S2 Eruptor, Prism Break and Lightning Rod all came out today. Stealth Elf too, but we already had Legendary.
EDIT: Oh, and S2 Crystaleer rules. I have A-tier inklings about this one. He has a strangely effective combo tactic, which I'll describe below, and the superior defensive prowess we all always loved about him in the first one. Anyway, onto the combo: First, obviously, blast foe with laser. (1 hit) Follow up the laser with the pulse for a second, strong hit. (2 hits) At this point, jam your secondary attack button to drop crystals, and they will automatically land where your laser pulse just connected--right on top of your opponent. Basically, being chained with the pulse gives them a decent pseudo-homing effect. Depending on size, arena, and spatial factors, all three can hit at once (between 3-5 hit combo), and you can easily drop a second wave of them after the first locks your opponent down a little (between 4-8 hit combo). This is simply a ton of damage, and very hard to avoid. Excellent field AND statistical defense, high damage and consistent auto-target properties are a tough combination. |

^ Not at all! His Wow Pow does next to nothing for Lord of the Lightning, but Typhoon Titan is buff now. He's not going to get quite the bump Eruptor or Prism Break do, I'd expect, but he's on the rise. A well-played Typhoon Titan can now actually take out the bulk of the Earth characters, and that's huge for him. Haven't done much testing beyond that, but very favorable impressions. I might even have been wrong to say C and not B earlier. His Wow Pow charges quickly, automatically chains with your plain bolts by just holding down the button, ticks rapidly, and you can move while executing it. If I had to compare it to anything, I'd say... it's like a pseudo-Eldritch Beam without the homing properties and infinite sustainability, but with far faster DPS.
Not a disappointment at all, unless you're trying to do Lightning Lord. But I don't know who would waste S2's potential on that... S1 is a fine Lightning Lord, for how much that build uses his Wow Pow. My saying it was a worse move than Grand Lightning wasn't an insult at all (Grand Lightning is quite nice), but rather, to say that even though his Wow Pow isn't as good, it's still eons better than anything Typhoon Titan has ever had before. Finally something to actually back up his defensive superiority on offense. |

Um, rocketeer is by far superior in pvp. The fingerguns dont really matter, you can run away and kill them with the rockets. And, if the opponent lets you, aim and kill them.

Abosultely none of the positions on this tier list are "my choices" what so ever. This is a collaborative project based on the opinions and research of everyone else on the forum. I'm just the guy who collects them up.
I still feel confused about what to do with Series 2 Prism Break, so I'd like to see some clear-cut information. This combo-ing ability that Tashiji has described is definately something worth researching.

Got S2 today. I haven't maxed him out yet, but his Wow Pow is amazing!
His Lava Barf continuously does 36 damage to your opponent (around 6 times per barf), it charges up quite quick, and it doesn't decelerate or end his speed when moving. I'm not fully done researching, but I think it could make him a real threat now and may push Magmantor a little higher than D, same with Volcanor. It does have a short range though. Video and full 2 cents on him shall come soon.

I think Sunburn was moved a bit too low on Blaze Dragon. He should have stayed B tier as if a close range character gets near him then hes as good as dead. But he cannot compete with A and S tier well and he is too good for C and below. I would move Blaze Dragon back up to B tier as he is just too powerful for C Tier.

Not Stump Smash and Bash. What Sunburn lacks on this path is speed, the grand blaze makes him move SO slowly and anyone could run away with ease, even Prism Break who ate 2 whole boxes of pizza in one moring (lol). The Intense heat is also the only way he can actually do some damage, his other 2 attacks are kind of weak.

hot head oil baron is A. his dmg output is amazing. the laa rain makes sure they wont come near, and the meteor does 100 dmg, taking a lot of hp. he compares with tree rex laserer, dino rang, and pook blade saint stealth elf. he doesnt compare with slam bam and voodood, as they can do more dmg per second than ht head, but it's still very close.

I may be getting S2 Lightning rod for Christmas, I plan on doing some good testing with both paths. I would imagine his wow pow would be somewhat helpful for Lightning lord as it seems to help him at melee range, but it probably is a lot better for Typhoon titan. Does Eruptor's wow pow function the same way, except stronger but much shorter ranged?
|
Tashiji Yellow Sparx Gems: 1453 |
#1328 Posted: 02:50:32 23/12/2012
^ That's more or less exactly how Eruptor's functions. You also retain normal movement speed as Eruptor, while slowing slightly as Rod. Each has drawbacks and strengths.

