my own guardian. I can take care of myself." Phoenus replied, trying to find a way out of the dream.
"Nice try, but you won't get rid of me that easily. My job is not to protect your physical form, but to protect your mind. Every time you fall asleep it will be my job to remind you why you are really using the darkness for and not let the cause disappear."
"What do you mean? I will never forget about Granite!"
"You say that now, but may I inform you that Malefor was once in your same position? He loved his mate, Karyma, but when she was killed because of his actions he had completely forgotten about her. My point is that as time passes the darkness will consume your thoughts and the memories of her will fade, Phoenus."
Phoenus' head dropped as she told him this. "I will not allow that to happen to me!" he told her.
Spyroena smiled and said "very good, and I will be here to help you with that." She lifted up his chin so that he was looking her in the eyes before continuing. "Do not be afraid young one. You will be back with Granite again in this lifetime, just have faith. Now, go and dream about her, and never forget her."
He couldn't help but smile at his new friend. "Thank you Spyroena, thank you for doing this."
"It is my pleasure young one." She said before giving him a hug.
She dissolved away and the last scene that Phoenus was in reappeared. He nuzzled the dream Granite and said "I will never forget, never ever."

Darkness had covered the land, only the moon gave out light for the two dragons flying over the vast desert. Adrian kept an eye out for the entrance to Volos, being careful not to pass over it. "You know the drill, right?" he asked Alexis without even looking at her. Alexis was too caught up in her thoughts to realize the earth dragon talking to her. "Alexis?"
"Hmm?" she replied after coming back to reality.
"Do you remember the plan?" he asked again.
"Yes, of course I do." She answered.
"Good, because we don't want to ruin the chance of saving Pyry. Remember, only speak when spoken to."
"I know Adrian, I know."
"Alright, here we are!" he said before diving at the sand.
She followed him closely into a giant hole that had appeared on the ground in front of them. After going through some tunnels she gasped in amazement as they arrived in a gigantic underground city. It was very similar to Pyry but was made of stone. Adrian led her into the castle and straight to the throne room. Inside it sat two earth dragons, one with along white beard and the other a tree on his back. "Ah, Adrian, you have returned. Were you successful?" the bearded dragon asked.
"I was, your majesty. The ice queen has agreed to join us when we require it." He answered with a bow.
"Excellent! We are one step closer to our goals! Who is this that you have brought with you?"
"This is lady Alexis, she is close to the queen and was sent to legalize our treaty."
"Really? So you have been sent by queen Krystal?" the earth king asked Alexis.
"Y… yes, I was." She stuttered in reply.
"Good, then I won't have to destroy the city after all. I need you to go back and request that the queen sign this herself." Silas told them.

RotI ch. 40 pt. 5 (last one)

Alexis was looking at the ground, her thoughts on Murghus and how he had betrayed her for the ice guardian. Tears fell from her face as she said "I can't! This is all a lie! The queen already swore allegiances with Warfang!"
The three earth dragons looked at her in shock. Adrian slapped his paw into his face, whispering "I knew it!"
"Is this true Adrian?" the earth king asked him. When Adrian did not reply he said "I cannot believe you would do this to me, after all I gave you!"
"I will not allow your thoughts crush the lives of many! Pyry included!"
"The only thing that will be crushed is your head! Boulder, take him away!"
Boulder got up to obey but Adrian knocked him over and ran for the door, only to be tackled by Alexis. "What are you doing Alexis?! You are…"
"Getting revenge on the one that betrayed me!" she finished.
Before anymore could be said from Adrian Boulder had recovered and knocked him out with a punch to his head. "Pathetic dragon, to think he thought he could save the weaklings." He sighed as he looked over the unconscious dragon.
"Take him away, I will deal with him later." Silas ordered. Once Boulder was gone with Adrian he turned to Alexis and asked "tell me, have you ever heard of the Ice Golem?

Return of the Guardian

Silas led Alexis through his castle and into a secret room underneath the dungeons, only several torches were giving life into the almost empty room. On top of a pedestal in the back of the room sat a small chest with ice symbols covering it. The earth king sat behind it and asked "have you heard about the great battle of Warfang twenty years ago?"
"I have, that was when Malefor attacked it with his army. I heard they had almost won because of…"
"A golem, an earth golem to be exact." Silas interrupted. "Twenty years ago Malefor sent his son Demetrius to find me, for years before that I made an agreement with him to assist each other in achieving our goals. When he found me he only requested one thing, the power to control the creature I had obtained, the earth golem.
"He made some adjustments to the golem, of course, by fusing it with black crystals, allowing it to breathe fire as well. I am disappointed that it did not complete its task, but it had served its use to the dark master, which was good enough for me. But now Demetrius has returned the favor by giving me this." Silas finished while opening the chest for Alexis to see.
The curious dragoness walked up and peeked into the chest to see a blue crystal sitting inside. She picked it up and examined it before asking "… a crystal?"
"Not just any crystal! This crystal contains the soul of a very powerful creature, the ice golem! And I give it to you to use as you wish." He told her.
"Me? Why me?"
"It is a powerful creature, but it is complicated as well. The earth golem could be controlled by anyone whom can control the earth element, but this golem can only be controlled by a pure ice dragon. It shall do anything you tell it to do once you summon it."
Alexis examined the crystal in her paws once again. "All this power at my disposal…"
"Do you know what you shall do with it?" Silas asked, a smile spreading across his face.
She looked him in the eyes, showing him the rage that sat inside of her. "I shall destroy the city of Pyry!"

