Cassandra lowered her hand. "Aye it tis. My father left it to me. I am Captain Cassandra Marrie Jones. Welcome to the crew of the Flying dutchman." She said her cat peg mewing loudly.

"How old are you, look a bit young to be aboard with these fine gentleman" Patrick asked looking around at the crew & smiling.

"Just like that? No waivers? No Oath? No initiation through a 'Walk the Plank' sort of hazing kind of thing? Just 'Welcome Aboard!'?" Kai crossed his arms, his curiosity growing, if this girl and her crew didn't collect gold or money what did they do? He knew that Davy Jones wasn't too well known as he was shrouded in great mystery, most people believed he was just an incompetent pub owner, or a Pirate who kidnapped others for his own nefarious purposes. "I can just....Board? No questions asked? Well, I suppose that was a question....So I revoke it, I'll just show my way on board..." He wasn't about to ask too many questions, because he didn't want to get kicked out just as he was let in, he decided to let things be known to him as they happened, once they shipped off then he would do some snooping.

Kai quickly made his way up the board and unto the ship, He looked in every nook and cranny, taking in the amazing-ness of everything. It was then he heard the voices of Patrick and Caelee. Kai quickly made his way to where the recruits resided. He didn't want to interrupt but it didn't seem like there was any rousing conversation going about. "'ello, Mates."

"Ay, & you are?" Patrick asked leaning against a crate.

Kai took a step back and took a bow before those that stood before him. "The name is Rooker, Kai Rooker. Expert Marksman and Pirate lover. I am at your service if ever you need me." He stood back up and gave a slight nod to Caelee. "A pleasure, young lass." He spoke with confidence and pride in his voice, something he always tried to do as that was how his 'father' spoke. "Oh, and this little ugly guy is Rufio." He motioned to his front pocket where a small lizard was sticking its tongue out. "I'm only joking, mate, you're only slightly ugly." He chuckled before turning his attention back to the humans in front of him. "So what is all this about, this girl is forming a crew of new Pirates, but for what? A leisurely cruise throughout the seven seas? Or is there some sort of objective where she'd need so many bodies?"

"She has said nothing to me, i simply walked up & asked for recruitment, & here i am" Patrick replied & then said "I'm Patrick Deringer by the way" he said waving his right hand.

I looked at Kai "I'm Austin, I like your friend Rufio, but we know nothing about the Captain's plan" I said

Kai gave a smile "I'm 19 aswell. Nice to know we're all near the same age." Kai couldn't help but look around, he wasn't able to keep direct eye contact with any of them. "So none of us know what our true purpose aboard this ship is, none of you have a the tiniest vestige of information? Earlier the Captain told me that she isn't the kind of Pirate to go after gold so I'm intrigued as to what she wants us for."

"As long as its work, & no harm to normal folk I really don't care" Patrick replied then turned back to Caelee "At that age i suggest you be careful around here, now if ya'll don't mind i'm gonna go rest til the captain calls me" Patrick then said to them all, swinging his satch over his shoulder & started walking towards the stairs.

I looked at Caelee "So, why did you join the crew?" I asked her

"I've been fired from every job I've ever had because I made things so efficient, I wasn't needed, so when Cassandra came here, I told her I was willing to work on this ship" I explained

Kai wasn't sure he was a fan of his fellow 'Pirates'. They didn't seem to know much about what was going on and they didn't seem very Pirate-like in the least. "I'd think that if you were efficient at something then you'd be rewarded." Kai shrugged it off and then decided to take his leave from the conversation. "I'm gonna get some things before we ship off, don't leave without me, ya hear!?" With that Kai made his way off of the boat and towards the alley that his lived in, he didn't need much but there was something he did need.

