Chapter 21
The valley

“What’s wrong?” Glacier asked looking puzzled at the larger ice dragon.
“I know it isn’t what it looks like but this is a really bad place.” Icicle replied not making eye contact.
“What’s so bad about it? Everything looks fine.”
“This... this is where we used to live.” Icicle said with a look of pain across her face.
“Where we used to live? What happened?”
“As I said we used to live here but when the black dragons appeared they killed most of us, you where the one, the most powerful of all of us, we needed to do everything we could to protect you...” Icicle explained and looked as if she’d watched the whole thing from memory again.
“What?!... So I’m meant to be the strongest? And lots of dragons died here because of me...”
“You’re meant to be the one to bring peace and stop this from happening again...”
“How? What can I do?! I’m just a kid, are you serious?!”
“Well I’m sorry but that is what happened...”
“So I’m meant to stop all this from happening again?” Glacier looked out to the field where she noticed that there where piles of striped branches around, but when she looked closer they weren’t branches at all, they where bones...
“You see. We depended on you to protect us when you hatched, but they attacked too soon... We need you to help rebuild our name, all of those who are ice dragons...”
Glacier didn’t speak after that, she just stood there and felt the first tear run down her cheek.

Glacier can save the dragons again!

Theres always a person who likes them and cares to read them, if only people knew I read every story on here but I normally don't comment on them. It's not really hard cause most are little short baby chapters ;X.

Anyway, I'm going to try with short chapters and maybe I'll do the Awakening with just short parts of the chapters and see if people will read it then...

*sigh* Why doesn't everyone have a hobby of reading?

Anyway, keep writting and I'll most likely have read the chapter before you know I have. I just don't comment much.

Chapter 22
Another cave

Glacier wandered around in the valley and looked back towards where they entered and noticed there was a large ledge on top of the way out. Glacier flew up on the ledge and saw a massive cave, she walked inside and saw a light coming from above from the back, when she reached it there was a platform with an indent in it as if it used to hold something.
“That’s where your egg was kept.” Icicle said from behind.
“...Why do you think I can rebuild the ice dragon civilisation? I’m not special or anything am I?”
“...Well, you know that purple dragons only come around every 10’000 year’s right, well it’s the same for silver dragons...”
“W-w-what? Is that true?” Glacier said in shock.
“Yes but if you don’t want to help us then... that’s up to you...” Icicle said starting to walk out of the cave. Glacier just collapsed and began to cry, she didn’t know what to do, and she missed Blaze and thought that if she could restore the ice dragon race then, she might be able to go back to him... All she’d ever wanted was to live a normal life and not hurt anyone, but she’d already killed lots of her own kind, even before she’d hatched.

what? I hate writeing about myself... and it isn't on fanfic eather, but I base it on friends...

I have been struck by feelings. These feelings were happiness and sadness. But also, joy! This story is amazing. It came from a really inspired fan, like you. I love this story!

Chapter 23
The past

Icicle walked to the edge of the ledge and saw what happened ten years ago...

Chapter 24
Memory

Glacier woke the next morning with the pale light from the small hole above the platform where her egg had once been as Icicle had said. Icicle, where did she go? The little dragon wondered. She picked herself up and walked to the mouth of the cave, the valley looked untouched as she’d left it the night before. Glacier was starting to get worried about Icicle, after all she was quite an old dragon and if this place was as bad as she said it was then she could have gotten into trouble. Glacier gently glided down and began her search for the old dragon, she looked under the trees, behind rocks and every where, she’d decided to look by the lake. She went up to the lake and realised that there was a small stream leading to the lake constantly giving fresh water, Glacier chose to follow it to see where it lead her. I took her to the edge of the crater-like valley, there appeared to be just a rock face behind the small waterfall. She decided to place her wing in to see if she could find a wall behind it, when there wasn’t anything to feel within the reach of her wing she chose to put her head under the waterfall to see for herself what was there. To her amazement there was a large cave with crystals growing all around the walls, she stepped into the crystal covered cave, and she saw that if Icicle wasn’t here she had been, in the thin layer of sand on the floor there where the large dragon’s foot prints. Glacier ventured into the cave and around the corner she saw the old dragon’s tail sticking out from behind a large pile of crystals, as Glacier got closer she realised that this was where Icicle had been sleeping. Glacier looked up into the rest of the cave; she was standing at the entrance of a large chamber with large growths of crystals all around the room. There was a shallow trench at the far end of the chamber, she guessed that this was where the other eggs where kept, and it would make sense because it had taken her all morning to find this place. Behind her Icicle stirred. Glacier just out of instinct said “good morning.”
“Mmm, what?” The old dragon replied sleepily, slowly getting up on her feet.
“Good morning.” Glacier repeated.
“Where am I?”

