I've never been a mod before, but I've applied about 17 times in 10 different forums I was a part of. All of them ended in rejection, which sucks when you work so hard to practice moderation and to make a good application only to find out that someone gets chosen over you, and you find out later that they do a lousy job at it. As of now, I'm only a part of 2 other forums outside of darkSpyro. One of them has no need for mods since they have 5, and the other is dead for the most part. darkSpyro is my best shot at being a mod, and considering how I racked up 1890 posts in the one month I've been here, and the friends I've gotten, it would be a huge honor if I was chosen if dark52 ever did hire mods, and I doubt anybody outside of Blackholes_Wolf would mind. Yeah I know it says I've been here since April of last year, but I didn't become active until December.

Somtimes they did, and I would think "Am I a part of this collection of people she's yelling at?". smilie But I've gotten used to it. It takes about a month for me to learn about a person. Seeing how I've been stalking your dA account since August, you can do the math. smilie

It's good to see some people in this fandom aren't posting about all of the Spyro pairings for once. Almost every other topic in this forum has something to do with... *cough*
Me? A mod? No, I don't think so, everybody is causing trouble whenever I'm off, and I honestly don't feel up for it. I just wish that dark would at least temporarily hire one. The only mod here is one of his alts. smilie Though, if I were chosen to be a mod, I'd put more effort into visiting.
Friends, a lot of people are on my list, but many of them I only talk to on the forums... A lot left or are inactive... smilie And most of them are on the other side of the world, so I only get to talk to them half an hour at most whenever I do see them.

Yeah, I do unfortunately tend to use general terms when I am yelling at specific people. smilie As regards modding, you really aren't missing out. I just got handed the job out of nowhere and it was pretty thankless. In the end, it was at least half of why I left that particular forum.

I haven't seen much talk about pairings other than........the topic. You know which one I'm talking about. And for the most part it's dead and gone. Shame, because it was funny as all hell.

Exactly. The closest thing to a mod other than him is an account that only he can use, and he hasn't used it in ages. He needs to hire mods. Even if it is just one.

The only friend on my list that left is SuperSpyroFan. And it's a shame. He said he wishes he was dead when he left. I really hope he didn't keep his word on that claim...

And I hope Super's doing alright- why exactly did he leave DsarkSpyro, anyway? smilie

Super was questioning why he was here, and he was going off on a tangent about how he wishes he was dead.

Bah, don't fret on it. I do the same very often. If someone doesn't think that they are part of it and speaks to me about it, I consider them one of the few exceptions.

Yes but I still want to mod. I figure it'd be a cool job.

Honestly now, I don't think dark52 wants to avoid mods because he thinks he can handle the site himself. Something tells me he doesn't want to have to pay mods for their work, since I know a good share of sites that do that. He shouldn't worry about it, since it's not neccessary to do that. I know several people that were (or still are) mods and they did it because they wanted to. I don't care if I don't get paid (even though I need a job), I just want to be a moderator.

I'm not sure where you guys get the idea that forum mods are paid because they aren't. Like running the forum itself, a mod position is volunteer work.
Stormy Gold Sparx Gems: 2624
#175 Posted: 17:58:39 19/02/2011
There are some paid moderators, but on most sites the job is voluntary. I'm a mod on a site because I was friends with the admin (the only reason I still have the position is probably because he doesn't care much about the site anymore), and I basically considered all the work I did there to be for him. I was surprised when I found out there were paid forum moderators.

But yeah, there have been no moderators on this site since its beginning, and I doubt that's going to change any time soon. It would certainly be nice, though. The Spyro sections of this site aren't bad at all, but once you get into the general sections there are suddenly tons of trolls and people who want to argue about everything. It's sad because this would be a really nice place if there was just a little more order.

Oh, in regards to the topic!

Pfft, I'm not sure how to put it. Sometimes the people I know seem to not like me being interested in games at all, or even anything animated. They seem to automatically assume Spyro is a kids game. Maybe I should show them Conker's Bad Fur Day, and then tell them Spyro is like that!smilie

^Well, it can't be that bad.

I know 40 year old men who still play Mario loyally. There is nothing wrong with playing a game you love, no matter what age is was meant for... if someone questions why... just say "Taking a trip down Memory Lane" or whatever. I still play The Lion King for the SNES and I'm freaking 17-going-on-18 years old.

And as for Super, he might come back. Who knows? Maybe when things finally start going right for him he'll come back...at least I hope so. He added a unique touch of humor to the site that nobody else can pull off. So what if we don't know him? Like, I think it was Darby who said so, I did enjoy his company on this site.

Well, games like Mario, Spyro, and Kirby are rated E for Everyone. It's not like you have to stop playing them once you hit age 13 when they are E for Everyone.

I have a Dead Space Obsession, Resident Evil Obsession, Splatterhouse Obsession, but no Spyro obsession.
I just like it as a Childhood memory, and so I play the games.

Same.

It was ok for someone to get blasted in the head in a game, but when I was watching Brothers and Toby's character nearly shot himself in the head, I almost crapped myself. Not really, but you get the idea.

And I can't sit through a Saw film, but I can play the game without any sort of problem. Then again, I was never given the chance to watch Saw...
