just as Solomon and Slytherin were helping Inferno escape the Emerald Depths, a deep green portal opened up in front of them.
"what's going on?" Inferno asked.
"we're getting visitors, quick, hide!" Sol croaked, jumping behind a rock. Slytherin climbed up a tree, and hid amongst the leaves. Inferno ran into some bushes. then Totem stepped through the portal with the other sentinels behind him.
"ok. you heard the queen, find those ingridents" Totem said. then the sentinels walked off in diffrent directions. once they had walked away, Inferno came out of hiding.
"what are you doing? get back in those bushes!" Sol croaked quietly.
"i want to know what's going on" Inferno whispered.
"great, and while you're trying to find out, i'll be here, where it's safe!"
"suit yourself" Inferno whispered back. then he sneaked off to see what the sentinels were up to. Inferno hid from behind a bush as he watched one sentinel grab a yellow-green frog. he then saw another sentinel grab a lime green lizard. then another sentinel grabbed a deep green snake. then he watched another grab a big, black widow. then he watched as the four sentinels walked over to where the portal was. then Totem walked over to them.
"did you find everything?" he asked them. they each nodded as they held up what they had caught. "execelent. now, we can--wait a minute" he then sniffed the air. he snarled. "i believe we are not the only dragons here" he said. then Inferno gasped. "what was that?" Totem asked, as he walked towards the bushes.
"oh no!" Inferno thought. he was afraid they would find him. then suddenly, a load croak could be heard. Totem walked towards a rock, and looked around it. there he found Solomon, distracting him from Inferno.
"hm, it is only a frog. let's go" Totem said. then they walked through the portal.
"hurry! get inside before it closes!" Sol croaked. Inferno nodded. then he ran up to the portal, and jumped inside just as it was closing. Solomon and Slytherin looked at the spot where the portal once stood.
"do you think he'll be ok?" Sol asked.
"how should i know?" Slytherin hissed.

Goldheart's dad had teleported them outside a large, ancient temple on top of a tall mountain. Goldheart and his dad walked up to two large, golden double-doors.
"where are we?" Artica asked, looking around. the gold dragon opened the door, and then looked back at her.
"come inside, younge dragon, and we will tell you everything" he said.
"just trust us" Goldheart said, before walking inside. then his dad walked in. Artica walked in behind him. she looked around a large room, filled with many large gold dragons. the gold dragons all smiled, and happily greeted them. then a female gold dragon walked up to Goldheart's dad.
"you've returned" she said.
"hi, Mom!" Goldheart said, happily.
"welcome home, dear" she said to him. the female looked at Artica. "i see we have a guest"
"er, yes. this is Artica" Goldheart's father said.
"ah, an ice dragon"
"i'm much more than that!"
"i see. well, i am sure you all have some work to do, so i won't get in the way" she said.
"you are welcome to join us, Goldrune"
"no thank you, Goldscale, i think i will go to the library instead" she said.
"alright then" he said. then he kissed her on the cheek, and then walked off towards a long hallway. Goldheart and Artica followed him.
"now, what?" Artica asked.
"you will soon see" Goldscale said.

Styx stirred the ingridents already in the cauldron as he and Anyanca waited for the sentinels to return. then there was a knock at the door. Styx walked over, and opened the door. Totem walked in, with the others behind him.
"well?" Anyanca asked.
"we have them" Totem said, as the sentinels place the animals onto the table.
"excelent. now, Styx, get to work" she said.
"yes, your highness" he said, walking over to the cauldron. he picked up the snake, and took the scales off of it. then he picked up the lizard, and gouged out it's eyes. he then cut the tails off the scorpions, and took the venom out of the black widow, and put it into a vile. he then put everything into the cauldron, and stirred carefully until deep green smoke rose up from the cauldron.
"are you finished yet?" Anyanca asked, getting impatient.
"just about. i need one last thing"
"and what would that be?" she asked. Styx walked over to her. he held up a dagger, and a vile.
"your blood" he said. she took the dagger out of his hand.
"i will do it myself" she said. then she made a cut on her arm. Styx held the vile up to her arm, and waited for it to fill up with blood. once it was full, he walked over to the cauldron, and poured it in. then blood red smoke rose up from the cauldron.
"it is complete" he said.
"then what are you waiting for?" she asked. "get to work" he nodded. he then picked up a larger vile, dipped it into the cauldron, and filled it with the mixed ingridents. he then walked over to Flare. he grabbed her head, and held it steady as he poured the mixture down her throat. Flare nearly gagged as she swallowed it all. Styx set the vile down onto the table, and then raised his staff. the staff began to glow black, and then Flare glowed black.
"thgil si krad, dna krad si thgil. let tel this siht creature erutaerc lose esol its sti very yrev soul luos, causing gnisuac others srehto fright thgirf. thgil si krad, dna krad si thgil. tel eht ssenkrad nihtiw emocrevo siht erutaerc, gnikam ti a erutaerc fo eht thgin" Styx chanted. then a little white light came out of Flare, and then floated away. then Flare's sclaes turned jet black, and her eyes turned to a dark red, almost black. her tail-end began to change, and look more like a scorpion's tail, and changed to a blood red color. her horns grew longer, and changed to a blood red color. her claws grew longer, and darker. she now had blood red spikes from head to tail. her inside wings and belly changed to a blood red color. her wings got a little more bat-like, and the claws got longer and sharper. she glared at Anyanca with a look of evil.
"i am ready to serve you, my queen" she snarled. her voice was dark and twisted.