Morning arrived in the city of Warfang, signaling the beginning of another very busy day for everyone. Eirlys had convinced her parents to allow Tundra to stay with her, which allowed Murghus to go with Glacia to her home. Only an hour after sunrise Flame summoned the other two guardians as well as Murghus and Tundra to the council chambers. Tundra had been begging Statica to allow Eirlys to come, but she would not allow it. "This is a closed meeting." she had said. "Only those needed will be allowed in."
Before Tundra could protest Eirlys placed her paw on his shoulder. "It's alright, I've got other things to do anyways." She told him.
Admitting defeat Tundra said "alright, I'll find you as soon as we are done though."
"Take your time, this meeting will be important."
He nodded and gave her a kiss before walking out of the house with Statica. They met up with Glacia and Murghus in the street and walked to the council chambers, where Flame, Terrador, and Spyro were waiting. Once everyone had arrived Flame announced "everyone take a seat please, we shall begin this meeting immediately." Once everyone sat down Flame continued with "Glacia, the ice queen has agreed to join Warfang, is that correct?"
"It is, Flame. To prove it she sent her second in command guard and her son to legalize the treaty in her absence." Glacia replied.
"Alright then, if they could both step forward please."
Both Murghus and Tundra stood up and walked towards the fire guardian. Glacia had gone over with Murghus what needed to be done the night before in order to enforce the treaty. "I am Murghus, Queen Krystal's second in command guard and a citizen of Pyry. I have been sent to sign any necessary documents in her place to legalize the peace between our cities." He stated.
"Very good, now the prince?"
With a firm confident voice Tundra stated "I am Tundra, son of Queen Krystal, prince to the city of Pyry. I have been sent as well to sign anything that requires me to do so."
"Good, now please step forward and sign this document, Murghus first." Flame told them.
They obeyed the fire guardian's command and walked up to where he sat, looking over the document he presented on the table, making sure nothing was written that could harm the people of either cities in any way. After not finding anything Murghus grabbed the quill with his right paw and signed his name at the bottom of the parchment, underneath where the guardians were meant to sign. He passed it to Tundra, whom signed his name next to Murghus'.
Flame took he document back and walked it over to Glacia for her to sign. Once she had finished he gave it to Statica for her signature. After she finished the last 'a' Terrador stood up and announced "I will sign it in place of Gravel."
"There will be no need for that." A voice from the entrance announced.
Every eye in the room turned towards the source and spotted a dragon hiding in the shadows. He stepped into the light so that everyone could see that it was Gravel. "Gravel! You have awoken!" Statica exclaimed.
:I have, and I am ready to serve my city again!" He replied, making his way to where Terrador was standing. "Thank you master Terrador, for taking my spot during my absence, but I am back now."
"I understand, welcome back master Gravel." Terrador stated before moving out of his spot.
Gravel sat down in the earth guardian seat and looked at Flame. "What do we have right now my friend?" he asked.
"A peace treaty between us and Pyry, the ice kingdom." He answered before handing him the document. "Welcome back Gravel."
"It's good to be back." Gravel said as he signed his name, completing the treaty.
Flame took the parchment back and rolled it up. He handed it to Murghus and said "now it only needs to be delivered to your queen. When will you be leaving?"
"I was thinking about waiting a couple of days. I haven't had much of an opportunity to see much of Warfang yet, and I was planning on attending my own wedding as well." Murghus answered with a smile directed towards Glacia, whom replied with her own smile.
"Very well, as long as she gets that treaty eventually. And with that this meeting is adjourned." Flame announced.
Immediately after that announcement everyone rushed to Gravel. "What happened to you? What made you go into a coma?" Glacia asked.
"My memory of it is still weak, but what I do remember is my own was the one that attacked me." He answered.
"That is what Granite had suspected the entire time." Flame stated. "I cannot believe that Stone would attack you the way he did!"
"Doesn't surprise me much with his past actions." Spyro mumbled.
"I can't imagine how much you hate him." Terrador added.
Gravel shook his head at the last statement. "I do not hate Stone for what he did."
"What?! But he…" Flame began.
"I know what he did! And I am aware of his past actions as well, but he is still my son. He is my own flesh and blood, so I must love him as much as I love myself, if not more. And I will go far enough to say I will forgive him if he ever asks for it."
Every dragon listened with interest at the guardian's words, giving a nod once he finished. "Well said master Gravel." Terrador stated.
"Agreed." Spyro added, thinking about the dilemma he was in with his son as well.
"Now, if you'll excuse me I have a very worried mate I need to reunite with." Gravel said as he stood up and walked out of the building.
Everyone else left and went in different directions. Terrador went into the market to do his usual browsing of the meat stands. Statica flew home to find that
Eirlys had taken Thunor on a walk. Tundra decided to give Murghus and Glacia some more alone time and searched for Eirlys.

During the meeting Eirlys looked around the city with Thunor running around playfully in search of her friends. She found them all in the gardens near their school with an unfamiliar black dragon with them. As she approached Granite noticed her and ran to her quickly, hugging her tightly. "Eirlys! You're home!" she exclaimed.
"Nice to see you too Granite." She replied, hugging her back.
"Blazelight told me you had returned, but I couldn't believe her until now! Where have you been?!"
"I don't know where to begin! I was… who are you?" Eirlys asked when the black dragon approached.
"My name is Shadow, I am a friend of Blazelight's." he replied.
"He saved me from a bunch of apes that attacked the city." Blazelight added.
"Really? It's nice to meet you." Eirlys said with an extended paw.
After they shook Eirlys went on to tell them everything that had happened to her three years ago. When she had finished Dash asked "so you left us to stay in a city of ice?" After Eirlys nodded in reply he added "well that sure makes us feel great! Being tossed away like yesterday's trash!"
"Dash! She must have had a good reason to have stayed!" Granite snapped at him.
"Oh yeah, what was your reason Eirlys?" he asked her.
With all eyes on her she answered with a blush "because I fell in love."
The stare changed from a curious to a shocked expression the second she had told them that. "No way! Who was it?" Blazelight asked.
"His name is…"
"Eirlys!" somebody shouted from behind her.
She turned and saw that it was none other than Tundra flying towards them. "Tundra!" she shouted. Once he landed she ran up and hugged him. After everyone approached them Eirlys announced "everyone, this is my mate, Prince Tundra!"
"Prince?! You mean to tell us that you are engaged to a prince?!" Granite asked in shock.
"Yes, I am prince Tundra of Pyry." He answered. "Are these the friends you have told me so much about?"
"They are. The green one is Granite and the pink one is Blazelight." Eirlys replied.
"Nice to meet you your majesty!" Blazelight said as she and Granite bowed.
"The pleasure is all mine!" he replied with a bow. He looked up and saw Shadow standing next to Blazelight. "And you are?"
"I am Shadow, a new friend of Eirlys. It's an honor to meet a prince." He answered.
"And it's an honor to meet any friend of my mate."
"And the little firefly is… hey, where is he?" Eirlys asked when she saw that Dash was missing.
They all looked around for Dash but couldn't find him, but Eirlys did see Thunor running around the block. She chased after him with Tundra right next to her and found him jumping into the air, trying to grab the young dragonfly. "Hey! Leave me alone kid!" Dash shouted, only making the little electric dragon laugh more.
"Alright Thunor, that's enough. Leave poor Dash alone." Eirlys told him.
The energetic dragon obeyed and ran back to his sister, still with a playful smile on his face. Dash flew up to her and said "you need to put him on a leash or something! I don't want to get squished before I leave!"
"You're leaving? Why?" Granite asked when she walked up with Blazelight and Shadow.
"My old man wants to get me out of the war, so we are going to my grandparents place. It's a lot safer there they say, but I don't really want to go." He answered.
"Why don't you?" Blazelight asked.
Dash rubbed the back of his head with his hand before saying "because… I don't want to leave my friends behind."
"Aww, that's actually somewhat sweet of you." Granite stated, making everyone but Dash laugh.
"I'm being serious guys! I really don't want to leave! Hanging out with you guys is too much fun!"
"Wow, you are actually being serious!" Blazelight stated. "When does your dad want to leave?"
"As soon as we can, and after we say our goodbyes of course." He answered. "But I'm not going!"
"Dash! You have to go with him!" Eirlys exclaimed.
"Why? So he can ruin my life?" Dash protested.
"No, because he's your father, and he's only thinking of what's best for you and your mom." Eirlys calmly replied.
"And it would be best to meet more of your own kind." Shadow added. "I may be new here but I can easily guess that you will not meet that special someone in a city like this."
"I know, but I don't want to loose all of you guys!"
"And you won't! We will be here when you come back." Granite told him.
The young dragonfly bowed his head in defeat. "Alright, I guess I'll go." He sighed. "So, I guess this is goodbye for awhile."
He flew down to each and every one of them and gave their snout a hug. When he was giving one to Granite he stopped and whispered "give my cousin a hug when he gets home, okay?"
The dragoness nodded and said "I will Dash, I promise."
"Dash! Time to go!" someone shouted from behind him.
He looked back to see his father, Sparx, floating with his mother, Violet. Sitting next to them was Spyro and Cynder, with a basket holding their egg around her neck. "Coming dad!" Dash shouted back.
With one last wave to his dragon friends Dash flew over to his patiently waiting parents. Before leaving Spyro noticed Granite sitting and shouted "Granite, your mother wants you home!"
She nodded in reply and said to her friends "see you guys later!" before running off.
"We should get going too. Thunor must be getting tired." Eirlys stated, looking at her finally tiring little brother. "See you later Blaze, Shadow." She said before walking off with Tundra and Thunor.
"Later guys!" Blazelight exclaimed before walking in the opposite direction with Shadow.

