Me? I'm buying all of the traps. Whatever I don't use for TT, I can use them for the next game if they still use the traps. I wouldn't be surprised if they decide on a new gimmick. I hope not, because what else can they introduce as the next gimmick?

I don't need my mind to be blown, but I expect a decent toy innovation and two or more game innovations. They've been depending too much on the toys...time to concentrate on the game.

Sounds good to me. I remember Elder Scrolls would release a great game and do maybe one $30 expansion and be done with it. Sure Skylanders is not bad and the collectibility of the figurines is cool but it would be nice if they started tilting the game quality vs cost ratio more in the game quality than just releasing figures just for the act of releasing figures. Over 50 traps, many of them superfluous, 16 minis which do nothing new but talk in a different octave and look cute and then there are the Eon's Elite, $25 for a nice box and tweaking a few stats. A little more game, a little less quantity.

I have to say I'm really surprised this topic is still going. I get that people have gone a little off-topic and that's OK, but the lull in releases is not new at all. This downtime happened with all the previous games, which makes me wonder if it is the newer collectors that are upset. I even said to my wife before Christmas, "OK, I'm going to get the light and dark packs, and with maybe one or two exceptions, I'm done buying until late February or March." I got Love Potion Pop Fizz and the Rebel Lob Goblin trap since then, and I've got all the ones already released so...

I just can't believe the outrage when this is the fourth year in a row things have shaken out exactly like this.

...and like I said before, Skylanders collectors have it easy when compared to amiibo people. Extremely limited runs, a scalping problem fifty times worse than any Skylanders has ever seen and discontinued characters... it is a total disaster. You know Roslina from Mario Bros.? She is a Target exclusive that came out this past Sunday, and most Targets didn't receive enough to sell to everyone who had lined up in the freezing cold before opening. As if that wasn't bad enough, there is an internal Target memo going around saying that the stock they got on Sunday was it - there will be no more Rosalinas. Ever. They are discontinued. The same thing may be happening with the Toys R Us Lucario exclusive, and Best Buy probably won't even get enough Meta Knights to honor the preorders, let alone anyone who walks in off the street... and Shulk at Gamestop will probably share the same fate.

Kind of puts a 1-2 month wait into perspective, doesn't it?

I'm an amiibo collector as well as a Skylander collector - the only amiibo I'm missing is Marth, and just like I've always done with Skylanders, I refuse to pay any more than MSRP for any toy. Paying scalpers only makes the problem worse.

It doesn't really bother me that much, but the Kaos Trap stuff is a new sort of thing for Skylanders, and I don't think they made good decisions in that aspect. It's been the perfect setup for scalpers though.

Well, remember that Amiibos are at their first time.

Skylanders had its distribution problems too, back in the SA period.

But yes, having all the characters available from start, or even just in a 4 or 5 weeks wouldn't probably stop the complaints.

Now is "I couldn't complete the game until Knight Light and Knight Mare came out! Dumb choice...".

That way it would have been "What's the point of go buying more Skylanders, next month, if I already have all the ones I want...? What am I going to do, until Skylanders 5 is released, since I already 100% the game and maxed out each character? Dumb choice...".

With the traps, I do think they didn't handled them in the best way possible.
But again, it's their first time releasing single packs of Items that are not unique playable characters, and you will probably have all the traps you want, in a couple months.

Yes, even the Kaos one.

The fans of this franchise should have learned to be patient, by now.

I'm patient for Wave 4 & 5, but not for Bat Spin. The giveaway is already a month past the end & still no sign of High Five or Bat Spin. At least when they did the Hot Dog variant, Wave 2 was completely released. Yet, I do not get it when Wave 3 is split in the US but not everywhere else.

You aren't going to get Bat Spin/High Five prior to Wave 4 in the US without importing. The whole idea of a Wave 3.5 case assortment was pure fan speculation. The first cases of Wave 3 shipped prior to the end of the contest by which they were contract bound. It is very unlikely they are going to adjust case contents in the US just for this, and simply wait for Wave 4 where they are confirmed to be included. While Bat Spin did not actually end up in the contest, these cases are packed months ago - so it may have been considered.

Actually, TRU released Wave 2 on 10/7/2014. Everyone else in the US got them a week later. Yet it's wave 2 that has been sitting on the shelves & pegs, with Wave 1 & 2 traps on the pegs. Wave 1....not much. Mostly Legendary Jawbreaker, some regular Jawbreakers, once in a while the occasional Wild Fire, Wallop or Gear Shift. Plenty of NE, but not as much as MoM.
As for Wave 3? Not much.

I have seen almost no Wave 3 characters yet at my local Walmart or Target. I was actually surprised when I found the light and dark packs at my local Walmart a couple of weeks ago, because ever since Christmas the shelves there have been practically BARE. No Trap Masters, no new characters. The only constant stock seems to be water traps, mini packs, and, well, if you're still looking for a single Wind-Up, then you might want to visit my store, because we have a bunch of them just sitting there on the shelf! Yet in the DI section, there is a plentiful amount of characters and packs, and I have even seen a couple of the newest characters that released last month there!

My Target has a better stock, but it's really only Wave 1/2. They also have no traps besides that element that starts with W.

I guess I shouldn't be complaining though, because this also happened last year with Swap Force (but in a different Walmart). I remember there being no swappers other than Hoot Loops (enchanted and regular) I only saw Wave 3 by the time Wave 4 released, and the stock after Christmas was just overall bad, like it is now. However, as the year went on, the stock generally improved in that store and there became more of a selection. Maybe that's whaf will happen this year too.

Yeah, we all can have ants in our pants. 30 full days with no figures is actually quite a bit of time.

Sure it is.

"Release Wave 1 and 2 in the US simultaneously on Day 1 and is all part of the plan.
But wait a month to release two figures and everybody lose their minds"

So many things about this game upset me. First is the Kaos Trap. Now I have one myself but it's unforgivable how they've handled one of the biggest selling points for this game, to play as Kaos. The Kaos Trap should have been the most abundant trap in the set and it's been the hardest to find if you don't want to pay $50-$75 (none of which Activision sees beyond the initial $6). I also have a feeling that the traps will not be future forward technology. I don't KNOW this but I have a strong feeling that it's Trap Team only. They have to know that sales on the traps will plummet if this is the case and I have a feeling we might not get an announcement until around E3 because of this. Time will tell though. The way they are apparently now handling the Dark and Light packs is another blunder if they are in fact already discontinuing them. There are still a ton of people that don't have these. This was also the buggiest game of the franchise. I still have a Spanish language track playing through my sub-woofer...Why the "F" hasn't that, as well as many others, been fixed. Tons of camera glitches, crashes clipping glitches, etc. I was going to get this for my PS3 but I decided against it since it wasn't a very positive experience.

Infinity and Skylanders were neck and neck in terms of sales for their latest installments. I know in my house I can't get anyone to even play Skylanders. Plus with Star Wars coming out this year Skylanders might be left behind this year in my household. We've played a ton of Toy Box (the Adventure pack still suck but ehh). Plus playing as Vader and Boba Fett will totally make me geek out. The ONLY thing that will make me even consider the next Skylanders is that V.V. is back at the helm. They really need to win back some consumer trust on this one because I know I'm not the only one that's been a little conservative with Trap Team.

I totally agree with this. They should focus more on the game next time.