This is a interesting story Cynder09, im kinda new, but i have reading this since the beginning. eager to see what hapens next.

Goldscale walked into a small room, lite up by the sun shining through the many windows in the room. Goldheart and Artica walked in behind him. Artica looked around.
"there's nothing in here but that vision pool over there in the middle" she said.
"indeed. come child" he said, walking over to it. he sat down, and Goldheart sat down next to him. Artica sat down across from them. "now, look into the vision pool, and tell me what you see" he said. Artica looked inside, and saw herself at Anyanca's lair. she saw the moment where she was weak, and began to glow, and fought them off somehow. she still didn't understand what had happened then. "now, young one, what do you see?" he asked.
"i see.......the past....."
"go on"
"i see myself at that dragon's lair..."
"yes. proceed"
"i was weak......and somehow......i got strong.....and then......something wierd happened.....i....was able to escape....."
"indeed. now, tell me more"
"that's what i saw"
"i know, child, details please"
"oh. well......i see......myself glowing......then.....they started fighting each other......i felt stronger.....and was able to escape....."
"and do you know how came to glow like that?"
"um....no....."
"it is a power that you have"
"a power? what kind of power?"
"one very unique, unlike any other. it is more powerful than most other elements"
"it is?" she said, sounding a bit excited.
"indeed. you posses a great power, Artica, which is why i have brought you here"
"oh. uh, where is here exactly? and what power do i have?"
"patience, young one. all things will come in time. first, we must help the others who still remain at the dragon's lair"
"but what about my power?"
"patience, patience. i will you train you when the time comes"
"well, can't the time come sooner? like now?" she asked. he chuckled.
"my you certainly are impatient. however, you must learn to wait, and now is a good time to start"
"i'd have to disagree with you on that one"
"yes, well, other things are mroe important right now. so, now, we must find out more about this dragoness, and then take action"
"fine..." she moaned.

well, i'm glad you liked it so much. i'll write more Monday, unless i have a lot of hw. i'd write over the weekend, but my dad won't let me get on the computer.

hey i really like the last two chapters cynder, very good & good job on the details on flares transformation. but now im more interested in finding out what happens to flare & what artica will do when she sees her. that sounds bad i can just imagine her changing into her evil form. nice work.

ok, awesome.

