Xrail nodded to Aretis. "Go. The rest of us will hold off the dark dragons." He said. Aretis nodded and got ready. He grinned. Aretis slammed into the ground and a large rock spike came out and floated in the air. Aretis kicked it and it went flying toward the horde of dark dragons. Aretis swiped his tail in an arc and a blade of light shot out and hit the rock spike and combined with it as a earthen light spike.

"Alright.....Mom get ready!!!" tundra called out to her

Slean shot a beam of pure acid into the group of dark dragons. Rouge backed her up, and Firefly shot a beam of light. they stayed close together, ready to teleport at any moment.

The earthen light spike sailed and pierced a pretty big hole in the army formation. Aretis watched as the small force of ghost light dragons invincibly started pushing back the army. Suddenly one of the leader dark dragons made a small black hole thingy. One of the fighting ghost light dragons was sucked into it and the hole shrunk to the size of Aretis's fist and then turned into a dark cube. "No!" Aretis shouted and rushed to help. The dark dragons started doing the same thing and sucking the ghost light dragons and trapping them in the cubes.

Slean turned to Rouge and Firefly.
"you two go on ahead. go back home. i will catch up." she said to them, quietly.
"but, Mom--"
"no buts, Rouge. go. now. teleport. hurry." she insisted. Rouge sighed. she then took Firefly, and teleported to Slean's lair. Slean turned to the dark dragons. she then shot another acid beam at them.

Tundra then shot a ball of poison uptowards the air when he saw aretis coming back towards the battle field to help out again. "Aretis!!! No!!! Get back to where you were at!!!" He yelled as he hurried to try and get him to get back to slean.

Aretis yelled as he saw Starra get sucked into one of those dark cubes. "No!" He rushed over, but the dark dragons blocked him. Aretis didn't care. He would NOT lose his friends and family after he just found them again! Aretis barreled through the dark dragons, but they repelled him with a series of combined dark blasts. Aretis was shot backward. He opened his wings and cushioned his fall. Aretis charged again, his scales becoming a blur. Aretis transformed himself into light matter. It was risky. He shot all around the dark dragons, scooping up the cubes of the dragons sucked in and then he felt the power fade. Suddenly Aretis found himself in the middle of the dark dragon army.

Slean growled, and shot acid beams at the dark dragons. she knocked them back, trying to keep them away from Aretis.

Tundra ran into aretis and pinned him. "Aretis!!!! Lets go they'll be fine trust me"

The dark dragons poured in and lunged at Aretis. Aretis had no time to react. For a second, Aretis disappeared. Then Aretis exploded with light and the dragons on top of him were thrown off by a powerful light blast. A bubble of light surrounded Aretis, but his eyes were closed. Aretis's eyes flashed open and Aretis disappeared. He appeared next to Slean, still slightly intimidated by her. Aretis looked up, ready to go.

Slean looked down at Aretis.
"alright then, lets go." she said. she glanced at Tundra. "are you coming with us?" she asked.

"Yeah lets go, hurry!" He said as he held aretis tightly and was next to his mom.

Aretis gathered his power, and then shot one last light beam into the dark mass that was converging upon them.

Slean grabbed them both, and then teleported to her lair, where Rouge and Firefly waited for them.

Tundra teleported and then growled at aretis. "Whats your deal!!! I told you to stick to the plan, and then you pull something like that."

"wait, what? what happened?" Firefly asked.
"what'd he do?" Rouge asked. Slean sighed and sat down. she soon lay down and relaxed for a moment.

Aretis dropped the cubes. "Starra..." He cried as he cradled the cube Starra had been sucked into.

Rouge and Firefly blinked. they wondered who Starra was. Slean got up and walked to him. she looked at the cubes, and snarled slightly.
"i have seen these before. they trap spirits, ghosts, into them." she said.
"huh? they're traps?" Firefly asked, still confused.
"yes." Slean nodded.
"can they be broken or unlocked?" Rouge asked.

"I'm sorry.....ugh....I need to go and rest.... Mom is there a place i can go here and relax for abit?" He told her.

Slean nodded.
"there are spare rooms down the hall by Rouge's room. there are gaurds everywhere, so Rouge, escort him plase to keep him out of trouble." she said. Rouge nodded.
"sure. Firefly, you coming?" she asked.
"um, no thanks. i'm not that tired right now." she said.
"alright. come on, Tundra, this way." Rouge said, walking down a hallway.

"Alright thanks sis." He said as he began to look like he was thinking about something.

Aretis looked at the cubes. Then his eyes widened. "The others! They'll be captured." He spread his wings and got ready to fly out.

"Aretis, wait! you can't go back there!" Firefly insisted.
"she's right. you at least can't go alone. if you insist on going, then we'll go with you." Slean said.
"right. you can't go alone." Firefly said.