Spyro led the dragonfly family to the wall with Cynder to say their final goodbyes. "You sure you don't want to come visit mom and dad?" Sparx asked his brother.
"I'm sure, I have to be here in Warfang in case anything happens." Spyro replied.
"Alright, but you better make an attempt after that hatches!" he ordered with his finger pointing at their egg. "Mom and dad will go crazy seeing it!"
Spyro and Cynder chuckled, remembering the first time they took Phoenus to the swamp. Nina had pinched his cheeks so much they miraculously became redder than they already were. "We will make an attempt to do so." Cynder promised.
Sparx nodded in reply and hugged the dragoness' snout. He let go and flew to his adopted brother and squeezed his snout tightly. "You take care of yourself, you won't have me to get you out of sticky situations anymore."
The purple dragon held in his laugh, saying "you know me bro, danger is my middle name."
Sparx chuckled and raised his fist for Spyro to lightly bump his. Violet flew forward and stated "we need to go now honey."
"Right. Well, so long you two! Take care of the city!" Sparx said before flying out of the city with his family.
Spyro stayed where he sat, looking at the direction Sparx had flown to in disbelief. After all they had done together he already began to miss him. It wasn't until Cynder spoke that he awoke from his deep thought. "Come on, it's time for lunch."
He nodded in reply and followed her to their home.

Granite opened the door to her house and shouted "mom I'm home!"
Maka smiled and approached her daughter, asking "hello sweetie, did you have fun with your friends?"
"Yes, but it still doesn't feel the same." She answered.
Maka remembered everything Granite had told her about her feelings towards Phoenus. "It will be for awhile, just like when Eirlys went missing. But things always turn out for the best."
"But how can anything that happened be good? Phoenus is gone and dad's still in a…" Granite began, but stopped after hearing her parents bedroom door open to her right. She turned her head and saw her father, Gravel, standing in the doorway. Her eyes went wide with shock at what she saw before her now. It took her several minutes to gather up her thoughts again before she ran over to him and hugged his lowered head. "Dad! You're awake!" she cried.
"I am my child." He replied with his usual calm voice. "I am sorry for scaring you, I was just overwhelmed!"
"It's alright dad, and I'm sorry for scaring you by leaving Warfang, I had something I needed to do."
"It doesn't matter now! You are home safe and sound. To me nothing else matters."
Both earth dragons shed tears of joy as they hugged each other with Maka watching with a smile. She eventually joined into the hugging as well, happy that her family was back together again, mostly.

Glacia paced around her home waiting for Murghus to return from checking on Tundra. He had told her that he would be back soon, but that had been an hour ago. She was not worried about him, but was shaking with anxiety to tell him something. She was laying down in their living room when the door finally opened with Murghus walking in. "Hey Glacia, sorry I took so long." He immediately said.
"Was something wrong?" she asked, now worried that something happened to Tundra.
"There was, but everything's fine now. Tundra was just helping a young dragon named Damian in a fight but it stopped immediately when another electric dragon and I arrived." He answered.
"Ah yes, I know of Damian. He has gotten himself into trouble quite a bit. Is Tundra alright?"
Murghus nodded in reply, saying "he only has a few bumps and bruises, nothing serious."
"That's good." Glacia said with a sigh of relief. She couldn't imagine how the queen would take it if he had gotten seriously hurt on his first visit to Warfang.
The ice guard laid down next to his mate and nuzzled her cheek, but stopped when he felt her shaking. "Glacia, are you alright? You're trembling." He asked.
The dragoness smiled at him before saying "I am perfectly fine, I just have something I am excited to tell you." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before announcing "Murghus, you are going to be a father!"