the deep green portal had opened up right outside the dragoness's lair, and Inferno just jumped through it. he landed on the ground with a thud. he raised his head, and spit out some dirt. then he came face to face with a statue of a mean looking statue. Inferno was startled at first, and jumped back, yelling. he then looked at the statue, and realized he was safe. he breathed deeply, and looked around. he saw the mountain in front of him, and figured it was Anyanca's lair. he was hesistant to go inside, but he knew he had to save his friends. with a brave face on, he marched inside, ready to fight. he then heard a loud angry roar. he gulped as his brave face turned to a more nervous one. he walked through many long, dark corridoors, not knowing where they would lead him. every sound seemed louder in the corridoors, each one making him jump slightly. he looked around he heard the echoing sound of footsteps coming down the hall. he quickly looked for a place to hide for he did not want to be seen. he found a large dragon statue nearby, and quickly hid behind it. the footsteps grew louder as someone drew nearer. soon Inferno saw one of the setinels patroling through the halls. the sentinel stopped in front of the statue, and looked around, sniffing the air. Inferno stayed absolutely still, and as quiet as a mouse. the sentinel soon walked away, and the sound of footsteps grew distant. Inferno then slowly came out of hiding, and looked down the corridoor. he then took a few steps in the opposite direction. then he heard the sound of footsteps again. he quickly turned around to hide behind the statue once more, only the statue had dissappeared. confused, he walked over to where the stuate used to be, wondering where it had gone, and forgeting that someone was in the corridoor. then he felt a wet substance on his shoulder. he turned his head to see some siliva on his should. he grimaced, and then looked up to see where it had come from, only he did not like what he saw. standing directly over him was one of the sentinels, glaring at him, and snarling. he then ran from right under the sentinel, and began running at full speed down the corridoor. the sentinel growled, and chased after him. Inferno breathed deeply as he ran. he looked back momentarily to see the sentinel almost directly behind him. Inferno then began darting his head back and forth, looking for a place to hide. however, he now was not looking where he was going, and had run into something. the sentinel came to a qucik stop behind him. Inferno looked up to see he had run into yet another sentinel. he was now outnumbered. he then gasped as he quickly turned to run, but as he did, he saw the other sentinel. he was trapped. the sentinels growled as they inched closer. Inferno looked back and forth at the two sentinels as he wondered what to do. he then heard a female cry.
"Flare!" he thought. he came back here to save her, and now he finds himself in danger. he now knew what he had to do. he lowered his head, and then charged towards one of the sentinels. the sentinel looked surprised as Inferno charged towards him. then the sentinel jumped, and Inferno ran right under him. he raised his head as he ran faster to avoid them. the sentinels growled and then chased after him. he had to find a way to lose them. he looked ahead to see that the corridoor took a left turn, and before that there was a large crack in the wall. "if something hit it hard enough, it just might break" he thought. he quickly looked behind him to see that the sentinels were still on his trail. he knew his fire breath would not be enough to break the wall, but maybe the sentinels could break it. he ran faster as he neared the wall. the sentinels ran faster to keep up. "come on. that's it. keep coming. try to catch the little fire dragon" he thought. he then ran faster. the sentinels did the same to keep up. he was getting closer to the wall. he then hit full speed, and the sentinels did also. he then spread his wings, and right before reaching the wall, he jumped, and used his wings to glide around the corner. he then landed on the ground, and kept running. the sentinels did not know of his plan, and were running to fast to stop themselves. they then crashed through the wall. Inferno had looked back, and saw them crash through the wall. he then laughed as he slowed down to a walk. then he noticed a door at the end of the hall. he then sped up to a jog, and stopped when he reached the door. he looked back only for a moment before opening the door, and going inside.

Nice chapter, I liked it when inferno felt something wet on his shoulder and turned around to see, it was a sentinel. haha i'd freak out but try to kill him instead of running. I'm just eager to see what happens when and if inferno finds flare. wonder what he'll think of her then.

thanks. i was thinking of having them fight, but Inferno is young, and only a fire dragon. plus, he doesn't really know anything about the sentinels. it seemed best to avoid them, and fight later. besides, he wants to save Flare.

yeah i can tell but i'd like to see what his reaction towards flare is when he sees her.

well, wait no longer.