Kai found his way to his underground home and rummaged through a few of his things before stuffing some gold coins and a bunch of slingshot pellets into his pouch. He then grabbed a homemade knapsack, it was green and seemingly rugged but it was put together well. In the bag were some items that he'd collected from around his home. He also grabbed his Sword and sheathed it. "Well Rufio, guess we're Pirates....But why don't I feel different? Maybe it's because I thought it would be different? The crew is fairly timid and the Captain seems bonkers...." Kai let out a sigh as he took a seat on an old rum barrel in the corner of his room. "I just always thought I'd Captain my own ship, ya know? That I'd be at the Wheel, calling orders to my crew, telling them to hoist the sail and keep lookout off the Starboard Bow! Having Sword fights!" He jumped up and imitated swinging a sword. "Saving beautiful women from monsters and reaping the benefits!" He fell back unto the hammock and mimicked making out. He jumped out of the hammock and made his way to the surface. "I don't know Rufio....I just wish things could be different, that I could be at the wheel with Tayner and you, and beautiful lasses and strong lads who would obey my every whim! I'd make evil-doers walk the plank and set the cannonballs a ablaze into other ships as we fought! Maybe one day, buddy....For now we'll have to settle, and we do a good job at that don't we?" Rufio popped out and made a squeaking noise. "Yea....We do. That's what we do, we settle. And that's okay for now, because one day we'll be rich and famous and we'll have everything we could ask for!." He put his hand next to his mouth to make it seem like he was keeping what he was about to say a secret. "Maybe even get a nice female lizard for you, pal." Kai made his way back towards the ship. He strolled down the beautiful cobblestone road. "One day...."

//Hi, I'm sorry. Are you three on the main deck or are you down below in the bunkers or something?

Patrick headed down the stairs & laid in his hammock, placing the satchel over his eyes yet still holing onto it strongly he waited & rest.

"So... Do you think Cassandra is a nice captain?" I asked

"Ok, I think she's nice too, she's willing to give us jobs even though she doesn't know us" I said

BJ stared at the bag of jewels in his hand. He could barely fathom what had just happened, it had all been so sudden and rushed. But he did know one thing. He couldn't just take these gems. Not from a pirate. Especially not a pirate who seemed anything but. He'd seen genuine concern in her eyes for that boy. And he felt sure she meant no harm to anyone, just as she'd claimed. No, she'd been after maps. Without stopping to think, he gripped the bag tightly and run toward the docks after the young lady.

Reaching the docks, he looked about, and it didn't take him long to find her. "Ma'am!" He called, rushing up to her. He shoved the bag back into her hands before she could stop him. "I can't accept this. If you want to use it to buy maps, by all means, do so. But I can't take it as a gift. I apologize for my behavior earlier, but if you do need maps, I'd be more than happy to oblige."

OOC: S-G, with that captain character you created, will she be recruiting crew members when she comes into the RP later? I'm thinking of bringing more characters into this, but that'll help me decide. Thanks!

Cassandra was a bit surprised that Bryant had been so denying to her offering and she blinked a few times out of surprise. Her expression of surprise faded into a genuine smile. "I have about 30 minutes before we have to leave the docks. If.. Ye would, show me to the old mans grave... Its a shame i couldnt say hello to me fathers old friend." She said. "And... I saw scars on the door... what happened.. If i may ask ye that.." Cassandra added.

OOC: Alright, thanks S-G, thanks. I'll probably be adding two more characters.

BJ suddenly felt as if he'd been punched in the gut. His palms felt sweaty and his mouth dry. He hardly wanted to the relive the terrors of that night. They were better left forgotten. Unable to find his voice, he cleared his throat. Nodding eastward, he finally said, "The grave site's this way." He started off without another word. He didn't know why she was so interested in the grave site, and wasn't sure he really wanted to take her, but he needed a distraction.

BJ lead the pirate captain up the street and out of town. It wasn't long before they reached a small out of the way and secluded cemetery. Here was where BJ's master was buried, along with several of his relatives. BJ nodded to his master's grave stone. "That one there," he said to the pirate captain beside him.

As he stood there with her, looking at the stone, all the memories came back in a whirling blur. Closing his eyes against the threatening tears, he finally answered the young lady's question. "He was murdered... I'm not entirely sure what happened, but there had been a struggle, and he was dying when I found him." He paused to shake his head. "I still don't know who it was, or why they did it..."

Silence embraced them as he continued to stare at the stone, surrounded by the painful memories.

Cassandra walked over and removed her hat as she approached his grave. She knelt down and said a quiet blessing then pulled her fathers pocket watch out and opened it. It was actually a picture of the map maker with her father from many years before she was born. She held it close then dug a small hole and buried the pocket watch at the old mans grave. "I hope you and my father share your stories." She whispered before getting up and dusting off her clothes. "I have done what needed to be done. Thank you... And.. If you have any idea at all who took this mans life. Please share. It hurts me to hear my fathers old friend died so restlessly." She said placing a hand on his shoulder. "Loss is hard. I lost my father in a storm. He drowned to the bottom of the deep blue.. But i know one thing for sure. They want us to move on. And live a good life. If you ever need me let me know. Alright? And ye can call me Cassandra." She said keeping a gentle tone throughout her speech. "and. Bryant, if ye wish, ye are more then welcome aboard." She said turning to return to the ship. "Oh. And its alright to cry. Real men do." She said and continued walking.