RotI ch. 42 pt. 1

The Ice Golem's Awakening

Murghus nearly died of a heart attack at the last statement by his mate to be. "You… you are?!" He asked when he could finally speak.
She nodded in reply. "I am pregnant with your child!"
"This is… this is wonderful! You are finally going to be a mother!" Murghus exclaimed.
"And you will finally be a father." she added with a nuzzle. "And a great one at that."
"I'm not to sure about that part. I've never been a father before."
"Well I sure hope you haven't." Glacia said jokingly. "And I'm sure you'll make a great father for our child!"
He couldn't help but smile at his mate's kind words. He gave her a kiss before asking "have you told anyone else yet?"
"Other than Ember no. I asked her to check to be sure I was right." she answered. "I made sure she wouldn't tell anyone else about it."
"Well lets go tell you're your brother then! He would love to hear this news!" Murghus suggested as he got up.
Glacia nodded and stood up. "It won't be that easy to stand up soon."
Murghus chuckled at what she said. He led her out of the door and waked with her to her brother's house, spotting him with Statica sitting in the lawn together, watching the setting sun with their heads resting against each other's. When they approached Glacier asked "hello Glacia. What brings you here at these late hours?"
"Nothing much, just wanted to tell you that I am now the happiest I have ever been!" she replied.
"Why? You two didn't have the wedding yet, right? That's what you always talked about when we were kids."
"No, we have not gotten married yet. Our parents haven't even arrived yet. Something bigger than that!"
"Huh, so it wasn't your wedding, then it must be…" Glacier said as he became lost in thought of what it might be.
Statica studied the expression on Glacia's face, then Murghus'. After seeing their overjoyed expressions she exclaimed "you're pregnant!"
Glacia nodded at her friends guess, making her jump up in joy. Glacier on the other hand was frozen in shock. "You are?" he asked.
Again Glacia nodded, saying "I found out today from Ember. She says I am most certainly carrying an egg right now!"
The shock now disappeared from his face and was now replaced by a smile that went up to his eyes. "That is wonderful news my dear sister! I am so happy for you!" he exclaimed.
"Thanks Glacier. I have never been happier in my life!" Glacia replied, along with a nuzzle from Murghus.
"Any names decided yet?" Statica asked.
"I have not though of any names." Murghus replied. "What about you Glacia?"
"Well, ever since I was a child I always wanted a daughter to be named Eira. As for a boy, well I was going to let my mate decide." she answered.
With all eyes now looking at him Murghus said "it has been such a long time since I have thought about this. Last time I did though I had decided my son should be named Damarus."
"That's a very good name for a boy." Glacier said with a nod.
"Very well then, our child shall be named Eira or Damarus." Glacia stated with a look at her very slowly growing belly.
Statica noticed the look in Glacia's eyes and saw just the amount of joy that rested inside of her. "There's nothing better, is there?" she asked her. After Glacia gave her a confused she added "the feeling of being a mother. I remember when I was pregnant with Eirlys, there was no better joy than that I believe."
"Oh, yeah, it's the greatest feeling in the world!" Glacia replied.
Glacier's head suddenly shot up when he looked behind Glacia. "Glacia! Mom and dad are here!" he exclaimed.
Glacia turned her head in excitement and saw two ice dragons approaching them. The twins sprung up and ran over to their parents, embracing them both in hugs. When Murghus and Statica approached Glacia stated "thank you so much for coming to Warfang for my wedding!"
"We wouldn't miss this for the world!" Her mother replied. "Now where is my soon to be son in law?"
"He is right here." Glacia answered as she walked back next to Murghus. "Mom, dad, this is my mate, Murghus. Murghus, these are my parents, Icena and Ledus."
"It's a pleasure to meet you two." Murghus said with a bow.
"The pleasure's all ours!" Ledus replied. "We're just happy to finally meet our daughter's mate!"
"When we got word of your wedding your father almost froze over the entire city!" Icena told them.
Everyone gave a laugh before Ledus could reply with anything. "Then I better warn all of Warfang once I tell you the next announcement we have." Glacia said after calming down.
"And what might that be dear?" Icena asked.
Glacia looked at Murghus with a smile before saying "I'm pregnant!"
The happy expression's on her parent's faces changed to a look of shock instantly. Everyone could tell they were speechless by the way their mouths were gapped open. After about a minute Icena finally asked "you… you are?"
Glacia nodded, then stated "I had our doctor dragon examine me and she says I am."
Her father then changed his look back to a smile and said "that's wonderful news! I guess this means we will have to stay in Warfang for a little bit longer to see our new grandchild!"
"Speaking of which, father, I have someone to show you." Glacier added. He quickly ran back inside of his house and returned with Eirlys next to him. "Father, Eirlys has returned!"
"Eirlys!" both of the grandparents shouted before hugging her tightly.
Gasping for air Eirlys stated "I missed you guys too!"
They finally let go and Icena asked "where have you been? We were devastated to hear about your disappearance!"
"It's such a long story that I have told way too much today. So to put it in a nutshell I found a new place to live and decided to live there for awhile."
"What? Why would you do that?!" Ledus asked.
"She will explain later, but right now she needs to go back to bed. I accidentally woke her up when I rushed in to get her." Glacier interrupted.
"Alright, welcome home Eirlys." Icena said with a kiss to her forehead.
"Thanks grandma." Eirlys replied before giving off a yawn and returning into their home.
Once she was gone Icena stated "I have missed seeing her so much! I am overjoyed about her return!"
"As are we." Statica said with a nod. "It was quite a surprise when Glacia brought her back from Pyry."
"Pyry? What were you doing in Pyry?" Ledus asked.
"Guardian business. And it's where I met Murghus." Glacia answered with a quick nuzzle to Murghus' cheek.
Murghus smiled and added "I am the second in command of the guard to the great Queen Krystal. I met your daughter while escorting her to the queen. After the quick meeting I was given the honor of escorting her around the rest of the city. It wasn't until I was sent here by the queen that I admitted my feelings for her."
"Wow, that's romantic!" Statica said with a sigh.

After nodding in agreement Ledus announced "now then, we best get everything ready for tomorrow! Glacia, you go on home, Murghus will be coming with us."
"What? Why?" Glacia asked.
"It is tradition for mates to sleep in different houses the night before their wedding." her mother answered.
"But Glacier and Statica…"
"Uh, we did what we were told to! Statica stayed at another house that night!" Glacier quickly interrupted.
Everyone gave a confused look towards Glacier, which he tried to avoid by looking around the block. Statica avoided any chance of catching their eye by "examining a flower". "Alright, I shall obey your wishes, but Murghus can go to our home, I will go with you guys."
"Splendid idea! Now we can hear more of what has happened in your life these last few years!" her mother stated. "We will give you guys a moment alone before we lead you to our place given to us by Flame."
She led her mate around the corner and out of sight while Glacier and Statica went inside of their house to allow a moment alone for the young couple. "What was it that Glacier was hiding?" Murghus asked.
"Just the secret that he snuck out and spent the night before their wedding with Statica." she answered.
"Oh… oh! I see now." Murghus said after realizing what she meant.
"Yeah, it wasn't pretty when I walked in on them. Still having nightmares." she added with a shudder, making Murghus chuckle.
"Well, I guess you should get going. Your parents are waiting for you."
"Yeah, the last night that I will ever spend alone." Glacia stated with a smile.
Murghus smiled back and drew her into a passionate kiss. After several minutes they broke off and he said "good night my love, I'll see you again on our wedding day."
"I look forward to the next time I get to hold you in my arms again." Glacia stated, her eyes fixated to his.
With one last kiss Glacia turned and walked to the corner that her parents had just gone by. Before disappearing behind the house Glacia looked back at Murghus and mouthed the words "I love you". After he replied with the same she continued walking and disappeared from view.
With the sun now completely gone Murghus turned to walk down the other street and towards his and Glacia's home.

