Shane sat upright, scratched his head which wasn't even really there. "I suppose you're right..." He had been thinking about her all day, not paying attention to his school work, he even almost got a math question wrong. "Hey Mort..." He wanted girl advice, hoping he would be the one to give it to him. "Should I buy her flowers? Flowers and pretty and Rachel is pretty, maybe a chocolate bar? Do girls likes chocolate? I like chocolate it tastes chocolate-y, how about a fish? I like fish, do you think Rachel likes fish too?" It was odd with Mort's current situation that Shane would be asking his advice, although Shane's barrage of questions seemed to know no end

Syndral paused upon seeing her, no longer in a hurry to leave the cafeteria. "Rachel, whatever is the matter?" She wondered what kind of problem the human would have that would warrant her to ask for help. She figured that it was probably related to school, since Rachel seemed to care about her work almost as much as Syndral did. Plus, school work was one thing Syndral was confident she could help with. After all, the human school was no where near as challenging as the one back home.

Seytrius had been sitting there, eating his sandwich as Mort and Shane discussed about....Rachel? Seytrius decided he had had enough of being confused, and (after he finished chewing) he stood up and said "Okay, can someone please tell me what's going on? I'm a little confused. From what you're saying, it sounds like you're talking about the fact that you asked Rachel out."

"Yeah, he's taking her to that Homecoming thing." Mort rested his head in his hand, uninterested in his meal as he swished the peas around with his fork. "I wouldn't give her a pet just yet. That should probably wait until you're further in the relationship. I guess flowers are a good start." He gave an agitated sigh. "Why don't you ask Nathan for advice, I don't know anything about girls."
~~ "It's-- it's-- Let's get out of the way." She sidestepped away from the doors as they were blocking traffic. "It's about-- I was getting my books before second period, and Shane asked me out. I said I would think about it, but that made him really upset. I said yes, but now I'm not so sure. I don't know what to do; I need advice," he managed to blurt out, clearly distressed. She had no idea how to deal with boys in this kind of situation. She never had the need to. |

Shade soon received the text from Elim and it showed up on the screen. Shade didn't like others telling him what to do but sense Elim was his superior he sent back a text saying that it wouldn't happen again. The screen soon displayed an "ERROR!" sign. communications failure. "Drat! I have to get into orbit around the planet to get a better signal." He typed on his communications device connect to Elim Melvyn. "Sir my long distance communications device has failed. I need to get to the planet's orbit to send back my reports to the Galactic Order."

Shane nodded his head. "Right...Flowers....Do you know exactly when the dance is?" He needed time to go home to his cave and get ready, despite the fact he was wearing a mask, it could be customized, he needed to spike his hair and clean his teeth and he still didn't have any clothes for the occasion, though he was given quite a lot of money so it shouldn't be a problem.

Syndral gave a sigh when she realized what the subject matter was. She didn't know anything about relationships or boys. She had no experience with that. She figured she would be of no help to Rachel.
"What would give you the impression that I possess knowledge and experience with this subject matter? How do you expect me to aid you with this?" She asked, mildly frustrated. Syndral didn't like being presented with problems that she couldn't solve. Normally, Syndral would probably avoid topics of relationships and boys. She had convinced herself that she wasn't the least bit interested in them. However, this was different. Syndral was presented with a problem and asked for advice. She could tell that Rachel's demeanor had changed. She didn't really understand what it meant or why she was behaving differently, but this situation did seem to be bothering her. Syndral couldn't explain why, but she felt the need to help the human with this issue. So she started to think of how this problem could be resolved. Syndral thought about what this 'being asked out' could possibly mean. Did Shane simply ask her to go stand outside? No, that was stupid. It didn't make any sense. Then again, Syndral had perceived him to be an idiotic creature that made little sense, so maybe that was a possibility. Then a thought occurred to her. Syndral remembered her conversation with Morph earlier. "I do not suppose that Shane asked you to attend this Homecoming with him?" She asked. "Mort had previously brought it up with me and asked if I had planned on attending. I just simply explained to him that I had no real reason to go. Attending such an event would serve no purpose to me. He perceived the logic in my reasoning and understood that I have no reason to be present at this event, so he did not press the issue. Did Shane press the issue further and convince you to attend?"