I looked around more of the ship "This is my home I guess" I said to myself

BJ stood staring at the grave in complete shock over what he'd just seen. First, the young lady - Cassandra, she'd called herself - had done what he'd never expected by burying a pocket watch by his master's grave, and when she'd turned to him and touched his shoulder, giving him words of comfort, he wanted to pull back, but couldn't. He was rooted to the spot, a chill running through him. He'd never felt such comfort and concern from any save his master's family. Thinking on her words, he touched a hand to the grave as he did every time he visited it, as if he were reaching out to take his master's hand one more time. With a nod of farewell, he took a breath and turned to head home, still in a daze.

Name: Gemma Jenkins
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Personality: Gemma is quiet and calm. She's very logical and likes to think things through before acting. She's kind and lighthearted, seeing good in the world as she was raised to be her mother. She's quite curious and can be a bit naive, as she was always protected from the world by her family. She can be quite cunning when she has to, and is quite good with words and flattery, though it is usually genuine. Being of a quiet nature, it is very easy for her to sneak around unseen. She's no spy, but could very easily be one.
Back story: Gemma grew up with her siblings to a wealthy family, but she never knew what their wealth came from, it being hidden from her by her father. She grew up with strict structure and only the best lessons. She loved the lessons, but her favorite thing to do was to sneak away with her twin brother to play together outside for hours. They were both curious and would go on countless adventures together. It was their way to get away from all the structure of home. The beauty of the world around them always fascinated Gemma, and she would always point it out to her brother. He was less interested, but would always take it in. When Gemma was 13, tragedy struck. Her family was targeted by assassins. Her uncle was there at the time, and he helped her to escape, but no one else did. She looked back with tears in her eyes as her family home and everything and everyone in it burned to the ground. She had lost everything, but was grateful for her uncle. He eagerly took her in to raise as his own daughter. He was just as wealthy as her family, so she never truly lost her wealth. Still, that had never mattered to her. What had mattered more was the love of a family. She had that still with her new family, but she still mourned her real family. Still, she held to the hope of knowing that life went on and that beauty never faded, no matter how dark life seemed. She enjoyed life with her uncle and his family, continuing her lessons and learning much. Her uncle was a bit less strict than her father, so she was able to go into town more often, learning even more. Her life went on, and she was happy.
Appearance: Gemma has long black hair, which she usually wears in a braid, pinned up. She has dark eyes, lightly tanned skin, and wears a long green dress, as well as a golden locket with her family's picture inside. (When she joins the RP, her attire will change to be a white, long-sleeved shirt, green tunic, tan trousers, and brown boots. She will also carry with her a brown satchel with supplies.)
Weapon of Choice: None. Gemma hates the thought of fighting in any way, though she does keep with her a sword given her by her brother.

Name: Jerome 'Jerry' Jenkins
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Personality: Jerry is rash and reckless. He cares nothing for human life, thinking all people dumb and untrustworthy. He believes everyone is out to fend for themselves and so does the same. It's survival of the fittest for him, though there is a very small part of him that still remembers how precious human life is. He can care for others, if he gets to know them well enough, but usually only cares for himself, becoming just like the people he hates so much. He's sophisticated and smart, but it is hidden under his gruff nature. He's blunt and brutally honest, telling it how it is. He's disciplined and structured, always having an objective.
Back story: Jerry grew up with his siblings in a very large house with a very large property. He was the son of a wealthy family of slave traders. He never took his wealth for granted and enjoyed the prominent life he lived. The only downside were all the rules and the strict structure he was forced to adhere to. Still, he loved his life, and his parents, strict as they were. At the age of 13, everything he ever had was taken away from him in one night. Assassins, most likely sent by a rival slaving company, came to kill off his family, then they started a fire, sending everything up in smoke. Jerry barely escaped with his life. No one else survived. The servants and his family were all gone. Jerry fled for his life, not knowing where the assassins had gone off to, and knowing if they saw him alive they'd come back to finish the job. Having a small amount of money on him, he drowned his sorrows in rum and plotting revenge. He vowed to find out who was responsible and take them down. His heart became cold and dark, and within a few months, through his spying and thieving, a pirate captain found him and liked what he saw. He took the boy in as part of his crew and Jerry took to the seas like a true pirate. The adventure of the seas and of pirating was enough to get him to forget about his past, but not completely. He soon took to it so well that he left the crew to start his own, becoming a captain when he was only 15. Three years later, he got word of a valuable treasure and his past came rushing back to him in a flash. He went after the map to the treasure with one of his men, but the hunt for the treasure nearly drove him mad. He became obsessed with it, though it seemed impossible to find. A mutiny took place and he lost his ship. Tossed overboard without his precious map, everything being striped from him once again, he came back to his senses. His past was gone and should remain that way. All it ever did was bring him harm, and he had found a new life that brought him just as much wealth, and a lot more pleasure. Now he's looking to join another worthy crew of pirates.
Appearance: Jerry is average height for his age, is very strong, and has dark hair hanging loosely that reaches just above his shoulders. He has piercing brown eyes, tanned skin, and a burn mark on his right leg from the fire so long ago. He wears a black jacket over a black tunic, black trousers, and black boots. He wears a belt that always has his trusty spyglass attached.
Weapon of Choice: Whatever is available to him at the time. He usually carries with him his cutlass and two black pistols hidden in his boots.
Extra: Gemma's twin brother. He is the one who murdered BJ's master, though none but he know it.