When the moon was reaching it's highest point in the sky Alexis finally reached her destination, the blizzard defenses of Pyry. She knew all to well that if any earth dragon were to attempt to pass through this blizzard they would become lost and eventually would die from the cold. But, being an ice dragon, she could easily navigate her way through the storm and not be affected at all by the powerful wind or snow. She never learned how the blizzard only worked in this certain area, but all she knew was that it did and it was there.
She looked at the crystal that hung off of her neck and remembered what Silas had told her before she left Volos. "To activate simply place it in the ground and shoot your ice breath at it. From there it will be able to detect your soul and declare you its master."
Alexis looked back at the blizzard in front of her and said to herself "maybe summoning it a bit closer to the city would be best."
She flew into the storm and easily found her way to the other side. Now, with Pyry only several miles away, she flew to the ground and took the crystal off of her neck. She looked at it one last time then at Pyry, then stated "This is for your betrayal, Murghus!"
She forced the crystal into the ground and saw it lightly glow with a blue light. She did not waste any time on shooting her ice breath at the crystal, making it glow much brighter and shake violently. She stopped using her ice breath and backed away from the crystal as it began to grow bigger. She watched in amazement as the crystal began growing more and more crystals, creating limbs. She continued to back away as the Golem began to reach it's true size. It wasn't until it had finished growing that Alexis could stop and get a better look at it.
The original crystal formed the body of the creature with other ice crystals used for the arms and legs. It's head was shaped just like the picture of the earth golem she saw, but this one had many big and sharp icicles hanging out of its mouth as teeth. The golem lowered down and glared at her with it's blue eyes looking into hers. After she realized that it was awaiting orders she pointed at Pyry and ordered "destroy it!"

Without warning the dungeon door flew open, bringing forth blinding light into Adrian's eyes. He rubbed them and sat up to see who it was that opened it. "What is it you want, Silas?" he asked with a scornful look on his face.
"How rude of you to call me that! After all, I am still your king." the ancient earth dragon replied.
"A false one too! I know what you did to take that title! Your sister…"
"Is no longer the queen! She died of an illness many years ago! And so, being the only heir left I took over and have done wonders to our kingdom!"
"You only brought war to this planet! You are no king! You, are a disgrace to all dragons!"
Silas huffed a bit before saying "well, if that's how you view me then I guess I will change my mind about you. I was going to let you live but now that you have shown me your true feelings, well, I guess I have no choice. I do pity you though, for wanting to be weak."
Adrian spat at the king as best he could from the lack of water, hitting him in the cheek. "You can keep your pity! I do not need such from an evil dictator!"
The king merely wiped off the spit and continued to say "you know of Demetrius, right? Well, I've heard he's exceptionally well with executions. He can make them as quick and painless as he likes, or, he can make them slow and unbearable. The decision of which one you shall receive, I shall leave to my great grandson." He stepped away and in walked a young green dragon. "Stone here will be keeping an eye on you, and when Demetrius arrives he will tell me which one you deserve."
Adrian only looked away at the wall and stated "so be it."
Silas chuckled before leaving the room, leaving Stone to keep a close eye on him as he sank away to the darkest corner and began to cry quietly. "…Krystal…"

Demetrius crept through his apprentice's castle and only stopped when he arrived at Phoenus' room. He opened the door and walked in to see his new apprentice fast asleep, just how he had expected to find him. He approached the red dragon and shook his shoulder, whispering "Phoenus, wake up."
Phoenus rolled over and mumbled "five more minutes…"
"I don't think so young one. We must leave immediately if we are to make it in time!"
Phoenus rose his head with interest. "What are we going to?" he asked.
"I had a vision in my sleep about my father's old mentor, Drakath, finding a way back from the realm of the dead, tonight!" He answered. "I know he was calling me for a reason, and we need to go there now!"
"As you wish master." Phoenus mumbled as he rolled out of bed and walked to the window with Demetrius. "What about Leonidus?"
"I have told him about it, and he shall be waiting here for our return. As soon as we get back though we are returning to my castle to continue your training."
Phoenus nodded in reply and spread out his wings and jumped out of the window with Demetrius and followed him to their destination.

With the moon still high up in the night sky a cloaked figure walked through the streets of Warfang, carefully navigating through the sleeping city with ease. He made sure he avoided being spotted by any of the guards patrolling the streets, only stopping after he arrived at a blackened out house. He knocked on the door several times and waited, After a few minutes the door opened up to see a half awake purple dragon answer the door. "H… hello?" he asked while rubbing his eyes.
The visitor threw off his hood and showed his cheetah face. "Hello my old friend." he said.