Predicting S2 Volcanor Eruptor ends up in A-tier. He already had next to no close-range weakness, and his Wow Pow is incredible. A quick tip for anyone else who happens to be testing S2 Eruptor and reads this: Your Wow Pow needs no charge time at all. All you need to do is hold the button for a split second longer than it takes to shoot the lava ball before releasing, making lava barf deployment as instantaneous as any other attack. You should only be holding the button for more than a split second if you intend to walk, in which case, hold it all the time--Eruptor moves at the same speed when charging Lava Barf as he does while walking normally, so you can always have the attack ready. It all just works incredibly well.
He's still too slow to tangle with some of the true upper-end characters, but in our current (minimal; barely any time at our disposal) testing, he really eats through B-tier in almost embarrassing fashion. I can't imagine this beast being below A, but please test more if you have the figure. |

^BUT The turrets are easy to destroy in PvP, so they're still not super awesome. The self-destructions of the tanks are useless, because they are short-ranged and it's not easy hitting your opponent with them. Even if you do get hit by the explosions, they don't do much damage. Also, the mines are useless without Operator. You only throw one at a time and they're easy to avoid.
Gearhead belongs in C or maybe even D

Yeah, Operator's triple mine toss and five-mine Combo C are why she ranks as high as she does--she can protect the turrets (and herself) on that path. While the other is supposedly devoted to turrets, you can't offer them the same level of protection, so Operator may well be better at running turret offense than the alleged turret path itself. Which is really more of a tank path, to be honest, and the tank itself is plagued by issues.

I do believe both of sprockets paths are horrible, she is horrible against long ranged characters, and her combos are hard to aim, except for the 3rd combo, but mines are easy to avoid, so I don't think she should be any higher than the c rank

pop fizz's soul gem really helps. both paths. and, ive been testing, and no matter what arena, pop fizz almost always beats drobot. try it! i have no idea why, but pop fizz always wins. ive been both characters, with no heroics, full upgrades, both level 8, and pop fizz wins. just like the slam bam>ignitor matchup.

Controller where you can hold a button down for a "turbo" effect. Turbo meaning as fast as the game itself will allow. Common feature in some third-party controllers, but getting more rare. Uber cheap to not have to charge at all though, and that's what turbo allows.

Series 1 forest ninja is a definite D tier at our house, so obviously if S2 forest ninja is to be placed in E tier S1 will be too.. I dont find her that terrible, she can be a little hard to catch, and can rack up some fine damage with the scarecrows. The key to using her is to avoid using her like a melee juggernaut(unless when you are fighting someone like Gill grunt or flameslinger) and use her enhanced scarecrows that can actually deal damage on that path.

Maybe you just don't use her properly (no offense), I know how much you hate Sprocket. I find her combos relatively easy to aim, it was ridiculous at first but I then got used to them (especially the power surge my favorite one, it hits people on platforms!). She did pretty well facing off against far-shooting guys for me on Operator; the turrets/tank, mines, and the power surge combo came in handy in spite of her low speed and medium range, the landmine golf soul gem helped too (although it has a bit of a poor aim). When you can throw 3 mines at once, they become a little harder to dodge up close and I keep on spamming them forever. Gearhead is awful though, with only one mine it's totally useless. I say keep Operator in A, though Gearhead belongs in C or D.

Problem is, the shaking makes him immobile and vulnerable to attack. I rarely use it, because I can't move when using it and I let my guard down. What lacks is speed and health, my wins like 60% of PvP matches. He's kind of average classed IMAO. Best of the Beast does somewhat poorly for me in PvP, low speed and range are a REAL bad combination with his low health, almost as low as Ignitor's and Sprocket's (their main weaknesses if you ask me). It was fun, but even though he does so much damage, he's really slow in Beast form and doesn't have a wide-range. Mad Scientist is only slightly above average in my experience. He has a better range and is more versatile than on Best of the Beast, but is still slow and has low health. Not saying Pop Fizz is bad for PvP, but in my experience he's not that good. Best of the Beast is kinda lame and Mad Scientist is just good, nothing special.
