As Eli and Jackor rode back to base, Jackor thought of something. "Why are you so determined to chase these tow down?" Eli shook his head. "I dunno. I just, I want to." With that, they rode on in silence.

Karkat leaned back against the wall as Equius sighs.

"They're so intent on chasing us down for some reason." Karkat says, shaking his head.

Jackor looked at Eli as they were walking to the commander to report. "There has to be a reason." He said. Eli looked at Jackor. "I don't know why, I just, I feel like I need to get them because, they feel so familiar to me." He sad.

Karkat looked towards Equius.
"I want to ask him why." He says.

Equius blinks in surprise.
"What did you say, Karkat?!"

Karkat looks seriously at his gang partner.
"I mean it. You stay here, and I'll look into it. I have the Shadows if I need them." He says.

Eli and Jackor were training in the training field. "Eli?" Jackor asked "Yeah." He said. "Are you sure there isn't a true reason for chasing after those thugs." Jackor asked. Eli looked at him "Well, besides because they've slipped from my grasp twice already. It's because I want to learn how they're so good." He said.

Karkat had slipped past the guard towers easily. They couldn't see him in the Shadows anyway. He knew where the main building was and he looked at the keypad that kept the door shut. He'd have to wait for Eli to come out. He hid in the Shadows in wait.

Eli was walking out of the Mina building, going for a walk. "Huh." He sighed. "I wish those cowards would stay in one spot for once so I could battle them.

Karkat bit his lip in anger at Eli's comment, but wouldn't show himself.
"You're calling us cowards? Gee and when I took the time to come all the way here!" He barks.

Eli looked around, surprised at the sudden voice of Karkat. "Come out!" He yells all around him.

Karkat growls.
"No way. I came to talk, not get turned in."

Eli relaxes a bit. "If this is all a trick to get me to lower my guard so you can kill me, Jackor will hunt you down for the rest of your life."

"Anyway," he said "what do you want to talk about?"

Karkat takes a breath before slowly appearing out of the Shadows.
"I won't hurt you. I just want to ask why you are so intent on chasing us." He says.

Eli sighed. "Well, besides for the fact that I'm preset ant, and you two have evaded my every time we've encountered you," he says smirking "I'm probably just curious as to why you're doing what you do, and how you do that shadow stuff."

"I come from a small lab in the poor parts of Xenos. I'm able to use shadows and Equius has strength because of the lab. I'm a thief because I live in the poor parts of town." Karkat says slowly, trying to keep from giving too much info away, like how the lab was set up, and the tests they had run.

Lab? Eli thought Weird. "What do you mean by lab?" I ask curious as to which lab did this to innocent children, and wanting to make them pay.

Karkat thinks over his answer.
"It was just a small lab in Xenos. Nothing to burden yourself with. I lived there until it burned down."

Eli shrugged. "Eh, either way. I still want to know the people who did this. I'll make them pay for their crimes." I say.

Karkat hesitated.
"They...died. Equius' companion burned the building and the scientists..."

Eli nodded. "Well, they git what they deserved." He said. "Hey, ya you know, I bet some of the scientist here could cure you and Equius." He said honestly.

Karkat backs up a step.
"No way. I...I volunteered for the experiment. I wanted to be this way."

I nod. "Eh, it was worth a shot." I say, giving a slight chuckle. "Now what?" I ask Karkat.

Karkat shrugs.
"I should get back to Equius. Is there anything else you want to ask?" He says, beginning to fade into the Shadows.

"Well," he said "what does it feel like to do that shadow thing?" Eli asked, truly curious.

Karkat laughs and grabs Eli's wrist, sucking him into the Shadows. The world goes black and cold, causing anyone not used to the atmosphere in the Shadows, to shiver. Silohuetts of guards walked by the two without a glance, because they were unseeable. Everything in the Shadows was outlined, there was no color.

Eli shivered, looking around the shadows. "This is so cool!" Eli yells out, noticing the guards walk by. "Hey," Eli said "why don't you and Equius join our guard!?" He asked.

Karkat frowns.
"And what? Be used like dogs because of our powers?"

Eli frowned also. "Well," he said "you wouldn't be being used like dogs, per say." He said. "More like, best buds?" He said almost like a question.

Karkat shakes his head.
"We don't want to be used...wait, are you guys chasing after a boy named Hakan?" He asks suddenly.

"Hakan?" Eli said. "The name sounds familiar...describe him a little." He Sadi, urging Karkat on.

I sit down.

"Im a loner... and wen there is somebody they are thieves... yay!"

Ross walked aimlessly.

"He's a rouge from the lab I was in. The one that burned it down." Karkat said.

Eli nods. "Ah" he said "I'm sure he's in the database somewhere. Why did you want to know?" He asked.

Alvira stands up and looks around. "I'm gonna look for those guards..."

Karkat shakes his head.
"Uh...no reason!" He said quickly.

Eli raised his eyebrow, but decided to leave him be.
"So," he said. "what now?"

Karkat sighed.
"I need to get back to Equius. He's probably thinking you've killed me by now..."

"Eh." He shrugged. "Maybe you could stop trying to kill me, and actually help people with your powers..." Eli says, trailing off.

Karkat growled before turning.
"You chased me, so I used self-defense. It's fair."

Eli shrugged.
"You seemed suspicious." He said. "Plus, I thought I recognized your face from the database." He explained.

Karkat sniffed.
"Course you have. Equius and I have robbed a few banks and stores, not just grocery markets."

"What do I do now? Guard again.... meh..." Alvira starts walking around.

Eli chuckled.
"You do realize if you used your powers for good," he said "then you'd have a luxurious life. You'd get almost everything you wanted, without stealing."

Karkat sighs.
"I'm not being used. I've been used before."

Alvira just kept on walking.... It started to become night.... "I'm starting to get sleepy.... I need to rest...."
That's alright Alvira... is it ok to take over... or does your body need rest?
"No... that's not it... spiritual tired.... you can take over if you realy want that so bad....?"
Sure, I can look for those guards for you if you want... we do have the same memory thanks to Sikaran... Good ngiht Alvira!

Alvira sits down and closes her eyes. Only for her to open them up and her eyes are red. She changes her appearance a little... more vampire like... she then walks on. Not as Alvira tho... but as Drubira.

Eli looked at Karkat.
"Used?" He asked. "We wouldn't be using you! Plus, you'd only be called in if it's absolutely necessary! You'd live almost like a King!" He was practically yelling now.

Drubira looks up in the direction of the shouting. She walked towords it.

Karkat cries slightly, turning away. His parents had always yelled and fought, it had been the main reason he had volunteered at the lab. It was an escape.
"Just...please leave us...alone." He cried softly.

Drubira walks in with a questioned look. "Um... hi?"

Eli looked at Karkat crying.
"Are you okay?" He asks concerned for what he thought was a friend.