Inferno walked down yet another long corridoor. he was beginning to think this place was a maze. he then found another door. though, this one was larger than the other, and had a golden handle, with a keyhole. he tried opening the door, but it was locked tight. he then looked around, wondering where the key might be. he turned to walk back down the corridoor, but then tripped over something. he got up, and looked down at the floor to see he had tripped over a long, fancy looking, dark red rug. he then noticed that there was something under it. he lifted up the rug to find a secret door there. he then opened the large door, and saw a staircase leading down into darkness. he hesistated, and gulped before cautiously walking down into the darkness. the only sound was the sound of his footsteps as he walked down the stairs. it darker as he walked, and it was soon pitch black darkness. he then tripped over a step, and fell down the stairs. he hit the bottom with a thud, and then got up. trying to look around was pointless, because of how dark it was. he then opened his mouth, took a deep breath, and breathed fire to be able to see. he then found himself in a large place, which appeared to be the dungeoun. there were spider webs everywhere, and rats scurried around, looking for food. Inferno walked around, and soon found several cells, all of which appearing to be empty. he then stopped at one, noticing a large pile of bones inside. he gulped, and then found himself wondering not only what had died here, but what had caused the death. he then heard footsteps echoing throughout the place. he could not tell where they were coming from, but he knew he had to find a place to hide, and fast. he looked around, and only saw the bone pile. he moaned as he walked into the cell, and buried himself in the bones. he then waited for someone to show, hoping it was not a sentinel. he then saw a young dragoness walking around. her scales were jet black, and her eyes were dark red, almost black. her tail looked like that of a scorpion's, and was blood red. her horns were long, and a blood red color. her claws were long and dark, and she had blood red spikes from head to tail. her inside wings and belly were alos blood red, and her wings were more bat-like than most dragons, with the claws longer and sharper than most. Inferno gulped, guessing that this dragoness was evil, and probally worked for Anyanca. he hoped she would not find him. then the female turned her head, and glared at the bone pile, with a look of pure evil. Inferno gasped, knowing that the female knew of his presence. the female then began walking towards the bone pile, snarling. Inferno pushed the bones out of his way, and stood there, looking at the female. his instincts told him to run, but he did not. for some reason, he could not pull his eyes away from the female. she walked up to him, and looked into his eyes.
"Inferno" she hissed, in a dark, twisted voice. though the voice was quite diffrent from a normal dragon's, Inferno noticed something fimiliar about her.
"F--F--Flare......?" he asked. the female nodded her head.
"yes, Inferno, it is me" she cackled.
"i--i--i--i don't find this amusing....." he said. he was shocked, and afraid of what had happened to her. "....Flare, what did you do to you....?"
"they did what they had to do to make me like this"
"d--d--don't worry.....i--i'll fix it.....i'll get them to change you back......i'll get them to make you better....." she then clawed his face. he now had a cut under his right eye.
"you will do no such thing!" she hissed. "they made me what i am, and i have no intention of changing back!"
"and i have no intention of letting you stay this way.......i will make them change you back.....i promise you that....."
"oh, but i thought you htought i was beautiful" she said. he shoke his head.
"n--n--no......no......no......not like this.......not like......this.....monster that you are now......you were beautiful, Flare......when you were you....i don't what they did.....i don't know what magic they used.....but i promise you, Flare, i will fix this.....i came back here to save you.....and you may say it's too late.....and i may be a fool for believing this.....but it's not too late......all you've done is prove to me that i do need to save you.....and i will.....just tell me what they did to you...." he said. she then clawed his face again.
"fool! you can not change what has happened! i can not be saved! i was good before, but that was before they changed me.....before they made me what i am....and all they did.....was remove my soul...." she said. Inferno gasped, and backed away with a look of terror.
"t--t--t--they......they....."
"they removed my soul. they made some wierd potion, shoved it down my throat, and chanted a spell. and then.....my soul was gone....and i changed...and i'm not going back!" she growled.
"no......you are going back.....you have no choice in the matter.....i will find a way to get your soul back.....and i will save you......you can count on that......" he said. he then pushed her out of the way, as he ran past her.
"you'll never change me back, Inferno! i am evil now, and you have to face that fact! we will face each other again, and next time, we fight! and you, Inferno, will die!" she cackled. tears ran down Inferno's face as he ran away.

"well? are you seeing anything in that vision pool of yours?" Artica asked Goldscales as he looked into the vision pool. Goldheart sat quietly.
"yes, and i could continue to see more if i was not interupted" he said, looking back at the pool.
"you know what, maybe you should stay here, and do the whole boring research thing, and i can go do the heroic rescue followed by some but kicking" she said. Goldscale looked at her, appearing to be very irritable.
"listen, young dragon, it is not time to fight yet. and you are not ready to face Anyanca"
"yeah, yeah, yeah, i know all that. in fact, that's all you've said lately" Goldscale sighed.
"please, child, could you please refrain from talking while i try to concentrate"
"concentrate on what? your looking into a pool, how freaking long does that take?"
"depending on what one seeks, it can take quite some time"
"which is what i've been saying, we're wasting time! i could have saved Flare by now!"
"alright, i have had quite enough of your attitude. if you wish to go out there, and get yourself into trouble, then so be it. otherwise, i have no use of you here"
"fine. i'll leave. i'll go save the world, and you can stay here, and do.....whatever it is you do! i'm not even sure what the world needs you dragons for, because all you ever do is sit and waste time!" she said. then she rushed outside, and flew away.
"Dad, was that wise? just letting her go like that?"
"Goldheart, you know i must concentrate"
"i know, but can't we at least go after her"
"you mean, after everything i have thaught you, you would go after a stubborn young dragoness who is making an awful mistake?"
"yes. i would. she can't go alone, Dad. besides, she's right. we're wasting time. we need to take action!"
"hm, i am beginning to think this child is a bad influence on you, Goldheart"
"then allow me to continue to follow her example" he said. then he ran outside after Artica. Artica stood outside the temple, looking down the steep side of the mountain. he ran up to her. "Artica, i'm coming with you"
"great. hey, do you think i could climb down that?" she asked. he looked down.
"um.....i don't think so....it's too dangerous"
"oh. darn it"
"what? why can't you just fly?" he asked. she turned to face him.
"fly?" she asked, looking a bit surprised.
"uh, yeah. we're dragons. we have wings that we use to fly. you haven't learned how?" he asked. she shoke her head.
"uh, no, my parents never got a chance to teach us. do you know how to...?"
"fly? yeah, and i'm pretty good at it. well, for a young dragon, anyway"
"Goldheart, Artica, i'm glad i caught up with you" Goldscale said, walking up behind them.
"well, actually, Dad--"
"i can't go" Artica interupted.
"what? er, why not?"
"because i never learned how to fly" she said. Goldscale chuckled.
"well, i can easily fix that" he said.