The Long Awaited Wedding

"Hunter? What are you doing here this late?" Spyro asked the unexpected guest.
"I have just arrived in Warfang and am in dire need to talk to you." he replied.
"Okay, come in then." Spyro said as he led Hunter inside his house and into the living room, where he lit a lamp that sat on their table.
Once they were both seated Hunter said "I assume Katrina has told you of all that has happened to our village, and to Chief Prowles."
"She has, I am sorry for your loss." Spyro answered with his head bowed. "He was a good leader."
"A great one! He did his duty to protect the lives of everyone in our village as best as he could! Which is why I could not let his death go in vain. Once the dragon left I ordered Katrina to lead everyone that survived to Warfang with Slash while I went off to learn more about our attacker. There is only one that I know of that could inform me of this dragon, the hermit.
"I found him and asked him if he knew anything about it, his reply was exactly what I hoped for. He told me that he had foreseen this attack long ago, and knew the amount of lives that we lost."
"Then why didn't he warn any of you about it? Why let the events happen?"
"I asked him that same thing, but he only said that it would have happened with or without the warning. But thankfully, he knew much about the dragon. His name is Dante, a dragon gifted with the power of darkness, and a powerful one at that from what I have seen. He was able to combine his fire breath with the darkness to make it much more destructive.
"The hermit also told me something that you must hear immediately. Something that can lead to the end of life as we know it."
"What could that possibly be?" Spyro asked.
Hunter took a deep breath before continuing with "he told me that Demetrius is planning something big, and that it will include your son, Phoenus."
"I would think so, after all Demetrius has a hold of him."
"That's what I've heard, I am sorry."
"It's alright Hunter. Now, what does Demetrius have planned?"
"Right, the hermit told me everything in riddles, so I will do my best to tell you what I think he meant. He first told me that 'the father's influence on his son cannot be undone.' There I figured he meant all that Malefor has taught Demetrius. Then he said 'with the power of ten, the world will feel fear again.' And that can only mean…"
"The return of Malefor!" Spyro gasped.
Hunter nodded, and added "then he finished off with 'one must stand tall, or the world shall fall.'" Hunter paused for a minute to allow Spyro to take that all in before saying "I think we both know what he meant by that last part."
Spyro nodded, then stated "I do, and I can't do it."
Hunter nearly fell over when Spyro said that. "What do you mean? The prophecy…"
"I know! But Demetrius knows my weakness and will use it! I cannot hurt my son, my heart wont allow it." he answered.
"I am aware of that, but you have no choice my friend! You must stop this uprising any way you can! You must go and fight them now!"
Spyro got up and walked towards a window and looked up to the nearly full moon. He thought about all that has happened and of what his Gravel had said earlier that day. He inhaled deeply before saying "I cannot fight my son, I love him to much to bring any harm to him. I don't care what you say, but as long as Phoenus is with Demetrius I will not search for him."
Hunter stared at his friend in disbelief. "Your duties as the worlds purple dragon are calling you to stop this evil from uprising and you are just going to let Demetrius start raining hell across the land?!"
"I will stop whatever Demetrius has planned! I will make sure of it! But when he's using my son as a shield…"
"The easiest way to stop him would be to do it now, when he is still at the beginning of the process! I can understand why you won't but Phoenus has made his choice and must suffer the consequences!"
"I don't believe he's gone. He's still good, just lost."
"Well he's not the only one!" Hunter mumbled under his breath.
"What was that?!" Spyro snapped.
"You heard me! You have clearly lost your sense of duty to this world! You won't take action when you have the opportunity!"
"Would you do it if it were your own child? Would you fight Katrina to save the world?"
"I would do what is necessary. I may not like it but the world comes before my selfish needs!"
"Well I'm sorry then Hunter, I guess my heart is not as strong as yours!"
Before Hunter could reply with anything they both heard the door open as Cynder walked in with her eyes half shut. "What's going on out here? Hunter? When did you get here?" she asked.
"I was just wanting to stop by to talk, but I guess I will be leaving now." he replied, making his way to the door.
Once the door slammed shut Cynder looked at her mate with confusion. "Spyro, what was that about?"
He shook his head in reply and said "nothing you need to worry about, just go back to bed."
"Come on, I know something happened and I want to know."
Her mate sighed and said "Hunter was telling me to go and fight Demetrius to stop whatever he has planned, but with Phoenus working for him…"
"You can't do it?" She finished. After he nodded she wrapped her wing around him and brought him into a hug. "He does not understand the pain you have gone through, what you still are going through. You love Phoenus too much to see him hurt, any parent knows that feeling. But now Phoenus is not with us, and until he returns to us there's nothing we can do other than raise our next child as best we can."
He looked into her eyes and gave a weak smile and a kiss. "You're right, we must focus on what we have left. When the time is right our family will be whole again."
She smiled back at him and kissed him again. "I love you Spyro, don't ever forget that."
"Never have, never will."
With another smile and a kiss the couple returned to their room again and curled up around their dark blue egg.

RotI ch. 43 pt. 2

The sun rose to reveal another clear day in the city of Warfang, the perfect day to do anything outside, including a wedding. Murghus eagerly woke up and prepared for the biggest day of his life. Not even five minutes after he had woken up he heard someone knocking at the door. He opened it and saw Glacier with Gravel and Spyro waiting outside. "Glacier? What brings you here?" he asked.
"My parents have told me to come and help you prepare for your big day since you don't have a family of your own." he answered.
"Thank you very much Glacier! I don't even know anything about weddings!"
"That is why I have brought Gravel and Spyro. All three of us have gone through this before so we shall pass our knowledge onto you."
"Starting with the appropriate armor." Spyro stated, revealing the box they had brought.
Murghus nodded and allowed them to enter the house. Once everyone was in Spyro opened the box to reveal golden armor sitting inside. "These were ours for our weddings. We didn't know which ones would fit best so we brought all that we could." Gravel told him.
Murghus picked up the first helmet he could find and examined it before trying it on, only to find out that it was too narrow for him. "Ah, that must be mine. You've got quite a bigger head than I do." Glacier said with a chuckle.
Murghus chuckled and placed the helmet on the table next to them. They went through each piece of armor until they found the best ones for him to wear. Once he had them all put on he examined himself in a mirror. "I sure hope Glacia likes this." he said to himself.
After they figured out the armor situation Gravel described to Murghus what was going to happen at the wedding. Once he had finished they led him out to the gardens, where Flame was leading the preparations for the wedding. Once Murghus approached him he said "hello Murghus. What do you think of your wedding place?"
"It's better than I could of ever imagined! I am sure Glacia will enjoy it as well!" he replied.
"She better, for this was all made from her list of what she wanted done."
Murghus chuckled and looked around at all of the busy dragons and moles, each with their own job to do. He walked around and examined everything being done when he felt someone glaring at him from behind. He turned and saw a dragon looking in through an alleyway, staring directly at Murghus. He decided to go and meet his observer but was stopped when he almost ran into a group of dragons carrying a heavy statue. Once they had moved Murghus looked back at where the dragon was standing, but couldn't find him anywhere. After looking around for him for a minute he decided to forget about it and went back to watching the preparations for his wedding.
Around midday the final preparations were finished and the special guests began to enter the gardens, where they were greeted by Glacia's parents and brother. They all made their way to an open spot inside the garden. Murghus, wearing the armor that Gravel had given him, sat inside the gazebo with Flame, watching the guests enter. As each seat was filled Murghus became more and more anxious. The thought of him and Glacia being together calmed him down though, as well as the thought of their egg growing inside of Glacia. All of the things that he never thought would happen are now finally coming true within the hour.
Once everyone was seated Flame gave a nod to Ledus, whom nodded in reply and walked into the building. The crowd silenced themselves as Glacier and Icena walked out of the building and towards the gazebo. Murghus took a deep breath as he realized that his wedding had finally begun.
Back in the building Glacia was looking out of the closest window to the gardens and smiled at the sight of Murghus in the golden armor. She had to repeatedly remind herself that she was no longer dreaming, it was all really happening. Ledus walked up to her and asked "are you ready Glacia?"
She looked at him and nodded in reply. She walked next to him and asked "dad, were you nervous on your wedding day?"
He chuckled before replying "yes, I was more nervous than any battle I had gone into before then, but I kept telling myself that I was getting married to the greatest dragoness in the world, the one that I will care for with all of my heart for the rest of my life. Aside from your birth and hatch day, it was the best day of my life, and I will never forget it."
Glacia smiled at her father's words and a single tear of joy streaked down her cheek. She wiped it away and said "thank you daddy, for everything you have done in my life."
Ledus' smile widened as they embraced each other, doing his best not to cry in front of her. "I am so proud of you Glacia! You have become the ice guardian and have now finally found a loving mate! The goals you have set for yourself have been reached!" He stated. After they both backed away he said "let's go, your brother has escorted Statica to the gazebo, it's your turn now."