"no problem. its just up this way." Rouge said, leading the way. there were doors on either side of the hallway.

Aretis was about to fly unheeded by their warning, when three ghosts appeared through the wall. His dad, Xrail, his mother, Aurilis, and the elder of the light dragons. They came out. Aretis saw them unhurt. "Where are the rest?" He asked. Xrail frowned. "The rest were captured by those infernal cubes." Aretis looked down sadly.

"is there anything we can do to help? can we save them?" Firefly asked.

Aurilis shook her head. "Dunno. Never seen a contraption like it." Aretis hugged Aurilis, but went through her body. Aurilis chuckled. "It's okay, I'm here." She said reassuringly.

Xrail greeted himself to Slean. "Miss Slean, a pleasure. I've heard of your exploits." He nodded respectfully.

"Yeah after what I just went thru I think I could use a little rest......I just feel drained for some reason." He said as his scar began glowing abit dark black.

The light dragon elder walked up to Tundra. "That's a nasty looking scar, boy." He said.

"Huh?" He said as he looked at the elder. "This thing?" He said looking at it like nothing. "I've had it ever since i was young."

Slean nodded slightly to Xrail.
"well, a pleasure to meet you." she said. Firefly looked at the cube.
"Slean, didn't you say you knew what this was?"
"well, i have seen it before, but only one other time. it is rarely used, even among the evil dragons that i know. it is used to trap spirits." she said.

Rouge looked back.
"an old scar? it doesn't heal?" she asked.

"Well, I havent payed to much attention to it. But when I get mad, it begins to hurt ironically." He told her.

"hmm........" Rouge thought, as if she had heard something like this before. "...this sounds...... oddly familiar...... i'm sure Mom would know what it is...... but it does sound like mroe than just a scar to me......" she said.

"How'd you get it?" The elder asked.

Xrail nodded at Firefly. "And is there a way to free the spirit trapped inside?" He asked.

Aretis smiled at Aurilis. Then he picked up the dark cubes and put them in a bag.

" Uh really?" He asked rouge as he looked then at the elder. "Well I got this scar, when I was little. Some dark shadow dragons invaded our home and were in my home attacking my mom, i came to interfere and took the attack from one of the dragons and got this scar. My mom told me i looked a bit darker scale wise for a week but then it was gone." He explained to them. as he looked abit concerned.

The Elder 'Hmm'd and went into deep thinking, his ghost-like form almost fading completely.

Rouge 'hmm'd also, thinking as well.
"why does this sound so familiar.......?" she muttered to herself, looking away.

Slean thought, trying to remember something.
"ooh, its been so long since i saw a contraption like this, its hard to remember. but i do believe i have a book on it somewhere. now if only i could find it..."
"i can help look." Firefly offered.

Xrail nodded. "Me and my mate will help too, if you don't mind. I'd like to free our fellow comrades as quickly as possible and to rescue the ones still held captive by the dark forces." He said. Aurilis, who was listening, stepped up and took her place beside her mate.

"Uh oh, I dont like the sound of this....." He said as he looked at rouge and slean.

Aretis finished stacking the cubes nicely and then sighed. Some day, he thought.

Slean nodded.
"follow me then, everyone. the library is this way." she said, leading the way down the hallway. Rouge and Firefly followed her.

Xrail and Aurilis followed Slean.

Aretis went to find Tundra

Slean walked down the hallway, and soon passed through double-doors, walking into a large, round, library room.
"the book should be in here somewhere." she said, walking over to a bookshelf. Rouge and Firefly walked over to diffrent shelves, and started looking.

Xrail and Aurilis disappeared inside the bookshelves, taking advantage of their ghost form and scanning each book and page fairly quickly.

Slean, Rouge, and Firefly continued to look, but did so fairly slow, having to acually pick up each book and skim through it.

Xrail stuck his head out near Slean. "What is the book called?" He asked.

Slean glanced at him as she got out a book.
"i believe it was called 'Tools of Darkness' and it had a list of every contraption that evil has used over the years. it was a thick book." she said, while skimming through one.

Xrail nodded, then disappeared again. he told Aurilis and then they searched faster.

Slean and the girls continued searching.
"hey, i think i--" Rouge started. then she looked again. "uh, nevermind. false alarm." she called. then they continued thier search.

Aurilis trilled. "I think I found it." She pointed to a thick volume, being that she was unable to grab it. Xrail stood beside her peering at the book.

Slean, Rouge, and Firefly walked over to them.
"is that it, Mom?" Rouge asked.
"looks big enough." Firefly pointed out.
"let me see..." Slean said, grabbing the book. she took a deep breath, blowing the dust off of it, and wiping it with her paw. she then grinned. "ah, yes. this is it. Tools of Darkness." she grinned. she then opened it to the list, and quickly skimmed it.