Cassandra had stopped by the map makers home once more and gave the small pouch of gems to the old mans wife and gave a small locket to the child before wishing them a good life and returning to the docks. She walked up the ramp. "All hands to the deck!" She shouted to make sure everyone heard her. She fixed her hat and stood behind the steer of the ship and looked out over the deck waiting for the crew to gather.

Patrick awoke to the sound of Cassandra yelling, & thus got outta bed, satchel over arm, & went up to the deck.

I ran over and stood infront of Cassandra "Austin reporting for duty captain" I said

BJ moved about the shop in a daze, Cassandra's words echoing through his head. They'd want us to move one... Move on? That's exactly what he was doing, wasn't it? He was running the shop, taking care of business. If he hadn't moved on, he'd have stayed in mourning, allowing the shop to fall to ruin. He continued about his work, putting several maps away. As he did, his thoughts once again went to Cassandra. She'd wanted to buy maps from him, and never had. Perhaps he should take some to her.

Angry and frustrated, he shoved the maps into their place. Why couldn't he get her off his mind? She was a pirate. Yet she was unlike any pirate he'd ever seen. And they shared a similar story. She'd lost her father, just as he had. Was that why he couldn't stop thinking about her?

Ye are more than welcome aboard...

Closing his eyes, he ran his fingers through his hair, taking a breath. When he opened his eyes, they came to rest on his master's sword. He'd hung it back in its proper place on the wall. Moving up to it, he caressed it gently. "You wanted me to have it," he said to his master's memory, then sighed. "But certainly not to fight alongside a pirate."

Taking down the sword, he swung about. It felt good in his hands. Realizing what he was doing, he dropped the tip of it to the floor, taking another deep breath. What am I doing? He questioned himself.

Glancing behind him at the shop, he took it in. He was a map-maker, and it had been years since he'd charted new territory. Besides, he was still no closer to an answer on who had killed his master. Joining a pirate might be a good way to get that answer. Especially a pirate who seemed as interested in the answer as he.

Taking another breath, he grabbed the scabbard for the sword he held and raced out the door before he changed his mind, reprimanding himself as he did so.

Reaching Cassandra's ship, BJ paused, taking it in, having one last chance to change his mind. Cassandra was looking over her crew. "Wait!" he shouted as he hurried up the ramp. He stopped before her and bowed. "I'd like to offer my services as a map-maker. You came to my shop for maps and never received them due to my abruptness, so now, please allow me to make up for that by staying aboard and aiding you in your travels."

Kai seemed to take forever to get to the ship, he kept finding himself stopping and taking in certain surroundings. He'd never truly been out to sea before, he'd been sailing before but never actually gone out to sea for an indefinite period of time. It wasn't that he was nervous, it was just that something he had always wanted to do was coming up and it would change the way he lived and saw things and he wanted to take in as much as he could so he could remember. Finally Kai made it to the ship, walking up the wooden board that served as a ramp, but not before a man with a sword came dashing past and onto the ship. Kai didn't pay too much attention to it, he knew that Cassandra had been recruiting members so it seemed to be a part of the norm or so he assumed. As Kai boarded the ship he could see the man bowing before Cassandra at the wheel of the ship. "Formal. I would've curtsied." He said to Rufio jokingly before making his way to where his 'Captain' stood. Though he didn't consider her his Captain, he only considered her his Landlord so to speak. He knew nothing about her and what he could presume of her methods he wasn't a fan of. He wanted to hunt for gold, that's why he wanted to be a pirate most of all, because if he had gold he could cure his father. As Kai stood on the upper deck where the wheel was located as was the case with all ships such as the one he stood on he raised an eyebrow in intrigue at the new arrival, or rather the newest arrival. He felt like introducing himself but he decided to stay silent for the time being, something he was quite good at despite not being a fan of silence. Kai thought that if the newcomer wanted to speak to him he would so he just let him be with Cassandra and awaited her orders.

