I tried to go to sleep a few days ago but something was like whispering my name. Better still I had recently watched Paranormal Activity. I was flipping out.

A childhood friend of Rianua, Thorn!
Now, Thorn and Rianua were two friends that couldn't be pulled apart. Thorn's parents were having trouble, arguing constantly, abusing him, and he truly felt unloved by everyone. ... Well, everyone minus one. Rianua was practically his sister. They promised that they'd be by their friend's side forever.
Sadly, Rianua was killed. He was alone.
He grew up in the wild, and died in a battle against another, stronger dragon.
Then his dear friend came back to life a long while after his death. And he was gone.
Whatever happened to "best friends forever?"

I suppose it is.
My characters always seem to have something sad happen to them. *sigh* Oh, well. I'm glad the emotion came across.

Ria: It's okay. We can't be separated.
Thorn: Yeah! Even when we die, we stay with each other to the very ends of the earth!

Sebastian: *looking slightly disheartened*
Grell: X3 He thinks you two are more than just friends...

Tragic back stories happen a lot, but I thought this one came across better than most.

Rianua: He's like my little brother! *hugs Thorn*
Thorn: ^-^ Yeah, Ria's like the big sister I never had.
Rianua: But it's most certainly not romantic, if that's what you're thinking.

It's less cheesy than most. I think that's pretty much why it's more sad.
