Sally: *waking up* Huh...?

Silver: Hey. Your awake. *coughs a bit*

Sally: What's wrong? You don't look so good.

Silver: Yeah. I know. After being corrupted, I guess I got a side effect.

Sally: Ok...

Silver: *clears throat* Anyways...
IceWind: *wakes up* Can you two be more annoying? I'm trying to sleep here...

Sally: Whatever, Ice. It's morning, we're aloud to talk. It's not like we're screaming.

Wanderist: Annnd here we go.

IceWind: *snorts* Whatever

Wander: Sooo...

Dawn: What to do today....

Silver: *coughs*

Dawn: *looks at him* You WILL be alright, will you?

Silver: Yeah. Of Course.

Sally: *thinking* I'm having a bit of a hard time believing that...

Dawn: *looks at IceWind* Get up already, will you? Everyone else is awake.

IceWind: *looks at FireStar and sighs*

FireStar: get up will you?

IceWind: Fine

Silver: Anyways. I'm gonna look for food. I'm hungry *walks off*

Sally: Have fun.

Silver: *searching around*

New chapter after...how many months?

Wanderist vs. ShadowWing

(Wanderist's POV)

After all the dark evil dragons cleared the hallways, I crawled out of the crack in the wall and into the halls. The hallways were... well...dark. You would think my parents would have the brains to put lights inside the hallways so their little evil minions don't run into each other, but I guess they were so in love with the dark that the thought didn't even occur to them. So, yes, I couldn't see a thing. No doors, no candles, no fires. Just black. How the army gets around, I dunno. Unless evil dragons get special night vision or something.

The only reason I found ShadowWing's dorm was because it was at the end of the hall and I ran right into the door. I opened it slightly and saw the first bit of light I had seen in hours. Candles were lit all around the room, and sitting next to a window was a large black dragon with dark blue scales on the stomach and on the inside of the wings. Around her neck was a pendant.

Sadly, my best friend's alter ego heard the door open and looked back. She gasped as soon as she saw me and got ready to yell before I cut her off. "Don't be such a coward! I came to fight you for my friend back. Quit going to my alter ego for help."

ShadowWing growled and spread her oversized wings out. "Where is Princess Wanderist? What did you do with her?"

"You mean you weren't there when I blasted her through the ceiling? I could have sworn you were there. Maybe you need to see a doctor and make sure you're not having memory problems."

Apparently, ShadowWing didn't have Dawn's sense of humor, because she overreacted a little and charged me, screaming at me to shut up. Luckily, despite the fact I'd been somewhat asleep for what must have been years, I hadn't lost my speed. I managed to jump over her and land behind her. I shot a blast of ultra light knowing my ultra light powers did pretty well against dark evil dragons, but ShadowWing was pretty fast herself for a giant dragon of destruction. She simply sidestepped to the left and charged at me. One second I was watching her to make sure she didn't kill me and the next moment I was pinned to the ground by one claw. SW tried to give me a lecture about how I couldn't hope to defeat her. There is a gap between our powers, you are not as strong as Princess Wanderist, blah blah blah blah blah blah...Yeah, you get it. Anyway, she was so proud of herself she barely had time to curse before I blasted her through the ceiling with my ultra light like I did with my alter ego.

Of course, ShadowWing wasn't a wimp like Dark Me. She could actually take getting blasted through the ceiling a few times. She was gone for a few seconds before she horn dived through the new hole in the ceiling. I barely got out of the way before she managed to hit me. Then of course the last few minutes were dodging, swiping at ShadowWing's face, back, and other places I could easily jump and melee. Then memories started flowing through my mind. I could see terrible things Dark Me had done after she messed up the world. And I suddenly had such a scary memory that I let my guard down and let ShadowWing's tail slap me and send me flying into the wall. I got up quickly and dodged her next tail swipe, then quickly jumped out of the way before she could bite my wing off. I tried my best to ignore the memories of what my alter ego had been doing with my body while I was out of commission and went on dodging when I remembered an attack I hadn't used in years. Why? Paranoia. Last time I used the attack, I used so much energy that I instinctively turned to stone to keep myself from draining my remaining energy. Now I probably had no choice if I wanted to save Dawn and get out of here before Dark Me and her friends come to join the party.

ShadowWing finally had me trapped between her and a wall. She laughed like she had won, which I'm pretty sure I would think that too if I was a huge dragon with a small dragon right in front of me with no place to run. I tried to remember how to use my ultra light attack, but using an attack after so many years isn't that easy. ShadowWing got ready to blast me with convexity when I felt my body start to glow. She stopped in her tracks and stared in amazement.

"What is that?" She asked.

I didn't answer. I just let the white glow get brighter until it filled the whole room. ShadowWing covered her eyes with her wings to prevent blindness while I felt myself growing in size. Try not to turn to stone this time. I warned myself before charging at ShadowWing, who was now maybe exactly my size, maybe slightly shorter. I hit ShadowWing, heard screaming, and everything went white.

