George, with Derrick's help, had just gotten Shade inside when the others started to take off up the stairs. Climbing in after them, George took an energy potion vial to give it to Shade, "Here, if your healing abilities are still active, you're going to need this."
Derrick looked to the window, a few shadow creatures were visible in the distance. He turned back around to see the stairwell Aretis, Starz, and Azuron had went, "We can't let them go alone," he then looked back to George, "But there are still a few outside."

A large crack was heard from the stairwell as Starz kicked the door open. Before them was a vast hall, with staircases spiraling upwards towards the turrets and other small staircases leading up to the walls of the hall. There were a lot of small darkness creatures roaming the hall, and they all immediately turned towards the dragons. Starz ignored all of them, her gaze set right at the back of the hall, where there were a wide set of stairs leading to one massive black door.
"There," Starz hissed, extending her claws, her tail swishing along the ground. Azuron gulped and planted his paws firmly on the ground. "Well, I think we're in for the battle of our lives." |

"Derrick, you should stay here with Shade, and make sure the others catch up. I'm going up after the others to help," he started for the stairs, then looked back, "Come join us as soon as you all can." With that he set out up the stairwell after Starz, Azuron, and Aretis. Coming to the top just behind them, he noticed the creatures. Looking at the others who were steaming with energy at the moment, They are amped right now, better not waste this energy fluctuation on the minions. he stepped up, "I'll take care of these smaller ones," he looked back to the light dragons, "You should use your advantageous elements on the major threat and not waste a second in doing so. I'll hold these ones off while you get to the door."
He then turned to face the creatures who have just started for the small group, "I guess it's time to try a few new tricks," his paws lit up with shadow energy, while some of the floor wrapped around his exposed scales for extra mass, "When something normal passes through a shadow, nothing happens to the shadow. When a shadow passes through a shadow, the shadow becomes darker, heavier. But this logic is only part of the equation I've put together. All in all, what little shadow abilities I've gained from Derrick's condition, I should be able to fight these creatures with as much ease as a light dragon, more or less." he took a battle ready stance.

Soon within 12 mins Shade was fully healed. He looked to Derrick. "I'm ready to fight!" As soon as he said that a radiant light aura began to form around him.

Aretis nodded at Starz as he also saw the big black door up ahead. "Well, they did ask us to fight an army, and an army we get." He said and suddenly stamped his paws on the ground crouching as he activated another light magic. He appeared to glow again, but this time, in the form of some sort of translucent armor made of rays of light. Like glass, it solidified all around him, yet it seemed to move freely with him when he moved. curved spikes appeared along his armor and from the claws on his wings, shining long blades like curved sabers formed out of this 'light' material, covering the span of his wing and actually protruding about 3 inches beyond his wing.
Aretis breathed in and out slowly in his new armor. "I'm ready, Starz. When you go in, I'll be right next to you." He said to her.

Starz looked to her left, seeing Aretis standing beside her, and she nodded at him before turning back to face the enemies. The darkness creatures were very slowly moving towards the group of dragons, and a low growl came from Starz's throat. Her horns began to glow with a brilliant light, and suddenly, the light dragoness jumped straight up into the air, over a few small creatures, and immediately dived down, plowing through the darkness creature crowd with her glowing horns, making them fly back from the force, immediately turn into mist, and dissolve into thin air.
Azuron followed Starz's lead, jumping into the crowd on the right side and beginning to fire ice shards at some of the enemies. |

Aretis dashed in, keeping beside Starz, but putting a little distance between them. His wings expanded to their full length and swiped horizontally, cleaving through his enemies as the sabers on his wings cut through them like butter. He spun around, lunging at another group and and as he landed swiped with his wings. Any enemy that got too close, he would lash out with claws and fangs, though that rarely happened. The reach of Aretis's wings prevented enemies from getting too close, lest they be cut to shreds. Aretis looked at the door ahead of them. He reared back and then charged towards the door, slicing through a swath of enemies and carving a path to the door.

Starz noticed Aretis charging towards the large door on the other side of the vast hall and creating a small path. She decided to help and make the 'path' bigger, so she blasted a light beam towards a swarm of the darkness creatures, obliterating them.
Azuron, after shooting ice shards, spun around, whacking all the darkness creatures around him with his large tail. |

Suddenly with a blinding light Shade appeared. His body was giving off intense rays of light. He fired a blast of light through the darkness creatures making a clear path to the door. "Go! Go now!"

Aretis leapt up in time to dodge the blasts of light. He reached the base of the stairs and started climbing them. Darkness creatures swarmed around him, closing quickly the path that was cleared by the light blast. Aretis cut and slashed all around him as the creatures began coming at him from all directions as he made his way up the staircase.

Starz ran through the darkness creature crowd, soon reaching the very tall and very wide staircase. She stopped at the base of it and shot a light blast upwards, making a small path, but she knew it wouldn't last for long. She began to run up the stairs, but felt some of the darkness creatures gaining on her. She growled and spun around, shooting another light blast down the stairs. |

George joined in on the raid, following the others as they progressed. He stayed more toward the caboose of the wrecking train as they powered through these creatures. He took up the rear to cover their back sides, he used a mix of his elements, earth for walls or shields, and shadow as ranged attacking. He couldn't defeat them as easily as the light dragons, but he still made his mark as they moved along, Hopefully Darrick and the others are ok. I don't know if everyone else can make it by themselves.