RotI ch. 43 pt. 3

With a deep breath and a nod Glacia followed her father out of the building and underneath the archway that led to the garden. All of the guests had stood up and watched as the bride made her way down the aisle. She looked at all of the guests that were there from Spyro and Cynder to Gravel and Maka, every one of her friends had made it to this, making her all the more nervous. But when she looked up at their destination, the gazebo where Murghus stood waiting, she felt relaxed again, as if all the worries of the world had disappeared from her thoughts. She felt the happiness he had given to her and felt the comfort of his presence, but most important of all, his everlasting for her, and hers for him.
After what seemed like hours she finally arrived at the gazebo. Before walking up to Murghus she gave her father one last hug and a kiss on his right cheek. Once he was seated next to Icena the soon to be newly weds turned to Flame with Murghus' paw over Glacia's. Flame cleared his throat before saying "welcome everyone, and thank you for coming to witness these two begin the biggest commitment they will ever make. The long awaited joining of our Ice Guardian Glacia to the captain of Pyry Murghus!
"It is a wondrous thing, what love can do even in such a short time of knowing each other. In just three days they have admitted their true feelings for each other, leading up to their union here today. With very little knowledge on who they are they have let their hearts take over to reveal their soul mate. I have only seen their kind of love in a few dragons in my life time, and what a marvelous site it is!
"Let us begin with the vows." Murghus and Glacia turned to look at each other with Murghus taking Glacia's paw in his. "Murghus, please repeat after me. I Murghus…"
"I Murghus…"
"take Glacia…"
"take Glacia…"
"to be my mate…"
"to be my mate…"
"to love and to cherish…"
"to love and to cherish…"
"in sickness and in health…"
"in sickness and in health…"
"until death do we part."
"until death do we part." Murghus finished, his eyes fixated upon hers.
Glacia couldn't help but smile as he said all those things, as well as everyone in the crowd. Flame turned to Glacia and said "your turn Glacia. I Glacia…
She took a deep breath before repeating "I Glacia…"
"take Murghus…"
"take Murghus…"
"to be my mate…"
"to be my mate…"
"to love and cherish…"
"to love and cherish…"
"in sickness and in health…"
"in sickness and in health…"
"until death do we part…"
"until death do we part."
A smile was spread across everyone's faces as those words were said as well as tears falling from Icena's eyes. "With the vows exchanged and no objection's heard then by the power invested in me by the ancestors I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss your mate." Flame announced.
The new couple took each other's cheek in their left paw before bringing their muzzles into a passionate kiss to seal off the marriage. The crowd stood up and cheered as they witnessed the union of the ice dragons. Once they released from the kiss they embraced each other in a very passionate hug. They then made their way down the steps and walked through the aisle, handing out many thanks to the dragons that had witnessed their union. After they had walked out of the garden Glacier and Statica followed in their steps, then everyone else left as well.
All of the guests gathered around the couple outside the gardens to watch as they went off to their honeymoon. Murghus lifted Glacia off of her legs and carried her as he flew them south, towards the beach.

The door opened again to allow Stone to walk back in from his break, letting the other earth dragon to leave. Once he was gone Stone sat back down in front of the cell and looked at the worn out dragon sitting inside. He slid the small plate of frozen food he was told to give to him under the bar only to see him not even acknowledge it. "Why don't you eat? You're almost dead anyways, why make yourself suffer more?" Stone asked.
"I have failed the one I love most, I deserve the most amount of suffering I can get." Adrian replied.
Stone looked at him curiously, then asked "so? You let her down, big deal! You still have a good chance of surviving if you just apologize!"
Adrian stood up and walked towards Stone before sitting down again. "Tell me Stone, do you love someone?"
"Yes, I love someone very much."
"Then imagine this, you go off to battle and she ends up dying from your mistake, because you failed her, how would you feel?"
The young dragon went to his thoughts and imagined the scenario described to him. The battle was raging around him and Tallen stood by his side as they took on the dragons of Warfang as well as the moles and cheetah's. He had just finished off an ice dragon when he heard a scream behind him. He looked back and saw Tallen being struck down by several cheetah warrior's.
"NO!" he shouted as he came back to reality, his tears making the ground beneath him wet.
"Now you see the pain I am in, my mate is going to be killed by that golem your great grandfather is sending to Pyry. I have nothing to look forward to in life." Adrian stated before going back to his corner and lying back down.
Stone just sat in the same spot for what seemed like hours, the image of Tallen dying still in his head.

