''calm down.'' she teased, licking his ear. ''i wont. it'll be our secret.'' she promised. ''thanks!'' he purred at last, finishing his meal. ''oh phoenixpaw!'' yowled antpaw across the clearing. ''you've got to see this!'' ''what's wrong?'' ''hurry!'' phoenixpaw glanced at wildpaw then scampered next to the brown apprentice, matching his pace. ''so, what is it-'' a massive dark brown tabby, along with another stood next to the fireclan border. yellowpaw, and silverpaw were there, along with raventail, silverclaw, flamestar and the rest of the clan. phoenixpaw took a step closer. the massive tabby glared at him. there was something so familier about him. ''you heard me flamestar, give me the boy or i'll make you and your clan crowfood!'' ''never! i swear upon starclan, that i wont do such a thing!'' ''he's only a apprentice!'' spat snowfoot, her fur bristleing. ''phoenixpaw flattened his ears. ''i'm not going anywhere, darkstar.'' he growled, unleashing his claws. the dark tabby growled. ''i'll kill you....'' he whispered. ''just like your parents.'' ''now, darkstar. we made a deal, we gave you shelter when greencough was around, we're not giving up one of our apprentices for a cat like you!'' darkstar lept on top of flamestar. the two cats clawed at eachother until the dark leader released him. gorseclaw narrowed his eyes then walked up to his leader. ''lets go.'' he insisted, snarling at both flamestar and phoenixpaw. why would they want me? i mean, i'm all fireclan...am i...? he thought as he padded over to his leader. featherwhisker, and echopaw examined him. ''he's wounded. nothing too bad though.'' he meowed. ''echopaw, fetch me some herbs.'' ''yes, featherwhisker.''

mousefang shot a hard glare at him then turned away. in the corner of his eye he noticed oakpaw, and hawkpaw. ''oakpaw? hawkpaw...?'' he mewed. ''shut up, you ouse-brain!'' he growled. ''this is all your fault! now darkclan wants to start a war with us-'' ''why don't you keep your mouths shut, and go to your dens!'' hissed wildpaw, leaping right infrontof him. ''oh, so now the she-cat is fending for the halfbreed!'' he sneered. ''and to think that i liked you....'' said okapw lowering his head. ''i don't like you! i never did!'' ''fine. stay with the halfbreed, and the kittypet.'' he growled then backed away. silverpaw, and yellowpaw padded up to him. ''are you okay?'' asked silverpaw. ''brother?'' phoenixpaw didn't reply. he sagged is shoulders. ''they're right...i am a mouse-brain....'' ''no you're not.'' antpaw reassured him. ''if you were a mouse-brain, i wouldn't have joined the clan!'' ''and if you were a mousefang, you would of been with those stupid furballs over there!'' laughed yellowpaw, sticking her tail straight up. ''but, i don't understand. why would darkstar want me...and that giant tabby next to him looked strangely familier.'' ''i don't know. i mean, you were born in this clan.'' said wildpaw, nudging his side. ''but what if i'm...'' he stammered. ''then we'll still be your friends no matter what!'' meowed silverpaw. ''yeah!'' purred antpaw.'' ''it wont be long until the next full moon.'' said phoenixpaw, changing the subject. ''yeah, only a few more moons to go!'' mewed wildpaw, raising her chin. ''what'd you suppose those bright stars are up there, every night? they seem pretty close together.'' ''i'm not sure.'' phoenixpaw admitted.