By the vacant look in Shane's eyes, Mort decided that he had it bad enough for the scruffy looking girl. He didn't like the thought of that. "Yeah, that's not happening until the middle of September, or something. You've got plenty of time to figure out something and... wow her, or whatever." The redhead turned away, seeming less and less concerned with the conversation.
~~ "Well, kinda. I was already gonna go, but then... it's not about Homecoming, it's about Shane. I hardly even know him. I mean, he's a good friend and all, but I-- I don't know what to do. He was really upset when I didn't give him a direct answer, and I... I just don't know," Rachel rambled, looking more and more stressed. She was wondering if Diane was even a good source for advice on the subject matter. She was pretty straightforward about her lack of knowledge on relationships-- she found it rather odd that she seemed to ignorant-- and was slightly taken aback at how annoyed she sounded. ~~ Information on Mr. White's glasses showed that Shade was trying to contact him. An urgent message. Without hesitation, he briskly left the teachers' lounge and made his way to a more desolate place in the hallways. He mentally activated the Bluetooth device in his spectacles. "It would be more efficient if you used the texting installation instead of the oral connection," he muttered, his voice low. "What seems to be the issue?" This better be important, he thought. He couldn't keep randomly re- and disappearing for purposes that the other teachers would surely be interested in. Humans were... nosy, in that sense. |

Shane jumped up, brimming with happiness once more. "Right! You're right Mort, I shouldn't worry about this, why would she lie about wanting to go with me?" He skipped over to the vending machine, place two dollars in the slot and grabbing the chocolate milk that popped out at the bottom of the machine. "But enough about me and my problems, what's up with you guys?" Shane found he was too self-centered alot of the time and wanted to change that.

Syndral gave a 'hmm' and a thoughtful gaze. Rachel was already planning on going to this strange and pointless event, and apparently Shane wanted to go with her. She didn't understand why anyone would want to go to this thing, but she did understand not wanting to go with certain people.
Still, if both were already set on going, then what was the issue? This event already sounded like it would hold plenty of loud and annoying people. What difference would just one make? Syndral had seen Rachel and Shane have pleasant interactions, so what was the problem? Was a lack of directness really the only issue here? And what was keeping Rachel from being direct? None of this made any sense. Syndral gave another sigh, knowing full well that this was foreign territory for her. She decided that about all she could was ask Rachel her questions and possibly listen to her problems, even though this didn't really seem like a big deal. "Perhaps simple directness could aid the issue?" She suggested with an air of uncertainty. "Still, if you both plan on attending this event anyway, then what is the harm of being there together? You are both on good terms, correct? Besides, this event will likely be full of people. It should not be difficult to simply lose one in a crowd and leave to converse with someone else, if the need arises."

Mort only groaned, and turned to Nathan, waiting for his response. He didn't really have anything nice to say. He generally didn't anyway, but he decided not to spoil the good mood his peers were having. He needed to ditch that bad habit.
~~ Rachel tried to understand what Diane was saying. As she pondered on it, it seemed to make more sense. "Yeah, I guess you're right. It's not like we have anything against each other. I mean, boys take girls out to these places all the time. It doesn't have to be serious," Rachel was starting to pace a bit, mostly talking aloud to herself. "And I guess I don't have to be with him every waking moment." ~~ He wasn't too surprised, as Shade tended to send his reports during school. But something else struck him as strange. "The long range isn't working?" He glanced around the hallways once more, making sure no one was within view and double checking to make sure he was in the blind spots of the nearby cameras. Can't be too careful. |

"Precisely. The situation is just not important enough to be overly concerned with. These events do not seem serious themselves, so it seems that it would make sense to not take the situation itself so seriously. Besides, it is not as if the two of you are literally attached to each other. You are not required to be with him every second of the event. Even if that were the case, this event will be full of people. You are likely to get zero alone time." Syndral explained.
She honestly was a bit surprised that she somehow managed to make sense discussing a situation she knew nothing about. She wasn't sure how she was helping, but she at least seemed to be getting her point across. After all, she deemed Rachel to be a sensible person, at least for a human. Syndral figured that she had no reason to make such a huge fuss over this event and who she was with during it.

OOC: Ah, I see my old friend the Writer's Block came to visit me this week... you're not welcome, anymore.
Mort continued to stare off into the crowds and tables of students, disconnected with the conversation. ~~ Rachel continued to pace, nodding at what Diane was saying. She had the tendency to take things too seriously, thinking of every possible thing that could go wrong and unnecessarily worrying over it. "You're right, I guess. I mean, he's just taking me out," she stopped, and gave a sigh. "But it's still a date... I don't know how to work with that. I've never really... I don't know..." It was pretty clear that Diane didn't possess much knowledge of the subject of boys, so maybe should ask Allison. She thought about calling her, but they weren't allowed to even during lunch on school grounds. Plus, she was obviously absent for a reason. She didn't want to call someone when they're sick. ~~ Mr. White suppressed a sigh. So that's it? "Your permission is granted," he stated bluntly. "I only ask of you to only use the Bluetooth when experiencing an emergency if during school hours." He was ready to get out of that hallway. There was no telling who could be listening to him, hearing him talking to the air. Humans seemed to have a Bluetooth device as well, but it seemed rather unorthodox for a teacher to be using one on school grounds. Perhaps he was being paranoid, but his years of training for spy work taught him to never take unnecessary risks. This was rather unnecessary. Why could Jet just text him? He wouldn't even have to leave the sights of his fellow teachers. |

