This picture might need some explaining ...

My version of a shape-changing being is probably different from yours. The most common breed of shape-changing creatures are generally called Shape-shifters. Shape-shifters change their bodies into a way that looks like something else.
MY Shape-Changers are different. Very different.
My shape-changers absorb souls from whatever being they choose, and when they have that soul, they may access it and the host's body will morph to the shape that suits said soul. This requires a certain type of magic that is very rare, and can only be accessed by those who are born with the ability (or, in Rianua's case, re-born). This magic is a calming magic that calms souls and allows whoever wields it to take souls into the host's body.
But having many souls in one body is difficult, but the magic helps a great deal. What would happen normally if you stuffed a bunch of souls into one body is that the souls would fight one another for a dominant position over the host, and host would very quickly age and slowly die. The magic in shape-changers, though, calms the souls so that they work together, whichever form they are in the soul of that form comes forward and becomes the dominant soul. It may access other soul's abilities (like Origin Rianua could breathe fire or something if she wanted to by tapping into Dragon Rianua's ability to breathe elements), and everything is in harmony.

All this magic and peace comes with a price, though. Shape-changers have to have something that keeps the magic going. If they do not, the magic will wear off, and thus they will die. So, they must have a drive - a purpose. You may have heard Rianua talking about how her purpose is to find her brother, Thorn. This drive keeps her alive. These purposes also solve many problems a shape-changer might face. Shape-changers, so long as they have their purpose, cannot die. Their bodies will heal wounds using the magic inside them, and it's very difficult for them to fall ill, and is they do they will always recover. The more this purpose consumes or becomes close to the shape-changer, the more quickly they will heal, recover, and the harder it is to end them.

Another thing Shape-changers can do is to destroy souls. They don't like doing it, so it is very rare that it ever happens. They enter another being's body, and simply tear apart the very fabric of their existence - their souls. There have been accounts of Shape-changers consuming, or eating, souls, but that has never been proven as a fact. If asked, they deny that they eat souls.
When they enter another being's body, they usually look something like ... that. *points at the picture above* But with different features depending on what forms they have gathered up.

I haven't started him yet. I have a lot of stuff to do now that my mom is dragging me to college with her (I'm not going to school there, so I find it pointless).

There's a lot wrong with that one, mainly because I'm not familiar with canine structure and anatomy. I should probably start learning.
