I really hate how most people are only saying Nintendo characters. I feel those are the opinions only because of the two Skymiibos. If the two guests in Superchargers were Dragon Ball Z characters, for example, everyone would only be answering this question with DBZ characters. lol
Joking aside, I think instead of this guest character idea (really not the best of ideas), they should tackle this a different way. Instead of guests from other universes, just make some npc's or heard-of characters playable. Flynn, Tessa, someone related to Kaos, maybe someone from the Spyro universe? They would all work, and they all belong in that universe.

We're saying nintendo because VV chose nintendo and had no hesitation in saying it was because they liked them(though excused as 'it's where our fans are' even with two other companies' consoles around). Probably if we could suggest whatever like in the Smash Ballot, posts would be a few meters longer; but as much as I want to play as Shantae in Skylanders I'll have to do with Nightfall because the chances of them getting a third-party, no less a sort-of indie series, are pretty low, lower than the actual Smash chances.

I'm just with Drek when it comes to this. The two Skymiibos play brilliantly, and watching their gameplay made me wish my collection of 33 and growing Skylanders all played that cool, but it was executed horribly. Despite the nice figures, the great gameplay, the attention to detail, they really are possibly the worst thing to happen to the series. What bothers me most here, rather than the figures existing, is the fact that so many people are encouraging even more of these figures existing. We can all talk about how cool the idea is now, sure, but just watch, if this becomes a thing, and exclusive guest characters keep happening, we're all going to be talking about "back when Skylanders games were good". Skylanders needs to continue building on the lore and the characters within it (and having some NPC's within the story join the Skylanders would really help that) rather than selling out, which the Skymiibos are a clear indication of.

What if the reason we haven't seen the mobile starter pack is because they have a guest star. But its playable on all systems? What if we get the red angry bird as a figure but only available in the mobile pack?

Not because my opinion is the only right one or because you cannot like them, mind it!

You can like them as much as you want (I love both characters as well) but this, as a whole, is a bad thing for the series and might end up screwing up a BIG part of what Skylanders is if it gets out of hand.
I can accept a few characters even in future games as yet another proof of the endless possibility of the Skylands (if they'll be simple Nintendo extras and nothing more lore-wise) but anything more could end up overshadowing what this series is about.

Frankly they also chose a bad moment to introduce them with all the other potentially dangerous changes they made.
I might go as far as saying I would have "accepted" them more if they came out with Trap Team, for example.

I don't want to see a game ruled by exclusives and I sincerely fear it could happen.

I also agree regarding other potential Classic characters turned into Skylanders.
Other suggestions could be Blink for either Tech or Earth and Flame and Ember for Fire or even Magic.

If someone'll buy the Tablet version they probably don't need a guest to convince them that much; since it's pretty rare to have full games like that with an on-the-go mode already. It might attract outsiders but with those prices it's very unlikely.

Seeing as they had to discount it to around 30-ish in some stores that might help.

Yeah, I agree now. If they make more guest characters they should be on all platforms.

So, I think that we can all, even I, agree that the Nintendo guest stars are awesome... but probably weren't executed in the best possible way. Mainly due to the fact that they kind of break the whole "any figure on any system" thing. And I'm all sure we have very strong opinions on this one way or the other, but that is not what I want to discuss. I want to discuss other potential guest stars that would be universally compatible for future games.

Personally, here are some of my ideas:

Shovel Knight for the Earth element. Yes, I know Shovel Knight's supposedly getting an amiibo. But his games aren't Nintendo exclusive anymore. Heck, the PlayStation and Xbox versions have exclusive boss fights in them. So this could be another amiibolander, just one that works on all systems.

DC Superheroes. Like, say Batman for Dark element and Wonder Woman for Magic element. Would also be a good way to stick it to Infinity again. Also, if they do this, I hope they don't do Superman, because he would make a pretty boring Skylander...

As long as they are outside of the lore and aren't exclusives I'm happy with everything (though I probably wouldn't buy them).

Not sure if some of them are exclusives though.

I love the games and the stories but I was really young when I played them (the first and the second) and I found the fights to be too hard for me.
I'll have to play them again one day...

I even thought about adding a Nobody as a Light character but maybe it would still fit Dark better.

Well... if I had to pick guests. I still want Tessa and Flynn to join the Skylanders. In the biographies, it clearly states the Skylanders become Skylanders by doing heroic deeds, and Eon choosing them. Flynn has done more deeds in this series than listed in anyone's biography! lol. So I badly want Tessa, Flynn, Crash, and anyone from Spyro, but those really don't count, as I want them to be fully fledged Skylanders.

Ah, actually one thing I do want is guest level packs. For me since I want someone from the Spyro universe or Crash, it would be really cool if there were an Adventure pack for these characters, and the level within the pack was inspired by that original game, with the villain of that game as the boss. In this case, the boss would be Ripto (or Malefor) for the Spyro one, and Cortex for the Crash one. I don't even want that same villain, though. Spyro in Skylanders isn't quite the same as the previous versions of Spyro, so I'd be expecting, and hoping that Crash, Cortex, and Ripto are also redesigned and changed up a bit.

Absolutely agree.

No problem if you got interested in the game thanks to the Skymiibos or even if you liked it before but now are even more excited because of them.
The thing I don't understand (and won't suggest) is if you weren't interested or even plain disliked the game before but now completely changed your mind only and I repeat only because of Bowser and Donkey Kong.

That doesn't mean being a fan.
That means being a fanboy and that's generally not a good thing.
And it's not even because of the Skymiibos themselves, it's the whole concept which doesn't make sense.

I didn't buy the first game because of Spyro even if I did got interested in it because of him.
But from the first moment I saw the TtL mechanic... I knew I would have bought that game.
Again I heard people saying these exact words "the game looks bad, boring and way too childish for me but I'll buy it because of Bowser/Donkey Kong".

Sorry... That's plain dumb.
So yes... Don't buy a 70$ game only for two characters which might potentially even be dropped in future titles (or might simply become useless if you switched from Nintendo to Sony or Microsoft).
Do yourself a big favor and buy their Amiibos instead.