Wow really good, poor inferno he got clawed twice, I'd fight her in that case. I like the detail in this last chapter too, nice work cynder. I wonder if her sister that has less patience would do the same as inferno and run or fight her.

Inferno had continued to run until he was well out of Anyanca's lair, and running far from the mountain. tears ran down his face as he continued to run. he was not looking where he was going, and soon tripped over something. he fell to the ground, and just lay there for a moment. he wiped the tears from his eyes using his paw. he then got up, and looked at the ground to see that he had tripped over a rock. he then thought he heard distant voices.
"what are we doing here?" a young female voice asked.
"well, you want to learn how to fly, yes?" an adult male replied.
"uh, yeah, but i thought we'd stay at the temple. why try flying here?"
"well, young dragon, this place has plenty of room for flying practice. plus, there are hardly any trees for you to crash into"
"i'll ignore that remark. so, teach me to fly already" she insisted. Inferno looked around, and saw three dragons in the distance. one was a large, male, gold dragon; one was a young, male, gold dragon; and the last was a young, female, blue dragon. he thought he reconized one of the voices. he walked over to them just as they were beginning flying practice.
"well, hello there" the adult said, looking at Inferno. the kids looked at him.
"uh, hi" Inferno replied. he looked at the female. "um, this may sound wierd but.....is your name Artica?" he asked her. she looked surprised.
"Inferno?" she asked.
"yeah, it's me. so, who are these two?" he asked.
"my name's Goldheart"
"and i am Goldscale. Artica, you know him?"
"well, sort of. we kinda met at Anyanca's lair. we were prisoners kept in diffrent cells. we talked to each other, but we didn't know what the other looked like until now" she explained.
"yeah, long story short. anyway, how'd you escape?"
"some kind of speacial power. it was really wierd, and kind cool. how'd you get out?"
"heh, another long story. you wouldn't believe me if i told you"
"yes, well, we have other important matters at hand" Goldscale said.
"yeah, he's right. he have to save my sister"
"i couldn't agree more" Inferno said.
"so, did you see her? i mean, did you ever find her? do you know where she is?" Artica asked. Inferno hesistated to answer. he wondered if he should tell them what had happened to Flare.
"no. i don't know" he muttered.
"oh..." Artica said, sadly. she looked at Goldscale. "teach me to fly. now. i will find my sister, and i will save her" she said, firmly. Inferno cracked a smile when she said that.
"alright, alright. i will teach you both how to fly" he said. Inferno and Artica both spread out, making sure they had plenty of room. they spread out their wings, ready to learn. Goldheart watched, standing next to his dad. "now, feel the power of the ancestors coursing through your bodies" Goldscale continued. they each closed their eyes. their wings began to flap. "focus on flying. and when you are ready...." their wings began to flap more as they began to rise up from the ground. they opened their eyes, and found themselves hovering above the ground. they each looked at each other, and smiled. then Artica flapped her wings harder, and began flying up into the sky. Inferno did the same, and followed her. Goldheart looked at his dad before flying up after them. Artica looked down at Goldscale, and then looked in the distance. she could see Anyanca's lair, and was dertimined to go save her sister. she then began flying towards her lair. Inferno and Goldheart began following her. Goldscale watched them fly away, and smiled proudly.

yeah, he's cute, but i also have cute cats, and other animals.

my cat is fat. and lazy, yesterday he watched me pay wii.

my cats arn't fat, but they are lazy, and eat a lot.

my cat nearly never eats,, and she's still fat.

maybe she gets food from somewhere else. one of my cats probally goes to like seven homes.

no, my cat just stays indoors... XO

oh, i think its because we never give her wet food and she just has dry food. i forgot about the dry food again.

Looking forward to this next chapter, finally those two learn how to fly.