Seytrius shrugged, thinking through his pretty boring day he's had so far. His first few classes weren't interesting what-so-ever.....especially considering how easy they were. Though, he did get a good book from the library today, after he had finished the one he started yesterday, Divergent. "Well....I guess if you count going to the library and finding a pretty good book something that's "up," then yes." He said, smiling to himself at, what he thought, was a clever joke.

"The table seems pretty empty without Rachel or that one kid who sits at the end and eats his hair, I miss that guy." He tapped the table to a beat. "So guys, any of you talking anyone to the dance?"

"When I begin working on a science experiment, or start tinkering with a machine for the first time, I do not always know what to expect. There is always a possibility of several complications arising, and I have a chance of making even the most minor of mistakes. It can take me a few tries to finally get something exactly right so that everything is running smoothly. It is all a process of trial and error. If a machine somehow manages to explode in my face when I cut a certain wire, then I probably rather not cut that same wire on the next prototype. Instead, I make a note of that mistake and correct it. Eventually, I come to a point where I have learned all that I need to know, and I can create a successful prototype that is in perfect working condition."
After her rambling, Syndral cleared her throat. "What I mean by all that is that no one is an expert at everything on their first attempt. There is always something that can go wrong. However, you plan ahead and prepare yourself, when a mistake presents itself, you react accordingly. Eventually, you learn how to properly deal with certain obstacles."

"What? Oh, that kid. Haven't seen him." Mort groaned when the topic shifted back to Homecoming. "No... just me..."
~~ "Well, it's not technically a date, but that's kinda what it looks like-- but, what if I make a mistake that hurts him? What if he doesn't want to be friends anymore because of it? I don't know what to expect, and I need to know how to treat him." |

Syndral sighed. She closed her eyes, her head tilting downward as if she was staring at the floor. She had one hand on her chin, her elbow resting on her other arm, which was going across her stomach. This was quite possibly the most challenging problem Syndral has had to solve since her arrival to this planet. Rachel should be a teacher or something for that.
This 'date', whatever that was, was really stressing Rachel out for some reason. What was the big deal? She was just going out to a noisy, heavily populated event with someone she possibly has a connection with. Sure, it sounded like torture, but it didn't seem serious. How would that possibly hurt anyone? How does that effect a connection? Why would you treat this person any differently just because the setting changed? Humans made less sense by the second. Maybe all that rambling and all those logical explanations were for nothing. They didn't really seem to be helping much. Strange that logic can't solve this problem. Obviously humans don't use it enough to trust that it can help them in certain situations. Maybe Rachel needed a partner that could help her through this. Humans seemed to like being in groups. Maybe this 'date' needed more people. Although it seemed strange, since there would likely be hundreds all around them, but maybe these extra people needed to have a connection with her and be closeby. Syndral opened her eyes and looked back at Rachel. "Perhaps some additional company would aid you?" She muttered quietly. "Perhaps you would believe yourself to be less inclined to make mistakes if you had others there with you, aside from all the strangers that will be present. It could make the situation seem less serious, and possibly give you an example to look to for how to appropriately behave in this situation."

Shane hadn't paid much attention to the breaking windows, they weren't near the ToC so he didn't make a big deal out of it, and besides, he was too deep in thought, the dance worried him, he hadn't worried so much about something nearly his entire life. "Sounds fun..." He replied to Mort, clearly not paying attention to his answer despite the fact his response to his question. "I already have this dance planned out, first I shall pick my female date up with the finest robes in all the land, then i shall charm her with some witty banter, We shall dance as it is a dance, and when i say dance I mean I will bust a move like I never have, followed by a wondrous kiss of love and then we will happily ever after like in the fairy tales." The shattering windows wasn't anything particularly new. The students were used to it, and the school was still sending complaints to the Air Force to stop letting jets preform their practice runs over the building. However, four other people knew what "jet" in particular the explosions were really from, and one was about fed up with it. Mr. White causally returned to the Teacher's Lounge for another drink of water, but it was quite clear that he was maintaining his composure.
~~ "Well, aren't you romantic," Mort muttered under his breath. "It would be better if we just went together. I don't want to deal with any of this dating crap." ~~ "You would do that? That's-- thank you so much, Diane. But I don't know if-- actually... That could work. Shane doesn't-- I guess-- I don't know, he probably wont mind. Yeah, that would help. I need help with this." Even still, Rachel was unnerved by the whole situation. She was on unfamiliar territory, and territory that she knew was the closest metaphorical thing to a no-man's-land. Teenage romance seemed to be a doozie, and it wasn't something she wanted to get involved with, for a large number of reasons. But she couldn't disappoint Shane. |