RotI ch. 44 pt. 1

Master Drakath

Murghus and Glacia spent the next few days in cave on the beach, enjoying each others company on their private beach. On the third day though they both knew that they were both needed back in Warfang, Glacia for her guardian business and Murghus for watching over the prince. After watching one last sunset they flew back to the city and made their way to their home. With a kiss goodnight they both fell asleep with Murghus curled up around her.
The next day Murghus went into the market and bought the best meat he could find and brought it home to cook for his still sleeping mate. Once it was prepared he brought in the meal to her, the smell waking her up quickly.
"Good morning my love." He said as he placed her breakfast next to her.
She smilled at him before saying "a wonderful morning indeed! This smells delicious!"
"I only make the best for you." he told her with a lick to her cheek.
Her smile stayed on her muzzle as she began to eat. Halfway through she stopped and looked up at her mate and said "this is very good! Probably the best I have ever tasted!"
"Thank you, I have practiced my cooking in Pyry for the queen. It took awhile for me to get it good enough for her to eat though, for Malaxius wouldn't allow it to be served to her until she thought it tasted good enough."
"Interesting. Speaking of which, when will you be going back to Pyry to deliver the treaty?"
"I was wanting to wait until you have laid the egg. I really do not want to miss a wonderful moment like that!" he answered.
"Great! I was hoping you would say that!"
Before anything else could be said they both heard a knoc coming from the front door. They both went to see who it was and saw a yellow dragon wearing a black mask standing there. "Wasp? What brings you here?" Murghus asked.
"The guardians sent me to retrieve you! You are both needed at the chamber immediately!" He answered.
"Why? What is it?" Glacia asked worriedly.
"You shall see when we get there! We must go now!" Wasp replied.
They followed him to the council chamber, seeing many ice dragons grouped around it. Murghus recognized several of them as they passed by. "Oh no! This can't be good!" he exclaimed.
"What's wrong Murghus?" Glacia asked.
"These are the inhabitants of Pyry!" he answered.
She gasped and looked among the crowd and saw some dragons she recognized as well. "What are they all doing here?" she asked.
"I don't know, but it can't be good by the looks on their faces." Wasp replied.
They both looked at the ice dragons and saw the amount of sorrow on each of their faces. They looked at each other with worried faces as they entered the council chamber. There they saw the other three guardians with Spyro and Cynder talking to an ice dragoness. "Your majesty!" Murghus exclaimed.
The queen looked over at him with a sad look. "Murghus! It's awful, just awful!"
"What happened? Why are you all here?" Glacia asked.
"We were attacked in the middle of the night by some sort of creature! It was gigantic! It broke through our wall with just one swipe of its hand! Our guards stood no chance against it!" she told them, the memory of the attack still haunting her mind.
"What kind of creature culd do such a thing like that?" Murghus asked.
"Queen Krystal has described it to us and we have learned that it was none other thanan ice golem." Flame answered.
"An ice golem? I remember hearing about the earth golem long ago but I thought only Malefor could awaken them!" Glacia stated.
"Or so we thought. It seems that there is another with the power to bring out the golems of the deep." Statica told them.
"Demetrius." Spyro stated.
"But why would Demetrius attack us? He would have no reason behind it!" Krystal asked.
"Demetrius is difficult to predict. He would always do things that no one would expect him to." Cynder told them.
For a moment everyone was silent while Krystal began to think of why the golem attacked them. "Actually, I don't think it was Demetrius that sent it to Pyry. I think the earth kingdom did." she announced.
"The earth kingdom? How could they have summoned that beast?" Gravel asked.
"I don't know, but one of their dragons came to Pyry and warned me about a powerful weapon they had. The dragon actually wanted to help us, so I sent my maid Alexis with him back to Volos to…"
"… to do what?" Murghus asked after she didn't say anything else.
Krystal just stared at the floor in disbelief. "No, she couldn't have!" she said to herself.
"What is it?" Flame asked.
"Alexis was supposed to make the earth king believe we had joined them to stop them from using their weapon, I believe that she has betrayed us!"
Murghus and Glacia gasped in disbelief. "Why would she do such a thing?" Glacia asked.
"I am not sure, she was such a loyal servant."
Murghus cleared his throat before announcing "I think I know why. Right before I left I told her that I was in love with Glacia, and she didn't seem to take the news too well."
'So that's what he told her!' Glacia thought to herself before saying "she did seem to really be in love with you, it might have driven her to do this act."
Murghus nodded before Krystal said "be that as it may she still commited a horrible act and will be punished!"
"Don't worry, we'll help you deal with this problem." Flame assured her.
"Thank you fire guardian, your help will be needed most of all against that creature, none of our attacks could so much as scratch it."

RotI ch. 44 pt. 2

"That will be most difficult." A voice announced from the door. All eyes turned to see the former guardian of ice, Cyril, standing in the entrance with a book in his paw. "I have done my research and it appears that the ice golem can only survive in ice cold temperatures. Back when it was first awoken it is rumored that Nukpana used it against Warfang during the harsh cold winter season. I do not believe it will be leaving Pyry anytime soon with the beginning of spring just a couple of weeks ago."
"So that means that we cannot get our fire dragons to it!" Gravel stated with a growl.
"That is correct, but there is a way to bring fire to the city of ice." Cyril continued. "Only those that can control the element of ice may pass through the blizzard. Now if a dragon were able to wield both elements, then we may be able to take it down!"
When he was finished everyone turned their eyes to the only one they knew that could breath fire and ice, Spyro. "I guess that means I have to fight this thing alone." he stated.
"Not necessarily." Murghus stated. "I can accompany you to Pyry and help you in any way I possibly can."
Glacia gave a worried look but before she could protest Spyro said "thank you Murghus, your assistance is much appreciated."
"Mom?" a voice came from behind Cyril. He looked down and saw a young ice dragon standing there. "Mother! You're here!" he shouted as he ran up to her.
When he got to her she hugged him tightly. "Oh my son, how I have missed you so much!" she said during their embrace.
After a moment of hugging her he let go and said "Malaxius told me what had happened outside, I am happy to see you safe, but I am sorry about Brohn."
"What do you mean? What happened to Brohn?" Murghus asked.
The queen took a deep breath before answering with "he was eaten by the golem."
Murghus' eyes widened with shock at the news. "No… he can't be! He can't be dead!" he stated in disbelief.
"I am sorry Murghus, I know you two were close friends." Tundra said with a gentle hug to his leg.
Murghus was shaking with rage. It was one thing to attack his city, but to take the life of his closest friend and mentor was unforgivable! "I shall rip that golems arms off!" he stated with a low growl.
Glacia now looked at her mate in fear and backed away a couple of feet. Spyro saw her reaction and touched Murghus' shoulder, getting his attention. "We shall deal with the golem in time. Right now I recommend you go home and make the necessary preperations, we will be gone for awhile." he told him.
Murghus nodded as he calmed down a bit before turning and exiting the room. Once he was gone Glacia began to follow but instead turned and went to Spyro, saying "keep my mate safe in your battle, I beg of you! I do not want my child to be born without its father to see it!"
"I will bring him home, I promise." he replied.
Glacia looked into his eyes to see the seriousness he had and nodded before turning again and walking out.
She followed Murghus to their home and watched him as he went through his stuff, picking out his strongest pieces of armor and putting them on. When he was finished he turned to walk out the door but she shouted "Murghus!"
He finally came out of his trance and looked at Glacia, seeing that she was crying and looking at him in fear. He rushed back to her and hugged her tightly, saying "Glacia, I'm sorry! I shouldn't have ignored you like I did!"
She hugged him back, her tears falling onto his armor. "It's alright, I'm more scared for your safety!"
With his tears pouring out of his eyes as well he said "I promise you my love, I will return safely. I won't let one giant creature get in the way of missing my own child's birth!"
Glacia couldn't help but laugh a bit at his words. She looked into his eyes, with hers clearing out, and said "just please be careful, and hurry home! I will hold off on it as long as I can, but when it comes there's no stopping it."
Murghus smiled and cleared her last tear with his claw, then said very soothingly "I will, I promise."
They brought their muzzles into a passionate kiss that lasted several minutes before they both heard a knock on the door. Murghus answered it to see Spyro standing outside with his golden armor on him. "Are you ready Murghus?" he asked.
The ice guard nodded in reply. "Let's go."
Spyro nodded back and walked into the streets and waited for Murghus, whom looked back at his mate one last time before saying "I love you, so much."
"I love you too." she replied.
He gave her a quick kiss then walked out to Spyro. When he nodded that he was ready they both flapped their mighty wings and flew east to Pyry.