Aretis looked back, seeing darkness creatures after Starz. He was only up a few steps from the base so he dove back down, right behind Starz and slashed at their pursuers. He cleared a path again and then with his earth power, out of the ground a pillar blocked half of the entrance to the staircase at it's base. This was to narrow the fighting space. He tried to make the base of the stairs a defensive position so it would be easier to fight off the endless army of darkness while the rest of the group made their way to the stairs.

"Thanks," Starz said breathlessly as Aretis attacked the darkness creatures behind her. She jumped up a few steps and was about to shot a light beam down at the base of the stairs when a huge pillar from the ground rose up and blocked half of the stairway. The light dragoness blinked and then ran over to the other half of the stairs, beginning to attack the darkness creatures there.
Azuron was slowly moving through the darkness creature crowd, shooting ice beams and waving his large tail back and forth, hitting darkness creatures that were behind him in the process. |

Aretis grimaced. There were much too many of them to take care of. Not to mention the darkness creatures kept pouring in. As the old cliché went, one falls two more shall take it's place. Well, this felt like for every one, ten more were popping up. Aretis slashed and slashed through this mire of darkness bodies but it honestly felt like he was getting nowhere.

Starz began to realize she was wasting energy fighting the countless darkness creatures that crowded the vast hall. She blasted a beam towards a small group ganging up on Aretis and then zipped around, glaring up the stairwell. She could feel that someone was up there, and they had to be stopped, or the whole country would be shrouded in a dark mist, and everyone's homes would be destroyed.
The light dragoness felt a darkness creature grab her tail and she immediately zipped around, blasting a lightning bolt at them. She then turned back to the stairs, let out a growl, and began to climb. |

Aretis was relieved and nodded at Starz, thankful for the help. He kept climbing the stairs as fast as he could, but it was difficult running through this mire. Every light beam that cleared a path was quickly swallowed up. Aretis leaped up and did a ground-slam attack, sending shockwaves of light energy to clear things around him. He made it next to Starz.

Starz stumbled as Aretis did the ground-slam attack. She was too focused on getting to the top of the staircase than anything around her. She then sensed that Aretis had reached her and was running beside her, but she kept her blue gaze on the stairs.
Azuron noticed the two light dragons already climbing the stairs, and decided it was time to catch up to them. He leapt up into the air and began to jump across the heads of the darkness creatures towards the staircase. "Come on!" he called to the others. |

"We just have to make a break for it! We're not gonna make it if this keeps up! There's too many of them." Aretis shouted. He slashed his tail, cutting those trying to get close. His light armor was shining dimmer. Aretis knew it wouldn't last much longer. Plus he was exhausted from everything he has already done.

Starz eventually reached the top of the stairs. Panting, she turned around and blasted a light beam downwards in case any darkness creatures were making their way up towards her or Aretis. She turned back around and looked up, seeing a giant door only a few metres away from her. She took a few moments to let it sink in, that she and the group had made it, and then, her blue eyes narrowed.
"They're in there," she growled, taking a step back. "They're in there." She extended her claws and planted herself firmly on the ground. "Stand back," she said to Aretis, not taking her eyes off the door. The light dragoness closed her eyes, took a deep breath, exhaled, and then her blue eyes snapped open again. Gathering up her strength, Starz began charging up a powerful attack. Her horns glowed and then her claws did as she dug them into the ground to keep herself balanced. After a few seconds of silence, Starz opened her mouth and launched a powerful light beam directly at the door. It hit the door with such force that a small wave bounced back to the group, making them stumble backwards. The doors suddenly swung inwards violently, and Starz stopped the beam, panting. "Whoa, Starz. When did you learn that?" Azuron reached the top of the stairs and padded over. Starz shook her head, not answering, and then looked up. "Let's go." |

George stood firm as the shockwave from the attack that blew the door open. He turned about, not seeing anyone else coming up, "May the ancestors watch over you," he says quietly. Using his abilities over the earth element, he pulled up a wall of stone to block off the stair way completely. If the darkness creatures were still after them, they couldn't reach them this way.
Turning around to walk up next to the others that made it to the top. He looked over them, realizing just how worn this venture has been on them. Can we win in our current state? I may not have attacked on the level they did, but I'm still rather tired myself. Luckily I and till of use with these shadow abilities I've gained from Derrick. Wait, Derrick!? He's still down there. Shadow is wounded still, unless he has healed. If not, then he is practically on his own! If anyone is to die, let it be me instead. he then focuses on the current task, since this is the source. Whoever or whatever controls this nightmare must be stopped, before anyone else suffers.

Aretis was also surprised at Starz, but then felt a glow of pride at Starz's blast. That's my girl He thought. He saw seeing George close the stairway with an earth wall. He squeezed his eyes shut and looked away. "I'm sorry, friends." He muttered knowing he wouldn't forgive himself for this. Then, he burst through the doors after Starz.