Chapter 25
The shadow

As Glacier explained to the sleepy dragon what’d happened and where they where, they left the cave. The pale morning sun was shining on the fields of green that where spread out before the dragons. “It’s hard to believe that such a beautiful place like this has such a horrible history to it...” Glacier said looking at the lush fields of green ahead of them.
“It may be hard to believe but if you saw what happened, you couldn’t forget it...” Icicle reapplied.
The two dragons walked out into the fields unaware of something watching them. A shadow lay on the mountain side, watching waiting for its chance.
Down in the valley Icicle was suddenly aware of something different, she felt as if there was something following them. When Glacier asked what was wrong, she just said nothing and decided to ignore that feeling that someone was following them, after all it couldn’t be possible, no one knew about this place any more, no one would come it was impossible. The sudden movement caught Icicle’s eye, there was a shadow on the mountain and it looked as if it was getting bigger... Icicle’s eyes widened with fright and was frozen in mid-step, staring at the growing black smudge, it was now huge, it was massive for it to be moving in the air, there was only one thing it could be...

Chapter 26
Fire and Ice

The large dark smudge was now starting to take shape as a large dragon, a large stream of black flames came from what appeared to be the creatures head, as the stream of flames came ever closer, burning everything it touched and spreading perilously close to the two ice dragons. The large black dragon landed in the black flames and said, “Not a smart move coming here, sacrificing yourself and the silver dragon, you really are getting old.” The large black dragon said in a low gruff voice. “That silver dragon has skill, taking out my brother like that was quite an accomplishment for a kid. But things don’t stay easy forever, no things are going to get a lot harder and more painful from here.” The black dragon snarled. And in a quick, swift turn managed to swing his blade like tail towards the old ice dragon, and soon Icicle had a large cut on her left shoulder with a thin trickle of blood making its way down her leg.
“Humph, this’ll be easier than I though.” The large dragon sniggered.
“W-who a-a-are y-you?” The old dragon asked.
Glacier didn’t hesitate, she started at a fast run and flew for all she was worth, she looked back for a last glimpse of the fallen ice dragon, and looked up at the black dragon that was now in fast pursuit of the terrified Glacier. Glacier flew at her top speed heading towards the far end of the valley, the far side of the valley was a very rocky and mountainous place and she hoped that she’d find a place to hide there.

Chapter 27
The chase

Glacier flew weaving in and out of the rocky terrain, now aware that Shadow was beginning to breathe his black fire at her, Glacier had to be very cautious now, if she paid to much attention to the attacks from behind, then she might become careless to where she’s flying and could crash, and if she didn’t focus enough of Shadows attacks then she would be killed by Shadow, some how she’d have to find a way to loose Shadow and avoid being hit by his flames. Glacier flew for what had seemed forever with and enraged dragon following her, just waiting for her to tire.
The sound of another wing beat, but not from the per suing black dragon it came from above her.
Glacier looked up in alarm. But it was the opposite of what she thought. She thought that she was in an ambush, she expected to see another black dragon, but it was entirely different.
Glacier looked back to where she was flying but it was too late, she smashed right into a large rock.

Chapter 28
Return

Glacier lay unconscious below the rock that she’d crashed into, she couldn’t see anything but she could hear, she heard wing beats coming towards her she didn’t know if it was Shadow, the black dragon or that other thing. She’d forgotten what she saw chasing her from above. The wing beats stopped and there was a thud as what ever it was landed in front of Glacier. She heard a familiar voice, it was soft and gentle but had coarseness to it, it wasn’t Shadow’s voice, no, it was to gentle for it to belong to the black dragon, it seemed so familiar she’d heard it before, but where?
Glacier’s eye sight was beginning to come back, but it was hard to see, every thing was blurry, she could just make out a colour, orange. Her vision became slowly more accurate and soon she could see normally again. She saw a tall thin amber body, with two yellow/golden horns and a pair of deep burning red eyes, now she knew she’d seen them before, but where? Then she realised who it was.
“Blaze!”

Chapter 29
Next

“Yes?” The large orange dragon replied. “I guess you’re shocked to see me.”
“Well, yes! How did you find me? What happened? Wait! What about Shadow? He was chasing us.”
“Just calm down, he’s gone.”
“...Icicle! Icicle is very badly hurt! She needs help!”
“No, I’m afraid not. No one can help her now...” Blaze said looking upset. “She wasn’t strong enough...”
“What, so you mean...” Glacier trailed off.
“Yes, she didn’t make it.”
Glacier stood up, and started to cry.
“Why are you here any way? It’s dangerous here.”
“Icicle brought me here. She said that she would find out where to go next from here.”
“She means the ruins over there. I’ll not be surprised if there are a few other black dragons up in there.”
“So what now?”
“I don’t know...”