Syndral quickly lowered her arms and her eyes widened slightly. How did she get from simply offering advice to accidentally volunteering herself to go with Rachel to this event in a matter of seconds? Was something lost in translation? Did she use the right English words? Did something she said have a different meaning that she wasn't aware of? How did she get dragged into this so quickly? Where did Rachel get the idea that Syndral wanted to go to this thing?
Humans and logic, they just didn't mix. Was Syndral just stuck attending this event now? Was there no way out of it? She would have to spend her evening wasting time at this noisy, pointless event. So many idiotic people would be there. To make matters worse, she would likely be forced to hang around at least one of them the entire time. On top of that, she would have to continue to help a human with something she knew nothing about. This was just awful. Syndral had planned on doing anything else that night. Syndral sighed and placed her hands in the pockets of her hoodie. She turned her gaze to the floor. Was there something she could say to get out of this that would not hinder her current relationship with Rachel? After all, being close to a human could very well benefit her mission. Would backing out of this event somehow hurt the possibly growing trust? Rachel came to her with this issue for advice, and now she seemed to believe that Syndral offered to tag along and help. Getting out of it could mean trouble. Syndral's social skills were poor enough as it is, she couldn't risk severing ties with possibly the only human that could hold a pleasant conversation with her. She would have to endure this event. Perhaps by doing so she could earn trust from this human and learn more about them. She turned her gaze back to Rachel and cleared her throat. "Well, of course." Her voice was quiet and she spoke a little slower. "That is what friends are for, correct?" Uncertainty creeped into her tone.

OOC: Sorry for being so inactive lately. I'm only going to be less active, since I won't be on the site for at least a month now. I'm really sorry. I'll read up on what I'll miss and post when I get back.
Happy first day of autumn, everyone! Rachel, breathing a sigh of relief, quickly embraced Diane in a thankful gesture. "Thank you so much, Diane. I don't think I would make it without you." She quickly released her grip. "I'll talk to you later," she said as she disappeared in the crowd. Mort continued to glare at the table in front of him, setting the pieces of broken fork in his tray. "Yeesh. I don't like her that much," he grumbled. He continued to ignore the world around him, and eventually getting up to leave, deserting his tray. "You can have that if you want," he said to Nathan as he left. |

//Whoa, my inspiration is back.//
Just as Shane had gotten up and left, a familiar sound rang throughout the building of Casper High. It nearly sent Shane flying into a locker as he hadn't been expecting it. However it made sense, lunch had been going on for awhile, it almost felt like four months since lunch had started. Shane didn't complain much about not finding Rachel, he had time to think and he thought the whole thing was ridiculous, he wasn't here to find some soul mate, and even if he was it wouldn't work with a human. Zurgon decided to let things happen as they did and not try to tamper with things, that way if something was meant to happen then it would. "Love blinds us..." He said to himself softly, he had forgotten where he'd heard it but it wasn't wrong, besides how was he supposed to know this feeling was of admiration and not just some friendly emotion that he'd never felt before. Zurgon finally decided what he would do, he would take Rachel to the dance as a friend, after all, friends were the most important thing in the world, and besides, if he mated with a human there was no telling what the spawn what look like. With that, Shane rushed off to his next class. It was odd how easily Zurgon was able to change his views and his perspective on subjects, maybe it was due to his near lack of an attention span. Regardless, Zurgon rushed off.

Letting out a half-hearted huff of disregard, Mort forced through the wall of students congesting the doorways. He already had the books he needed for his next classes, so he went his way to period four before encountering Shane, once again, in the hallways. He recognized his scent from behind and turned around, seeing him approach, running. Whether or not the human would notice him was to be revealed; he wasn't unaware of his absent-mindedness when anticipating the next round of enrichment, which was most of the time.

Meanwhile Jet's (AKA Shade) ship the USS Neptune crashed landed in the nearby woods. He was knocked unconscious by the impact. Smoke was rising from the woods.