Patrick coming up from the stairs witness as everyone got into place, & he simply walked over to the edge of the ship pulling a bit of bread out of his satch & taking 2 to 5 bites off of it & placing it back in his satchel & leaning against the edge & relaxing his arms on it waiting for Cassandra to call his name.

Cassandra stood behind the wheel and then smiled seeing Bryant come onto the ship. "Aye! I'd be more then honored to have ye aboard! Welcome to the crew Bryant." She said. She looked out at the rest of the crew. "alright! Get ready to weigh anchor we are setting sail!" Cassandra looked at Kai. "What ye want lad? Go help with the rest of the crew!" She said not getting why he thought he was allowed by the wheel. She looked over the rails. "Bryant! Join me will ye?" She called to him returning her look to Kai. "Dont just stand around lad get moving!" She said the other crew members already getting out large oars to get them away from the docks.

After a few moments Chancler, the young boy ran back up on deck and up to cassandra. "Hey laddy! How ye be fairin off. My uncle inst too bad is he?"

"He smells like eggs and fish cassie!" Chancler said causing cassandra to laugh.

I walked up to Chancler "Should I take him below deck captain?" I asked before looking at the little boy "I'm Austin"

Cassandra looked at austin with a protective glint in her eyes. "You wont touch the boy. If anything you will treat chancler with more respect then you show me. He has full freedom to be where he wants, when he wants unless i say so." Cassandra said holding chancler close to her.

"Ok captain, I'm sorry" I said before looking at Chancler "So you know, I want to be your friend little one" I said before walking away

Chancler clung to Cassandras jacket and stuck his tongue out at Austins 'little one' comment. He looked up at cassandra. "Im not too short am i?" He asked.
Cassandra smiled and chuckled. "Nah, youll grow up lad. I promise ye that."

Patrick walked upon where the other crew were getting out oars & grabbed one himself, & got into position with the rest, waiting for everyone to start rowing.

I walked under the deck and went to Patrick and sat next to him "Well, I might be thrown overboard tonight" I said with a sigh

"Nah, captain needs yeh, keep your chin up & a little less on the charm, a tiny bit with the captain, you'll be fine" Patrick said oar in hand.

"I was trying to be nice to that little boy she has aboard... I guess it wasn't the best idea... Why does everyone row these oars anyway? It would be easier to have a large spinning wheel on each side that one person controlled" I said

"Yeah being really nice might nit be the best mong these, gentlemen" he said looking round "Maybe she wants to get the most out of her crew" Patrick replied shrugging.

BJ nodded to Cassandra, then watched the bustling crew. It felt odd for him to be aboard. He'd been on plenty of ships, but he'd never get used to not helping the crew, and this wasn't an ordinary ship. This was a pirate ship. As Cassandra called to him, he kept watching the crew, fighting the urge to join in. Slowly, and with a deep breath, he moved up to her. "Yes, ma'am? What can I help you with?" Before she could answer, the young lad ran up on board. Seeing him was all the assurance BJ needed that he'd made the right choice to join the crew. He liked the boy, and was glad that he could be near him.

Cassandra looked at him. "Friend, No need for formalities really. Call me cassandra. Be my comrad not my crew." She said her voice kind. She pulled a large blank scroll. "So.. Ye think ye can chart the trip? We be headin' for tortuga. My father left somethings there."

I was laying out the plans for the improvement in my head as I walked up to Cassandra "Captain, I have an idea on how to make the ship move better and save the crew's energy" I said

Cassandra looked at him. "Are ye saying you dont like the way me crew works lad?!" She questioned. Her cat growling from her shoulder.

Chancler looked up at Cassandra and then at Austin. "Hey... This was her fathers ship... I wouldnt suggest changes.. She is very touchy on that subject..." He said.

"Sorry Captain! I just have this strange thing where I have to make things more efficient, I don't understand it myself to be honest... That's why I was fired from every other job I've had... I'm sorry for trying to suggest a change to your father's boat, I understand it means the world to you" I said before looking at Chancler "Thank you for telling me before I made her madder"