When I woke up, a smaller version of ShadowWing laid before me.

"Dawn?" I asked weakly as my glow faded and I went back to my normal size. My best friend was opening her eyes when Dark Me and her forces came running in. "ShadowWing! No!" Dark Me screamed. The last thing I remember was falling and Dawn standing over me yelling, "Wander, get up! This isn't the time for a nap!"

Chapter 9

Light's confession

(Dawn's POV)

There's nothing like being freed from your alter ego after years of being controlled to find your friend who freed you passed out on the ground and her own alter ego and her forces right in front of you.

"Wanderist, get up! It's not bed time!" I tried yelling, but my friend didn't even twitch.

"She's not waking up, alter ego." A dark male dragon said coldly. "Whatever she used against ShadowWing, it drained her of her energy." He looked at Dark Wander. "Princess Wanderist, should we kill them now?"

"Kill my alter ego, but keep Dawn alive so we can bring ShadowWing back." Wanderist's alter ego ordered. And with that, we (or I, since I was pretty much on my own)were cornered. Luckily, I looked behind me and my passed out comrade and saw a hole in the wall that I didn't notice before. I shot a shadow bomb in front of the dragons, making them stop to avoid getting hit. I then took the chance to grab Wanderist and fly out through the hole. Back in the castle, I heard DW scream and order her forces to get us. Seconds later, several evil dragons were flying after us. I looked up and saw that the castle was inside a crater. I remembered when I came here to save Wanderist before this all happened, this place was hidden in this crater that was covered by an illusion of a huge lake.

Anyway, I flew up toward the top of the crater, doing my best to dodge convexity beams and shadow bombs and whatnot when suddenly, a stronger shadow bomb just barely missed me and startled me so much I almost dropped Wanderist. I looked behind me and DW was quickly flying toward us. She gave me such a cold glare that I had trouble believing she was actually the darker side of Wanderist. She took a deep breath and I got ready to be blown out of the sky, but when she opened her mouth, nothing came out.

"What the?! Why isn't my dark-light breath working?" She shouted angrily. At first, I had no idea what she was talking about because her "dark-light" breath was Wanderist's secret element mix of ultra light and convexity- two breath attacks that really shouldn't mix. It was a gray element that had qualities of both light and darkness. Believe it or not, it was that element that caused this. Years ago, after Wanderist was turned into this monster, she used this power and used the darkness part of it to somewhat destroy this world, the light part to create a new one, and then darkness again to turn it into a wasteland. At least, that's my understanding of it. But back when Wander was still Wander, we just called it "the mysterious element."

Anyway, while DW was confused, I took my chance to strike. I shot the first fire bomb I had shot in years. DW had no time to respond and was immediately shot back down toward the castle screaming. With their princess down, two escaping dragons was suddenly no big deal to her friends. They ignored me and flew back down to save DW from hitting the ground. So with that, I took my chance to fly out of the crater with Wanderist.

(Fireball's POV)

I sighed and retracted my paw from the elder dragon Light's head.

"I'm sorry, Light, but I guess I can't heal a condition like this. I can only heal injuries." I told him sadly. I had been trying to use my healing ability to heal Light, but apparently my abilities didn't extend to energy shortage.

"It's alright, Fireball." He replied simply.

"Light, what do we do? You obviously can't hold the shield up much longer. What's going to happen when you have to take it down?" Hope asked.

The ultra light elder sighed and struggled to get into a sitting position. He stared at us sadly for a moment.

"Young dragons, there is something I must tell you. I kept it from you so you all wouldn't rush into the castle trying to save Wanderist."

"Light, what do you mean? We wouldn't have been able to save Wanderist-" I said, but then it hit me, and I could tell Hope understood.

"You mean... it's been safe to go out there this whole time?" Hope asked quietly. Light just nodded.

"What Dark Wanderist did was a fury attack. It's affects don't last but a few seconds. The world is the way it is now because the damage done was already done when the effects ended. But we escaped those effects and escaped corruption. The effects of Dark Wanderist's fury could no longer affect us before we even found out Sally was alive." He explained.

I tried not to get angry, but it was pretty hard. We could have saved my cousin two years ago, but we didn't because this old "wise" dragon had kept this from us.

"So let me get this strait, we could have went and saved Wanderist TWO YEARS AGO?!" Hope shouted.

"I'm sorry, young dragons, but I couldn't let you all rush into danger. The dark castle would have been too much for all of you. There's too many over there."

"Then what was the point in-"

Hope was cut off by Rookie and Pablo rushing in, both panting.

"Rookie!" I yelled in surprise. I couldn't tell whether his little plan had worked or not by looking at him because his face was so full of shock.

"What happened?" Hope asked.

Rookie looked at us, his eyes full of shock, but full of relief as well.

"I... did it." The room went silent for a bit. Then Rookie repeated himself with a bit more confidence.

"I did it. Wanderist has escaped."
